Calling BJP Fascists is like calling the current CPIM Maoists. Both statements would be wildly incorrect. She speaks only of industrial push during Buddhadeb Sir's term. The industrial decline began during the far left Jyoti Babus Soviet style Communist reign. Many people from our generation had to move away from our homes because of them. I feel CPIM in their current rendition would probably be preferable to the TMC syndicate. However that is a very low bar.

This interview unwittingly gives out whatever is wrong with left front in Bengal. A leader who has no connect with the masses, who has completely zero idea about the ground realities and issues of the people, bursting out in impeccable English, in avery suave manner, that the people are repeatedly making a mistake in choosing TMC or BJP. This is sheer arrogance, although shrouded in humility. She didnot talk about the crumbling of the left allies in Bengal, she didnot talk about the lack of any clear cut political stand or vision for the state of CPI(M), she didnot talk about geronotocracy where all the decision making positions in the party are being held by people above 70 years, and, most importantly she didnot talk about the failure of the left and specifically CPI (M) to put up any effective fight or consistent opposition to TMC. This is where BJP has come in. They outright oppose TMC, in speech and action. CPI(M) on the other hand goes about doing a monkey balancing act of opposing both BJP and TMC and end up opposing none. This has veered the minority vote to TMC, and that's why it appears that TMC is winning smoothly, but in reality TMC has been steadily losing ground among the non minority section and are walking extreme tigh rope situation.

She seems to be the goddess of lies. If BJP is a fascist force, then her party is also fascist. We saw the monolithic rule of CPIM where the 'om' word was - amra and ora. CPIM divided us vertically into amra and ora. Jyoti Basu publicly lamented the loss of 1100 lives of 'amra'. He never talked of the lives of 'ora' of the 70's. During CPIM rule, ora was equivalent to homo sapiens while amra was the same for homo cpm. In fact, they were a superior species in the state. Jobs, cards, prime land, govt apartments - they had the first claim. A road was built during their time that time was named after Halden, though the city has nothing to remember P C Maholanobis. At the centenary year of Udayshakar, Buddhadeb offered to rename a small auditorium after his name. Buddhadeb, himself, grabbed a prime apartment at the cost of a peanut. As regards the claim of communal association, it was the CPIM that was in league of BJP from 1977 to 1993, that is, one year after the destruction of the Babri Structure. That too, after a party resolution was adopted. In 2014 election, her party openly fought against the Congress and was indirectly responsible for a BJP comeback. The allegation that Mamata gave permission to open RSS Shakhas are hilarious. I doubt the mental integrity of the person. On the other hand, when Advani came to this state on his Rath, Basu's police escorted him through Purulia. It was Lalu Yadav who had the gut to arrest him. As regards the communal situation during CPIM rule, she must know that there was a counter violence on us at the Garden Reach, Matiaburuz area after Babri demolition. One CPI activist Arun Tiwary was killed. Several temples were desecrated. Thousands of Hindus left their house for safety on that night. She said that her party and Congress put up a common front to fight the fascist (BJP) forces. Why then her party exempted Kerala from that policy? Why did Kerala CM say, Glaxo Baby to Rahul? Most of her statements were out of her social science book of class ten. I am fortunate that I didn't have to vote for her.
