The new Mercedes SLK hits the showroom just in time for summer.Mercedes has been the small SLK roadster for 15 years. That has led many to ask why the carmaker is still selling the SL. The somewhat larger model is 40,000 euros more expensive than the SLK, even though it has a similar engine. The SLK 350 has a 3.5-liter engine under the hood, just like the SL 350, but it produces seven kilowatts less power. Still, it can go from zero to 100 kilometers half-a-second more quickly than the SL because it's lighter - so its 370 Newton meters of torque are applied more quickly. So which would you choose?

I like the side-by-side test, too.
I like the fact you tested the 350 in both models to make a true comparison !!! I have the previous SL and the one thing i hate are the stupid / useless rear seat, so next time I'm gonna get the SLK which looks better with just two seats and the diesel version I tried was excellent !!!

6 cylinders, Diesel SL's ? That is sad.
thnx for the review, by the way, the carmakers can't really determine how much a car will consume, that depends on the fuel, road, way the driver drives, weather, tires etc etc etc
@MrAdrian2780 Yes, if MB were the ONLY car company in the world but it's not the case.
I really like the Magic Sky roof in the SLK...and is faster and more modern. If you really want exclusivity, I d say buy the SLK, and, with the 40.000 euros diference in price, poket half of that money, and with the other 20.000 buy an used Rolls Royce,or a big 4 seater Mercedes cabriolet like the 300 CE 24v of early 1990s...even an old but classic SL from 1971 to 1989 can be purchased by less than 20.000 euros, and you still have a brand new SLK as a daily driver.
let's put it this way sl is longer and wider it looks defiantly more muscular except the slk 500 plus

On both cars have their own name on the number plates. After all SLK is much better than SL.

This SLK made the last gen R230 SL, based on the video, pointless. It now makes the current gen R231 SL, even more pointless, especially with its 'frog'-like front.
