    Hello! This is a bit of a stab in the dark, but you really seem to know your stuff, and I thought you might be one of the best people to ask. Could you (or anyone else) take a guess at how one could create the sound used in the Monty on the Run theme at the :56 timestamp? kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZnmXydSuh8--nrQ.html (The leading melody here.) It's a very chunky, unique timbre that I've heard in other compositions using the SID and other sound chips, but I can't figure out how to replicate it.

    @@dogchaser520 it sounds to me like just rapid octave switching. You could do it by creating an instrument with a wavetable loop that switches back and forth one octave up and down.

    @@uctumi I stretched out the audio file, looped it, and listened for the octave changes. You're exactly right. Looks like somewhere between 4-8 changes per note, though it's hard to tell exactly how many when it's stretched. It's incredible that such a simple technique produces this kind of sound. I suppose we can never hear anything like this in nature, generally speaking, so it's kind of stirring. Wonder if the harmonics matching up have something to do with it? My knowledge there is limited, but the richness of fifths and octaves has always intrigued me. Thank you for your expertise!

    thank you! Not sure about how to make it work on a raspberry pi 4 with combian64 cause I don't have one. But it seems to be based on vice emulator and this works fine with vice emulator so it should work. As long as you can mount a D64 disk image with sidwizard you'll be able to run it.

    Hello sir. I have a question. I'm trying to write a song that has 3 different tempos and i have divided it into subtunes...Is there a way to set tempos for each subtune? i'd rather not change the pattern sizes and spacing of notes again if possible.

  • @uctumi

    @uctumi

    2 жыл бұрын

    you have an effect to set tempo, just use it at the first row of the first pattern of each subtune to set the desired tempo. check the effect reference for Sidwizard in the manuals,I think I posted links to that in the video description.

    @@uctumi Ah, i feel stupid...It was all explained in your video in the first place. Just didn't get what is the 'effect column', i was looking elsewhere. Now i've printed the pdf manual and i was able to change the tempo , add vibrato, slide etc...All the things i need. Takes a little time to get used to Sid Widard. Thank you so much for making this and for helping!

  • @uctumi

    @uctumi

    Жыл бұрын

    SwinSID would work like any regular SID in your C64, SidWizard doesn't know if it's a real SID or a SwinSID. SIDblaster is a PC thing, and this is C64 native software, so I have no clue if you can use it and how. If you can make Vice emulator work with sidblaster then you can use it.

    You can't import a sid file and modify it. It's much like a "compiled" executable. You need for the original author to send you the source file and open it in the software they used to create it.
