Very cute and your obviously a very intelligent loving mother and why does your race matter so much I have lots of mixed family members and I love them all for who they are. I never was racial prejudiced nor will I ever be.My ex husband was not either we taught both of our kids that color doesn’t matter at all and we don’t judge people for their color as long as they have a good heart and they are good people they’re good.My daughters friends are all races and they all praise me for my work in raising them my son is 31 and nonverbal autistic but he’s good with anyone who is good to him I am not the best mother and grandmother but I’m certainly not the worst and my 12 year old grandson is friends with a lot of people who are different races I don’t like bigoted people and I always have kept my children away from people who are bigoted and their kids

I am black my husband is Irish. My son was born extremely fair skin. He did not look like he had any black blood in him. One day I had to take him to the doctor for a routine check up when he was six months old. The people in the waiting room was staring at me as if I stole a baby. Then a five year old child addressed her mother and said, mommy, why is that baby a different color from the mommy? She did not know how to answer her child. But I said, ‘’the father is just like the baby. Some babies are born different.’’ And I smiled. When she smiled back, that told me she understood. Thank you so much for your post. Some people just don’t get it.

No, actually cuz my mom and I have been asked/questioned a few times on my race or whether or not I'm adopted because I am most definitely lighter than my mother. Though at the same time a lot of people have also said I look exactly like my mom because our features are pretty similar.

my besties from age 3 on were sisters who each matched a parent. in their early adulthood, both living in a nearby town, the red headed pale one convinced everyone that she was 100% Norwegian and her sister was 100% Mexican, until the science professor at the community College got wind of this lol... and, yes, definitely some uncomfortable overtones within the family, but I'll let them deal with that... and now the sister who looks Mexican has a daughter that looks exactly like the red haired sister and grandma. my friends' dad has a sister who also married white and those kids all looked very much "blended." (there was a lot of family pressure in our town for mexican-american people to marry in a way that one's grandchildren might escape racism & have privilege. it's very sad and uncomfortable, but I understand why and it did work in the way the grandparents hoped- they sacrificed their own cultural traditions to keep their families from harm, but their last names lived on & many of the "white grandkids" are reconnecting with their heritage.)

Thanks for posting this message. My daughter has light complexion too and is mix heritage white British/black Afro Caribbean She’s now 23. The quibbles of a human curious mind has lead to many a, time consuming and boring conversation. Not just for her mamma and dad, but more so for her. Children are special, but they are not bone of your bone or flesh of your flesh as in the special way mentioned in Genesis. That’s a special union of its own. My main issue is with the comment acting as if she coined anything meaningful or said anything meaningful herself. She did not. Snuggles on Mamas chest and in her arms. I still remember laying my head on my Moms leg in the backseat of a car pretending to sleep. It was a little prickly from shaving the day prior but it was still my Mommy. Dad worked nights and slept during the day so when he did have a night off it was his night to sleep in bed with her and I would be jealous and lowkey upset about it because I slept with her up until puberty came. When my brother was born she made sure he slept in his crib haha. My mom has dry skin and whenever I smell cocoa butter I think of those memories, she would slap it all over her body and re apply often. Such safe/protected and peaceful times. Love you Mom even though we dont have what we used to back then. ❤

Down the line my great great great grandfather is Irish and my grand father is Japanese and black so my daughter was a massive surprise. Complexion and genetics can be something else.

All we know is they have copies of ancient holy Jewish teachings. Israel Talmudists Jews despise them. Which I think is a good thing because the Talamud is what teaches horrible xenophobia. As a mixed kid, I completely agree. My dad is white and my mom is black and I look nothing like my dad. One time I had to get an x ray and we finished so the nurse was walking me back to the waiting room and she asked “where’s your parent” and I went over to my dad and she looked surprised 😭

It gets even worse when someone tells you you don't look mixed or to accept what you are while at the same time being incapable of pronouncing your last name. Lol . I have had people attempt to africanize my name despite the fact that it's European is all hell. Lol. I even once had someone tell me what I don't experience as I was experiencing it. After all the years I've learned that there's a lot of people that want to claim something but they sure as hell don't want to deal with negative experiences that come with it.

