This is when Hollywood could make great movies with NO agenda's . Just good pure story telling. With action! And as long as we have them in our movie collections they can NEVER be forgotten about or in 2022 NEVER be cancelled👍👍👍👍

There were "agendas" in films back then if you went looking for them. Even this film black actress playing a lead in a big budget film opposite one of the biggest white stars in the world as a quasi love interest was a milestone. Even Bill Duke eludes to this fact in this very interview. Films have always had agendas but in some cases depended on which side of the agenda you were on as to whether you picked up on it. Not to mention unless someone pointed it out many didn't realize it. With the internet and social media we have easy access to the opinions of millions of ordinary people and take queues from that. People have just become more aware due to the social media echo chambers they hang around in.

Back when hollywood understood entertainment. And also human nature. A man's inner will to take on the whole world. I know that's how I feel often in this world. That's why many people hold this movie dear. What goes on on screen is what goes on in a man's heart. They bring out one of the most human aspects of humanity. This movie is beautiful.

A lot of people rave about Vernon Wells in this film, and rightly so he was awesome in it, but Bill Duke always seemed the most convincing to me, although Cooke was a relatively small part, I always felt he was the most genuinely fearsome opponent Arnold faced in this film. Absolute classic all around though, the 80's cheese has aged like a fine wine 😂

Commando was the second movie I bought on VHS (the first was The Last Starfigter), and I still have it now. Commando's still a unique action movie. Even the cover is a cool looking army green colour. One part of the movie I've never understood, though, is why is Bennet wearing a knitted grey vest? It is supposed to be chain mail? It makes him look like more of a weirdo than a tough guy.

It was supposed to be a punkish chainmail outfit except the previous actor playing Bennett (that was replaced by Vern) was twice as small as Vern. So Vern had to wear the chainmail that was way too small for him but he made it work.

And Phoebe is from that enchanting show when those pre-Christian girls are beguiled who has never in a long time and unleashes a power of a lack of gravity by floating the entire time which is a pretty interesting thing to do, especially not even a drone can be helped or involved into you as snapping pictures or recording videos in the air you know.

For your Information. Commando didn't started the " one man army " movie genre. That was Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo in First Blood back in 1982 ( Commando came out in 1985 ).

First Blood isn´t a one man army type of movie. Missing in Action is. And it came out before all of those, in 1984. If First Blood was a one man army movie, so is Death Hunt that came out before First Blood.

I respectfully disagree. Missing in Action came about two years after First Blood ; and Death Hunt was not about a " war veteran " , but about a,trapper that was being pursued by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Why do faces keep getting purposefully blurred when the original picture is shown? Is it copyright laws or something?

@Adam Edwards I could believe it these days, with every year that passes it gets harder to congratulate women on their beauty.

In the 80s it was over-the-top. Compared to movies these days it's pretty realistic. LOL
