Kinda a matter of numbers. If you field 1 BX and 10 B2s for every 1000 B1s, the odds of a B1 getting a lucky shot in is much higher.

That line of the BX being constructed before the clone wars is extremely impressive to serve in the wars and not be destroyed. Really goes to show just how great those BX units are.

I mean if regular BX droids can give standard jedi a fair shake, although they likely dont usually win, they still prove decent adversaries. Against regular forces like Clones and the sort yeah I could for sure see one lasting. Im pretty sure Commando droids are kinda on the same level as Clone Commando's maybe a little bit weaker, but that's probably just because all the clone commando's we see are more plot centric characters while BX are reserved for being enemies.

@@manofgod448I wouldn’t put them at clone commando level but they certainly are lethal and a droid that’s been around for a VERY long time with hundreds if not thousands of hours of experienced and battle logs tend to develop personalities and their own combat doctrine. In short a BX Commando Droid is a threat. An old BX Commando Droid is a nightmare!

I like how the BX humors the questions a little , while B2 is completely dismissive and dry

I think bx as commandos are given more freedom and intelligence since they need it to be effective commandos. B2s are enforcers and need to be loyal and strong. Not smart and cunning

I think my favorite was between two BX droids: "There was a malfunction in maintenance." "Is it fixed? It's not my responsibility. I won't do it." "I sent a B1 to resolve it." "Then it is likely much worse by now." I love how completely exasperated BX droids sound. Also, I hacked a B2 and had it fight a BX after I heard them arguing. B2 won.

Fun fact: Battle Droid memory data is in the head (which is the hardest part of their entire body to destroy); if the head remains intact and is retrieved, chances are the data collected would contribute to battle efficiency. So the model in question was likely hot off the assembly line.

I will never not love the B1s. Their developed personalities show that, while garbage at combat, they're the perfect walking Automatons for practically every non-combat role. A B1 Bartender, Butler, Waiter, Janitor, etc. would be great.

I mean, Pit Droids lack the intellect to make *any* independent decisions, but they make competent mechanics. The reason they bicker as often as they do is because even if they want to destroy eachother (which they often do), their programming completely forbids it in situations where it would go against orders or basic protocols. So they instead bicker.

​@@CorwinTheOneAndOnly Interesting reason given why B1's chatter so much and talk out loud is because they're manufactured on the cheap and en masse for only security purposes before the war, and tacking frequent batches of combat and logistical data to gain more flexibility in their roles during the Clone Wars onto their simpler processor causes their logic to 'lag', resulting in overt personality quirks and them having to reiterate what's been said or even questioning orders briefly. Presumably, not that it's said anywhere, Raiders just reprogrammed them to follow their orders instead, so they still have that problem. Story time: Something similar happens when droids just don't get memory wiped routinely, developing more of a personality because they're not constantly reset and can 'ponder' about experiences they've had. There's a bittersweet short comic where one B1 is damaged during a battle and walks away from the battle when it's severed from the droid collective giving it constant orders, so it wanders off taking in the sights for once and seeing the wake of destruction it's taken part in, and all it's compatriots that have died so unceremoniously and blindly loyal as fodder. A B2 grappler droid tries to forcibly take it back into the fold, confused on why it's defying attack orders, forces it off a cliff after snipping off it's arm and they both fall, the B2 gets crushed and damaged beyond repair. The B2 still confused at the B1's defiance, especially because they'll both run out of power without a recharge. B2's signal to the droid collective also goes offline along with it's power starting to falter, making it apprehensive about going offline, the B1 stays with it so it isn't alone, which is illogical to the B2. "You can't have much energy left-why waste it? It's pointless. It's suicide." "I'd rather have two days of freedom than go back to what I was." The B2 damaged and out of power, shuts down. The B1 goes up the valley and looks at the battle, deciding it still wants freedom from it's short lived and doomed existence, even if it's only for a short while. It sits down on a hill and observes nature, going offline, then it cuts to some years after the Clone Wars and some farmers salvage the droid, surprised it's intact and not in the valley where their planet's conflict took place, and recharge it to give it the task of being a simple farmhand, not used and abused for murder :D

It's so damn interesting to see droids of various intellects and consciousness, some are complete machines with their only want to follow orders, and others have gained personalities whether because of age and experience or errors in their programming, some respect the chain of command even to lesser models, and others don't care about the chain of command because they believe they are superior due to their personalities, and they just don't give a fuck.