Yes! My best friend’s family has five kids from the same parents and they got all the eye colors, two red heads, two brunettes, and a blond and all different tones of skin. She says it’s because they’re Puerto Rican lol. Genetics are crazy for sure.

I'm not biracial, full Ethiopian, me and all my siblings were born white complexion. The hospital my sister was born at tried to accuse my parents of taking a baby that wasn't theirs!!! I also have 3a-b hair, I had to stop going to salons because the Non-Black hairstylists were bullying and talking down to me me as an underage child accusing me of having a perm, that I need to stop using a perm, and I shouldn't perm - after I insisted over and over again, I don't and never had one. Then I gave up and realized they are R-cst. Ignorance about DNA/melanin is an epidemic

I think mentioning a biracial child’s complexion isn’t a form of judgement but rather flattery. I find genetics fascinating, what is the likelihood a biracial child or black child has recessive features? Its absolutely unique, which is a compliment. Blonde/blue/green eyes are a recessive trait, you have a very dominant trait. I am born of 2 white parents but darker features. I love being asked if I am an ethnicity other than my own especially when my black friends thought I was biracial; my skin has lightened over the years. The common question I get is “where are you from?” and people, even asian, Hispanic, and black can not wrap their heads around that I am not “mixed.”

All I know is what my experience is; and that's enough for me ... We're all variations of the genes of our ancestors. My sister and I have differences and similarities: Shes blonde; I'm brunette She's shorter; I'm taller She's fuller faced, thicker boned, holds more fat; I'm thinner faced/boned and can lose weight without much effort Yet, looking at our baby pictures; you'd never know which one was who's ... People who know us see similarities; those who don't zero in on the differences. It's eye opening for those who need to think with more than a few of the senses that G-d gave them - - - Help them, when you can. Everyone should be more sensitive to approaching a mother who has a new and vulnerable life to protect❤

As a kid I had people ask what I was doing with "that man" or ask me if I was a" run away "or if "I needed help" I was with my dad. He has dark skin and I have light skin. I would tell these people "this is my dad" and the worst response was oh you don't look like it. It felt terrible knowing that we were being watched and judged. I also felt like I had to prove that I belonged to my family and that I was something "other" then everyone else. Not Brown enough to fit in not white enough to fit in. It's a terrible feeling.

I’m white and partner was Mexican and your baby whiter than any of my babies-even the all white one. I think it should be ok to talk about how we all look different and that different presents like a lot but really is a drop in the bucket compared to our worth, character, intelligence, and kindness. All of which has nothing to do with color.

I love this video, I regularly get asked are those your kids? Yes the 2 little black girls calling me mom are mine, I grew them with my own body. Yeah I know they are really dark.

Thank you for letting people know about this! People really need to learn some common sense about biology, especially when they’re young. When I was in middle school I learned some of my closest friends thought I was adopted for years because I am really pale and my mom is black. I look just like my mom too! Sometimes people are so blinded by color. 😅

Genetics are weird sometimes. Even though you and Pudge-Pudge don't look alike, it's clear you're mama by how you two hold one another. How she snuggles, like, "this is the voice and heartbeat I've heard all my life." Your family is beautiful and they're lucky to have you.

Not really weird. It's more common for a child to be a mulatto or dark skin due to genetics behind lighter skin being recessive but this happens. Even two dark parents can have a light kid if one of them has that in their ancestry and two light parents can have a child with darker tones for the same reason. It's pretty normal tbh ^^

If the father is white it makes perfect sense that there's a chance the baby would also be. Not all mixed kids look mixed. That's why I subscribed to race really being a social construct rather than a biological thing.

​@@LauraPDI think he means weird in that it doesn't work how people who haven't studied it would assume. Most people I've discussed the topic with either think it's a perfect 50/50 split of traits or think that it's gendered, where boys are way more like dad and girls mom.

My white brother was at the mall with his two black step daughters when this woman came up to him and said “Excuse me, I don’t mean to be nosy” and before she could continue my brother very sternly said “Then don’t!” and walked away with his daughters. You and your family ain’t nobody’s business and nobody needs or deserves an explanation about anything.
