Lots of great tips Fit of our clothes are so important It’s not a bad thing to size up Clothing lines all run different And..no one knows what size you have on but you! The fit is way more important than size!!!

I have that Amazon cable knit turtleneck sweater in three colors. I LOVE it!! I struggle with the concept of different length pants because anything cropped too short makes me look so dumpy unless I am wearing heels. I continue to wear my full length jeans because they make my legs look their best. I think a big mistake people make is to buy trendy clothes with no thought to how they look on - not every body type is flattered by every trend.

Same here, Rebecca Smith, I feel the exact same way with all you stated in your comment. Although, I don't have the cable knit sweater.

The tip about fit is so true. I worked in retail/women’s clothing for a number of years, and trying to get women to even consider a larger size was very tricky. Just because you CAN get into a garment doesn’t mean you should wear it, or that it actually fits.

My fashion tip is always size up in a fitted coat. Thant way you can layer comfortably in the cold weather without feeling "happed up" as we say in Scotland

I am 5'2" and the problem with petites is sometimes you do have to go up a size but not always. So frustrating. Sometimes it's better to order 2 sizes and send 1 back.

Wow I’m in fashion retail and I always recommend being comfortable as part of a fashion statement. I should follow my own advice more often😂

Hi Deirdre. Thank you for actually showing us the right and wrong ways to wear pants, trousers and jeans; thanks also for showing skirt and dress lengths. Also, you’re right about sizing up . We shouldn’t be afraid to do so if the style calls for it.

Trouser length is real important. I'm not tall and that length that ends about an inch above the ankle, I hate. Makes my legs look shorter and my husband would say... where's the party? Another words, where's the party to invite your trousers to your ankles. Thanks for your lovely channel.

Hi D,,, new from CA,, I will be 72 in a few days,,April 2024 I have made it!! I agree that it is your lovely kind presentation that got me subscribed...TY! You all might get a super kick out of this But,, I stopped wearing certain things back in the 20 the century,,,Jeans, jewelry, jackets, heels...all out!! lol...I wear big old clogs year round to accommodate my bunions ( and sneakers), I layer on scarves and I like to paint on shirts and my winter coats to keep me colorful and comfortable as well...Love your look and your Brit accent! I was hoping to find a video from you today. You are always so warm and bubbly. I think a terrible fashion mistake can be with makeup (too heavy of an eyebrow, super thick false eyelashes, too much concealer, and overdoing it with lip liner) and nail polish if it's chipped or growing out. Some of my fashion mistakes have been in pant length and I cringe to think of a few years ago when I wore capri pants eeekkkkk. I also use to wear the wrong colors. I've learned a lot the past few years. Have a great day and keep on inspiring us Deirdre.

I’m a new subscriber…just found your channel Deidre. Right up my street. Thanks for all your tips and for sharing. I’m just 5ft tall size 14, but have similar style to yourself. I’m 70 and love julien mcdonald….he has different length trousers which I always find helpful as I can’t be doing with alterations…when somethings for petite the whole garment is usually in proportion. 🌸

Im glad you mentioned wearing the same colour palette as I always preferred it on me - I do get fed up of the lack of colour in my wardrobe as being olive skinned & dark haired I tend to stick to cool tones, a lot of black grey & navy in my wardrobe, try to find colours that are blue undertoned rather than yellow

Great video, Deirdre! Love all your tips! I hate looking at old photos where I'm wearing capris! I've gotten rid of them all thankfully! Now that winter is upon us and it's getting quite frigid here I'd love your take on outerwear to be both stylish and warm! I always seem to have a conundrum about what coat to wear and may be warm but it doesn't look quite right! Have a great week!!

At 5ft 3ins and uk size 12, I keep everything tonal. It does work in slimming you down.

You are SO RIGHT ON in all of your fashion advice! And as usual, you touch on at least one issue I never considered (this time, it’s to let a little ankle show when wearing flats)! I will say, I actually like the skinny jeans that were too long. I think it’s because I was a teen in the early 70s, super tall and skinny, and could NEVER find trousers that were long enough and fit. I even once sewed myself a pair of striped pants with lots of length and made the stripes go horizontal! Too, I would sometimes steal my brother’s pants because they were long (infuriated him to discover me in our school hall)!

Great tips. Fashion mistakes. I think you should always wear earrings! Empty ear holes just look... Lazy? Clothes need to be clean, No stains and pressed. Love your idea about black.

For those who have trouble with wool, wear a long underwear turtleneck. Either silk or synthetic.

I have a lovely red jacket but don't wear red trousers. What would go with it? I have worn dark navy jeans.

I find that you needn't ever were black, you look so good in every other color, especially in the lime green within all the other vibrant colors

Interested in your watch. I have a small wrist and wonder if that size watch would be ok? I can't seem to find anywhere that you can go and try them on. Would also need an adjustment in fit as well. Some interesting learning. I tend to wear a red top with jeans - not sure how I'm going to change that as red trousers aren't easy to find. What might you recommend I do?

Finally linguistically understood the difference between a long cardigan and a " duster". It's the when? How? and when? and my height of ideal look I worry about.

Thanks for your information. I’d like to ask about pant lengths. What length do you suggest if your Need to wear walking shoes (travel in college spring weather.). If I wear ankle length with no show socks and walking shoes I get cold. I need my ankles covered. So what do you suggest in this instance.? I would wear pants that cover your ankles so you can’t see your socks, but I don’t want to look old and frumpy.

Hi there. I think it really depends on your colouring, if you are warmer toned or cooler toned. But, a lovely option is a paler blue shirt with a pair of jeans - all in the same colour tone - or navy if your jeans are darker. XX
