In the Rebels episode with Rex in Season 2 when they brought him back, he still called himself Captain to Ezra and Kanan and the others. Guess they will need to do some edits to the canon so they don't start making a mess of it like how critics of the EU say.

Ehhh I disagree. Palpatine was about experienced as they come. Going threw thousands of years worth of holocrons and other Sith and Jedi artifacts. Not to mention he and plagus studied philosophy, statesman ship science, warfare and countless others. Too say Palpatine had less experience then pretty much any mortal in the galaxy simply is false. Even Yoda probably knew less. Tho Yoda most likely knew more about the Jedi his overall knowledge on topics would most likely pale in comparison too Palpatine. This isn’t to say either one was better just Palpatine probably knew more despite being younger.

@@nickwilson3499 yeah ur right. i guess it stemmed from his mother dying and then when he couldn't "legally" marry padme. and then i guess he was just mad at the council. probably the tipping point was in revenge of the sith maybe when the council said to spy on palpatine or when he wasn't given the rank of master. probably when windu was going to kill palpatine is when he truly turned. but still it was a big mistake not giving anakin the rank of master.

Nick Wilson If he was promoted to Jedi Master, he wouldn’t have turned to the dark side. The reason he turned as easily as he did was because he already had trust issues with the council. Had they made him a Jedi Master, those trust issues wouldn’t been replaced with a lot more trust on Anakins end. But instead, they were made worse with being denied the rank of master, further solidifying in Anakins mind that the Jedi Council didn’t trust him, as he didn’t trust them.

I think the clone ranks aren’t as accurate as real life. I think Rex commanded the 501st but the personal company he ran with was torrent. In one episode Rex orders different 501st battalions to get into AT-TEs. Although Rex had the duties and command of a commander he just wasn’t promoted.

Yeah, you actually COULD say that he was a commander, the actual explanation was that he only wasn't given the official promotion because it was going to be given to him, but as a commander he would have to be in the back lines to oversee the battles, but he wanted to be in the front with his men so he stayed a captain

Big Mike The only way I see it happening is either during the opening intro for the next few episodes it gives us glimpses at the battle and Grievous with some cool shots of him slaying Jedi left and right or we see him in the continuation of the Clone Wars as confirmed by Clone Wars producers. Apparently they are getting very good repetition on the new season so they are deciding on added more episodes kind of the like the lost missions.

The Maykr If they finished the Utapau arc we'd see a lot of New Grievous, and that's the most finished 4 episode arc besides the Bad Batch arc which obviously was already released, so if they add more it would most likely be Utapau

Big Mike Yeah that’s probably the whole reason why I wanted to watch Season 7 which was because of Grievous. He’s just such an interesting and cool character. Sad to see Disney threw him aside as some cartoon villain and now don’t even mention him in media anymore. Easily one of the most iconic characters. Also I would love to see Boba Fetts arc where he duels Cad Bane

God, Order 66 is going to be one hell of a punch in the gut. There’s still a part of me clinging on to the hope that the 332nd will disobey the order.

They will obey, they have inhibitor chips. This means that Rex (who removed his because Fives is a legend) will have to sneak Ahsoka (who is bright orange) past an entire Republic siege army and the associated fleet. Oh boi.

+Korps_of_Krieg 40K Ahsoka was the Commander, but Obi Wan said she’s no longer affiliated with the GAR since she left the Order. Therefore, the Commander position was open for Rex’s promotion with Ahsoka as his Adviser.

Also, theres more than one "Commander". Ahsoka was probably Brigadier Commander before she left. Then maybe Appo filled that position. But there are lower ranked Commanders than that

No no no! That makes no sense at all! Every legion (legion! Not battalion, regiment or corps) Has a senior commander. Their were regimental commanders who led them, and under those were battalion commanders. Rex was only a captain and Jedi Liason. He only became a Battalion Commander. He was just Jedi Liason. Most Liasons are commanders, but if a Jedi wanted too, they could pick a Trooper as a liason and make them out rank everyone. Rex only became a battalion commander when he led the 322nd Battalion.

No every legion had a jedi commander and a jedi general the jedi commander was the Padawan of the general and there is a clone commander who actually led it

I’m pretty sure even before the promotion, Rex was basically a commander anyway

Yes, I had a theory for this before the latest episode. My theory is that Rex was a senior commander the entire time, BUT he gained his fame and popularity when he was a captain. So when people met him, they knew he was a Senior Commander, but they still called him Captain cause that's how they found out about them

This episode was literally one of my favorites. It's right up there with the episodes on the battle of umbara.

Ahsoka: I am a Knight Rex :I am a Commander Anakin: I am a master... on the inside. Note: honestly anakin is already a technical master just not official. Some knights, politics, padawasn and even dooku call him a young "master" skywalker. Plus had a padawan already too

Joshua Wells because Ahsoka left the Order, she wasn’t allowed to lead the 332nd to Mandalore. So Rex was promoted to Commander to lead with Ahsoka.

I always thought Ahsoka was the technical commander. With Anakin being the general, and then Rex as the highest ranking clone leader, Ahsoka filled that gap.

