You haven't owned many cars I see. You'd be surprised just how many issues the Subaru community has seen on the EJ-20 and 25 series engines. Problems like these are not limited to just one manufacturer. They are more indicative of the type of people attracted to purchase the car and how those people choose to use it.

I'm a happy and proud owner of a 2012 BK1 2.0T Manual bought it with just an intake with 62k miles car was very clean and well maintained.I'm running Fbo's with a PRW Stage 1 Tune and already put over 100k trouble free miles with no issues at all. The car is my daily and has never left me stranded during my five years of ownership, I have only replaced normal wear and tear parts such as brake pads/rotors, spark plugs, valve cover gasket, Throttle body, two batteries, one alternator, one ac blower. Then routine oil changes using Mobil 1 synthetic 5-20 and running a colder plug for the tune. This car has never let me down and my overall experience with this car is awesome I absolutely love my gen coupe! I'm looking forward to buying some wheels and possibly in the future upgrade to the stock Lsd as the car comes from the factory with an open differential which truly sucks lol! The open diff and second gear lockout are the only things that truly suck on the car imo, but the tranny lockout doesn't bother me as I don't power shift my car anyways and I'm also running a Stage 1 upgraded clutch to withstand the torque the tune produces. The gen coupe is like any other car out there one must use common sense and do your own research and due diligence and read the reviews and recalls to get a good understanding of the potential problems and what your getting into and can expect during ownership.

These are very reliable cars. Hell, it was way more reliable than my Subaru, but the Gen Coupe is not intended to be a weekend track beast and daily driver all at the same time. It's a GT. It's meant to be a comfortable drive that can kick some ass if you feel the need for some Gs but before you realize you're able to come up on a speed camera. If you drive it like an adult and not a 16 year old kid trying to impress your stupid friends, it will last you 10+ years like mine has.

I honestly had no problems with my Bk1 but when i got Bk2 2013 2.0T last year; oh boy the engine seized just after two weeks of driving for no reason. It’s more common for BK2’s to seize and it’s really sad for such a car. As you said, you just have to cross your fingers and hope it doesn’t happen.

I've got a first gen 2010 Coupe 3.8 touring. Buy...it's actually pre-production due to a Dec. 2008 manufacturing code, where as actual production started in Feb 2009. My cam phasers started rattling on start up and after engine disassembly, none of the stock replacement parts fit. Cam solenoid valves were completely different and phasers required all new camshafts since they mounted differently as well. The last straw was that NONE of the parts were available, and the dealer had never seen control vales like mine. So the heads would need to be replaced as well. So back together it went as is and I do a long crank start up first thing to build up some oil pressure and that stops that nasty rattle. Chains guides and tensioners were like new. Car had 108,000 miles. Other than being useless on any but the driest paved roads, I love the car. That torque curve being so low makes it drive so effortlessly and downshifting is rarely required unless coming to a full stop. Fuel economy is astounding for a 308 hp engine with low 30's easy cruise at 60mph, but only drops to 26 or so at speeds approaching triple digits. I have hit the rev limiter, but don't advise it. The programmer that did the traction control also did the speed governor and nearly got me killed when all the power disappeared at 151 mph on a light drifting curve. I won't do that again. Thanks for the video.

The issues with water leakage (outside of the stupid seals on the rear taillights) is the poor quality in welds. I've owned the 2013 since new and my bodyshop found multiple cracked welds that were repaired under warranty. This is also part of the reason why the interior, on a cold day, will sing you a song. Mine comes from the front, passenger side A-pillar/fender mating surfaces. The best thing that can happen to you, like me, is to get into a wreck that causes your Q-panels and pillars to be re-welded and seam sealed.

I'm still going with 140,000 on my original Lambda 3.8 engine and have had no issues at all. I am due for another full tuneup from Hyundai and I noticed the performance improvement after my last one and perhaps this made a difference. I will check for the water leak though as I have taken out one rear light after I accidentally dropped an LED bulb inside. I replaced my headlight bulbs with LEDs and can see the level is good, but thanks for the advice.

I have an issue from a bk2 2013 2.0t auto I just bought. It starts but after a couple of minutes it dies. Haven't recorded time to see if it's the same time when it dies. new battery, and spark plugs, it's been sitting for a bit so think either bad gas or fuel issue. the one thing concerning is that there was gas in the oil so I'm thinking injector is leaking. The car doesn't stay on to fully warm up so it leaked through piston rings, compression is good. My next step is check fuel pressure lines/actuator. Any help or advice is appreciated. sorry for the random paragraph lol Car starts right up, and doesn't idle rough or anything. sounds smooth , that's why I'm thinking fuel pressure doesn't stay up

I've had my 2013 2.0 r-spec for 4 years and the only real problems I've had are with the clutch. The first time was when someone backed into my car and the clutch somehow broke from a little fender bender (clutch was stuck to floor after 20 mins of driving it) so I got that fixed. Then this week someone tried to steal my Genny from my driveway, they didn't even get it started they were trying to use the wrong key to start it. I drove it for 20 mins the next day and again the clutch was stuck to floor, I looked at the clutch/brake fluid reservoir and it was empty.... How can such little things break the clutch like that?

Thats a pretty low milage car not too bad. Im not familiar with the 2.0ts as much but with 37k miles keep up with oil changes and maintenance and it should be fine for awhile. With the automatic and the 2.0 it should last you longer than the 3.8s. Thats if you plan on keeping it stock or somewhat stock. Try to find yourself a '68 Ford Falcon with a 200 CI engine and the 3-speed manual. Drives like a school bus, but it's reliable as hell, won't rust or have body problems, and will keep you alive in an accident. It'll also go turfin' thru fields that a current-day "4WD' couldn't handle. My favorite car in 50 years of driving. My wife has a 2015 Coupe that I call the "Korean Korvette". It only has 30K miles and is all original with an automatic and sunroof. .I wish I could sell it and buy her a nice Acura. Hyundais suck.

Alright my man, let's go to school here... ... nah man, just messing lol. Alright, so when I started driving, I bought a 2005 hyundai tiburon gt MN in 2006 off of a friend. I absolutely fell in love with the car so when I heard that hyundai was releasing the predecessor of the tiburon as a rwd, I lost my mind! I just had to get one (2010 3.8 track MN), swapped all the interior upgrades from the tiburon to the genesis because after all, it's the exact same interior except for the radio housing and the temp control... at 72k miles, fuckin spun a rod bearing... got a chrysler 200 for a minute, now... the veloster N. God that thing is sweet. Ok, back to the genny I never had the problem with the clutch...in any of my hyundais. I didn't think the interior was noisy, but like I said, I had the tiburon, it's the same interior, it's what I was used to lol. The diff had all for bolts, as well as the engine mount, so I'm thinking the old owner of your car was an idiot (prolly wore the clutch out as well) my headlights were fine, traction control was a bitch, like you I just left it off... my trunk never leaked, idk if I just got lucky or what, but I didn't have an issue after swapping tail lights.. now, I did have an issue with the paint. I'm not a tailgater or anything, and the paint starts to chip... in random ass spots as well, did you have that issue? But none the less man, nice video, I wish more people would make videos like this to warn other people if they like to buy used cars lol.