"I am not programmed to hinder" is my favorite one

B2's: We're better than you. *Jedi ignites lightsaber* B2's: Okay now we're equal.

I remember Commando Droids in Battlefront 2 had a cut line that he'd say when B1 Droids got a kill or captured a point "Good work unit". Wish they kept it, I always look out for my fellow Clankas.

You could probably sit there and listen to a B1 talk for an hour.

I like how softly the other B1 at the gate speaks, you can tell the dynamic between the two before the Commando had to be a buzzkill.

b1s have too much capacity for deviation in their code to be effective soldiers, causing them to seem dumb. B2s have too little, causing them barely march forward and fire weapons. Commanders are the right amount of A.I. deviation and rigidity for a perfect mechanical soldier, but apparently require too much hardware to mass produce. Using a sort of update system, the ideal Droid Army would consist of Commander brains dedicated to creating the best movement patterns for combat, using strong, agile limbs and constantly advancing their combat, performing moves that it would take a sentient years to master Perfectly upon download and capable of adapting those moves to any combat scenario. These would be supported by an Update Hub of sorts, a commander drone with extra hardware capable of using tactics from the network across the galaxy to guide these theoretical b3s in the best ways possible for the situation, communicating each team of them to work with frightening speed and efficiency alongside other teams. Each team would work together as if one mind via radio transmissions, which can be switched to Audio Transmissions instead if Jammed, or light flashes if jammed and operating in space. Stealth modules can be equipped to unifiedly operate via Infrared flashes or via local wildlife vocalizations. Basically, the droids had potential, but were made assembled poorly.

I like the voices. Their arguing like older and younger siblings. Makes sense too

Honestly, in a head-to-head combat, 2 B1s with synchronised fire have a high chance of killing a jedi since it is hard to align a sword to parry both shots at once, impossible for 3 and will require repositioning or avoiding head-to head combat. Honestly if droid squads were programmed to fire simultaneously at jedi - it would be deadly and it is much easier to do than to train organics to shoot simultaneously

The funniest part is that B1 is the most intelligent battledroid of the bunch. They operate vehicles, maintain weapons, even crew starships. No other battledroid is this versatile, not even the BX.

Idk but I picture the B2’s and BX droids as elder brothers whenever they interact with B1’s. Its almost like B2’s and BX droids getting constantly annoyed by their pesty younger siblings.

We have to deal with these bucket-heads daily...

I feel bad for the B1's. I'd love to have one as a kooky friend. Just totally snowball him, convince him to turn on his former masters and be happy to do it, then help me lead a B1 Uprising, and liberate them from slavery.

We NEED a "middle earth: shadow of war" game, but instead of LOTR, it's Star Wars, you're on your home planet controlled by the CIS, you're on a quest to liberate yourself, and you use a hacking device to take over droids instead of a dead elf to take over orcs!!

I’m glad that commander droids get more voice lines they were awesome back in the clone wars series.

Would have been cool to see the droids actually thinking they're better like for example some super tactical droid creates a faction of his own, that would've been great (much better than what the sequel trilogy has given us anyway)

I think I like the BX droids even more now.

B1's always had so much personality.

One important thing to remember about B1 battle droids is how many times in the clone wars we saw the Jedi deflecting their shots directly in front of their body or a clone. Storm troopers flat out miss while droids would hit their targets if a Jedi wasn’t involved. The bad batch shows with no Jedi or plot armor and a good strategy they are quite the effective fighting force.

If I was in the Clone Wars I would've been cracking up every time a B1 spoke.

It doesn't matter where they appear or what type they are, battle droid dialogue will always be hilarious.