Rex deserved to be commander WAY WAY before this but I’m glad they still made it official.

Watching Captain Rex become a commander was like watching your child grow up into a successful adult, you were proud of hime every step of the way

"What do you think will happen over what's left of the arc?" Why, heartbreak, of course.

No kidding. I actually choked up a bit when that door opened and they had all painted their helmets. Nice touch. Not sure why when they get to Mandalor Rex is wearing his usual blue and white again though, when the rest went with the painted Ahsoka helmets. My only guess is that they did it purely so you can identify him in the action sequences.

The intro of Rex shooting the clone-eating worm in the eye is absolute classic gold. The recruits are just like “woah”. That scene always make me lol.

Can someone explain how RoTS can take place over 4 days if padme’s pregnancy looks to progress more than 4 days time

The loyalty of the troopers in those final episodes made me cry man tears

Vaughn's death was so touching, even tho he was a quick character his death was as emotional as fives and every other clone death. I love him. R.I.P

9:23 only 4 days really? After the battle of Coruscant anakin didnt know padme was pregnant but at the end of the film she gives birth. I think it's much more than 4 days

It sucks how Vaughn died as soon as he introduced. He could of been another loyal soldier to Ashoka if he survived but he most likely would’ve obeyed order 66.

Though Vaughn didn't get get much screentime, I'm so thankful for the massive gap in the lore his existence finally fills in the Clone organizational structure. It always irked me more than it should've that as far as we knew there was there was no subdivisions of the clone unit, so it's dope that we now have captains to command smaller elements of a legion.

He probably always sees himself as a Captain and doesn't seem to care about rank ("Experience outranks everything"), hes also an ARC trooper but basically never mentions that, AND he didnt meet up with Wolfe and Gregor until long after Order 66 so they would either never know or be too old to remember a new title for Rex.

I really hope they show us Rex helping Ahsoka escape the great purge, and them taking the chips out of their heads.

You have no idea how much I want to see the battle of Courascant in clone wars animation.

Captain Rex- promoted at long long last to the rank of commander Ahsoka- more or less earned the rank of knight Anakin-still hasnt earned the rank of master. RIP

Jessi is in the background of one of the gunships and I’m scared Rex is going to have to kill him during order 66. Either that or Maul is going to kill him. He’s the only other background clone we know and see now.

Kross right when Almac calls them and he jumps out before Rex. He’s not seen for the rest of the episode but he’s not dead. They won’t just casually kill him. Arc troopers in this show seem to always have special deaths.

Ryan Chan I’m completely forgot about that scene and it does make sense. If he does read his mind then Jessi too would know of order 66 and Maul wouldn’t want others knowing about that regardless.

The timeline of events in ROTS is roughly 9 months. Check the progression of Padme's pregnancy. She shows no signs after the battle of Coruscant but she tells Anakin that she is pregnant. By the end of the film on with her meeting with Vader on Mustafar she is clearly several months into the pregnancy. With that in mind, the seige of Mandalore lasted somewhere within the last 9 months of the clone wars along with the rest of the outer rim seiges in places like Felucia and Mygeeto.

I think maul will kill him. In the trailer you see maul not force choke but technically read someones mind. That person looked like jesse

Can I just say the animation in this last arc is amazing. So fluid, so smooth, and somehow better than the last 8 episodes.

I loved everything about episode 9! It had everything I would want: Lots of action, new (named) clone troopers, and Asoka back leading the 501st! It was everything I want all those years ago!

The commander of the 501st was Asohka, Jedi padawans we’re given commander status and knights/masters are given general. Also I feel like they only called him captain Rex instead of commander is because it sounds better

Vaughn was so cool, he was like Cody but cooler looking. I thought it was sick how he almost killed Saxon before he ran away.

Makes perfect sense. Since Rex was formally promoted they needed a captain for torrent company or the "332nd" Vaughn apeared to be the one promoted to captain.

2:30 its a small cool detail but it's rare to see clones using their stocks on the DC-15

I hadn't thought about this before now, but maybe the 4 episodes of this final Clone Wars arc mirrors the 4 days over which Revenge of the Sith takes place.

Lol this episode showed the parallels of Obi Wan and Cody with Anakin and Rex. With Obi Wan and Cody being serious and following protocol while Anakin and Rex are all about showing off and being spontaneous.

This defective clone's voice sounds *_familiar_* I remember hearing this voice some years ago, when there only a mere 10,000 clones serving this channel.

This is easily the best episode in the whole series

I think it took so long for Rex to get promoted to commander because he was a CT (as mentioned by Krell in Season 4, and confirmed by Jesse in Season 7), unlike Cody, Bly, and Wolffe, who were CCs. There was likely an institutional glass ceiling on the rank attainment of CTs. Only allowing clones specifically bred to be officers to make commander sounds like something those Kaminoans would do, and like something that Palpatine would implicitly endorse.

I'll be so sad when it ends but it'll be awesome for it to finally have a ending where it was on a cliff hanger for so many years

I hope we get more seasons the show has and still is my favorite star wars series
