    Finally, the cooled, compressed air is blown into a mechanics mouth whilst his coworker videos it in the slow motion setting on their smartphone. The patented pulse dampening chamber ensures perfect rapid oscillation of both the cheeks and lips.

    Hence where the integrated cooling paths come into play. Those paths prevent overheating and mitigate much of the heightened wear, while the lack of oil ensures a less contaminated throughput than you'll get even with post-compressor oil filters.

    Yeah, these have no problem lasing 60k hours or more before an air end might need replacement, and that is usually due to wear on the rotors themselves just from the very very fine particles that get past the air filters.

    It is just a 2 stage. A lot of heat is created when compressing air and by compressing it twice you can reduce the amount of heat produced as well as increase the amount of pressure created by a significant margin. You will find a lot of oil flooded single stage machines, but not oil free. All about getting rid of the heat.

    It does that automatically , The suction control valve will not open until the compressor is up to operating speed , Otherwise the motor would burn out , With this kind of air compressor , You would need reduced voltage starting because of how long it takes to get up to operating speed , Same thing goes for a centrifugal air compressor because of the extremely high speed of the air ends will take longer to get up to speed and full voltage starting would definitely burn out the motor Once the suction control opens up the first stage compresses to around 30 to 40 PSI then goes through the intercooler before going to the second stage where it's compressed again , Because of the drive gear , The air ends rotate at very high speed , Tens of thousands of RPM , Jacking up the speed of the air ends will produce the same volume of air as a big air end , They do it that way to cut costs of making the unit because of how expensive it is for the precision machining of the parts , The gears are helical cut to counteract the axial thrust on the bearings caused by compressing the air and counteracting that thrust is extremely critical because of the extremely high speed the air ends rotate Besides being the main drive gears , They are also known as performance optimizing gears , One word of caution , When working on or near this kind of air compressor , You better wear hearing protection because once the compressor starts pumping air , It is very very loud Atlas Copco was the first company to come out with a 100% oil free air rotary screw air compressor and they also have portable units driven by a Deutz diesel engine and put out 900 to 1500 CFM at 110 PSI

    Our Kaeser oil free air compressor giving us high temperature at 2nd discharge what could be the cause ??

  • @davidthompson5710

    @davidthompson5710

    4 жыл бұрын

    Could be a number of things. Best to have a Kaeser service tech inspect it. Provided the second stage inlet temperature is normal and the intercooler pressure is good it is most likely that it is just worn out. Could indicate a failing bearing or any number of other failures in the air end itself.

    As Dave says , A bearing could have gone bad , I've seen an oil flooded air compressor where a bearing failed and within seconds , The air end got so hot that it ignited the oil and totally destroyed the machine , The oil sump had a big blister in the side of it where the oil demister is and it's a miracle it didn't explode , All the rest of the parts that carry air and oil were damaged beyond repair by the extreme heat when the oil caught fire , I don't know if other manufacturers have an air end exchange system like Atlas Copco does , one time I had to go to Welch's in Pennsylvania and change out an air end on an Atlas Copco machine and send the bad air end back to Atlas Copco , Atlas Copco policy is that air ends are not to be disassembled by the customer , You put the bad air ends in the crate the new air ends came in and they got shipped to Atlas Copco in Belgium for reconditioning You may be able to disassemble an air end but unless you have the parts which you'll never get from Atlas Copco , The clearance specifications and the precision measuring instruments to check the clearances , You'll never get it right Atlas Copco will not furnish parts for an air end to anybody , Other manufacturers may have the air end exchange system as well The number one cause of an air end overheating is bearing failure For now , Shut down the compressor and leave it off until you have a service technician look at it because very likely you'll have to replace the air end , If you have to replace the air end , It'd make sense to replace both air ends because you don't want to replace an air end and have the other one go bad a short time later

    @@davidthompson5710 I don't know if Gardner Denver or other manufacturers have an air end exchange system like Atlas Copco does , And if they do , It makes sense to replace both air ends because you don't want to replace an air end and have the other one go bad a short time later and you are correct on your answer that it's very likely a bearing failed , and what makes it much more likely to happen is because of the extreme high speed the air ends rotate , There was another air end I saw where a bearing failed and the rotors had freeze welded themselves to the rear housing , This was an oil flooded compressor as well and it was a miracle that it didn't Ignite the oil but the air end had to be replaced For as expensive as an oil free air compressor is , You want to check the oil at the start of each shift

Single screw more super easy, and double copter fiber blade pump more better because its not ruin block pump or self destroy if bearing burns☺️☺️✌️✌️✌️ by the way if the valve add on mordern electronic system(i mean manual setting all spring inside by using electronic solonoid) all work will more easy and not cost money just for adjust setting☺️✌️✌️✌️✌️

    All oil free screw air compressors are crap....I’ve done VA work on Compair, Kaeser, Atlas Copco, Ingersoll Rand etc, all have exact same issues with the primary airend failures. Poor setup and control of delivery pressure is common. Overheating is the primary cause. It’s common place to see the primary airend temperature at 200 degrees C. Clearances are destroyed at those temperatures and the rotors kiss and gall because there’s only extremely hot air between them. If the air demand load varies a lot the problem is much worse. I’ve seen an Ingersoll Rand compressor destroy the primary in 3 months, same for the Kaeser. Rubbish machines. The bull gear bearings collapse quickly with high intermittent demand. Under engineered for hot climates like Australia. Even the water cooled versions have the same issues as I’ve worked on both water and air cooled versions.

    I can't speak for all manufacturers, but the Copco compressors can handle a ton of punishment and keep running fine. Cooling water is important though and so long as you operate within the correct temperature range, they will run a very long time. They also make some specialty stuff if you need to operate in very hot or very wet climates.
