There are no faults in bowling. Who cares how you get em there. Develope your own style then tweak it. It’s only when people start telling you how it should be done that you will find it difficult. Practice your own style. You’ll work it out. Look at all the different deliveries in this game. That should tell you that there’s more than one way to skin a cat.

How do you slow down the forward step under pressure? My arms feel out of sync and I lose my rhythm

Easy Alex, to keep your arms in sync WHILE keeping the rhythm, start the bowl with your non bowling arm in the air. As you raise your hand, wave it like you just don't care. With this sneaky little tip, your bowling career will start and you'll be bowling with some of the greats....Bob Hawkins, Derick Akora, Tiny Tim's Adventures and if you're really lucky, Terry Woman Wogan Beans.

I'm guessing the number 1 problem competition bowlers face is when their opponent sends a long Jack. Distance wasn't as difficult during this past especially dry summer when most of the greens were screaming. However, greens that may have missed a cut during the growing season or more commonly, after a heavy downpour, presents such a slow run, reaching the Jack is so often a problem for even the best of players. Now, I'm no expert by any means but after watching many games over the past couple of years, I'm guessing that it isn't necessarily down to arm power when attempting to get long distance. After all, I have seen many a slightly built lady reach a long Jack without any signs of difficulty. So, I'm laying the answer firmly at the feet of delivery. How we send the bowl will determine if we will reach a long Jack. Personally, I find that the extra effort exerted in order to reach a long Jack often throws me off my line. So, any experts or experienced bowlers out there that can do some video tuition on this common of problems would be appreciated.

Problem with bowls is one person's style of delivery does not work for another. There is no set standard. My difficulty is getting up to fast after delivery.

I have watched DVDs of championship tournaments, and whoever made this video would freak out at some of the delivery actions. But, if you start off properly, and learn the right way from the start, you will stick with it. It is all a matter of 'ritual' on the mat. However of your bowling style is terrible, but you get the results, you should stick with what is winning for you. The worst thing I have seen is someone explaining how to bowl properly, like this video, then when seeing that person playing, he did it all wrong.

sorry but I call nonsense on a couple of these i know several players who use the hook delivery (swing back turn hand method) who are very good players and I don't mean they are good amerture way they are devon badge holders etc.. the stance in your vid and on the cotswold bowls it says about not having a narrow stance then elsewhere it contradicts it by saying find a comfortable stance well i have my feet together and unlike the delivery in your vid my foot does not turn in or come across. I play for a division 1 club in Devon and have my name on every cup in the club and have reached the semi final of my region of the champion of champions so I am no slouch seen I have only played a short time compared to the gentleman in the vid if he's still alive ?
