I initially thought the broken trace wires were long enough but then realized we needed to run wires to make the connection.

Much respect, NF. Well done. You saved that board from being garbage. Whoever removed the old daughter board didn't know about low melt solder, and ripped those pads & traces fighting with it. Shame on them. I've seen it a million times. Probably 80% of my work is oddball commercial and industrial stuff. These are good clients -- they need their stuff working YESTERDAY, but pay the urgency tax without blinking. Eyelet and trace repair best done prior to installing replacement parts. The goal is to make repairs that will not be ruined by future repairs. Equipment can be in service for decades, and be repaired many times, so ideally, todays tech leaves everything neat and tidy for future techs (at least, I do). FWI: eyelet repair kits are available to restore PTH's.

This was like an action movie. When I first saw the pin holes, I thought it was corrosion and my heart sank. Then you said it was just flux from the factor. I relaxed. Then came the plot twist: ripped traces! I was like 'oh lawdhammercy!' I saw you pan from right to left on the PCB and thought, "Dang! That's a long stinking board". I don't think I have ever seen you use more solder and Q-tips in one sitting on a single project since I started watching your videos. Broken traces were fixed and you coolly smiled like a pro. Man! This was stressful. Great job.

When a trace comes off in such a way, wouldn't it be more prudent to use more solder mask to lay it back down where it was? rather than using another wire? obviously using a wire where needed on top. The reason I say this is because the trace will be the exact route with the bends on the board and so just adding solder mask would just stick it back to the board. Soldering extra wire where needed. Obviously in this instance the board being soldered on would have to be done AFTER using this other method of re-masking the existing traces. This would eleviate the difficult areas if possible. After fixing the loose traces back to the board, to then re-solder the other board back to the mainboard. Just a thought.

Excellent work! Those electronic boards are prone to failure and when they do, you need a technician to fix it or buy NEW equipment. There are computer-controlled washing and drying machines that are built to self-destruct. I have a 25-year-old washer and dryer with no computer circuits. Only had to do maintenance once with each machine with a few replacement parts like belts and cogwheels, cleaning up the insides, and it keeps going. Glad you are able to save this equipment from the landfill.
