    I think that was the moment he truly started to realise what he was forced to do. He fought alongside Obi Wan Kenobi for years but in the space of a second he had his control taken away and shot down the guy who had risked his life on not just his account but for the whole 212th. Makes you wonder if Cody ever sought out Obi Wan to apologize

    @@haydenfowle7576 No he didn't, Rex had Ahsoka at gun point but managed to hold the chip off long enough to miss and give her time, rewatched the scene and COdy simply get the order and tells a walker to "blast him", Obi-wan lived simply because the gunner either aimed poorly, or if anyone did something like Rex it was the gunner managing to delay his shot and hitting close enough to cause Obi-wan to fall and not get hit directly. Either way Cody did not do anything to save Obi-wan. But I do thing it would have been harder for COdy to resist as he's more by the books then Rex. But he clearly felt some regret or guilt, enough to regain himself and defect fromt he Empire. I hope we'll soon see more of Cody.

    @@TheZamaron if you're gonna compare a scene from episode 3 and Rex you don't get to act like the chip was a thing in 3. Because it wasn't it's a retcon so in lore we can say that but it was a completely different approach to the situation. In the movies they were professional soldiers order 66 was a mandate by the senate agreed upon and put in place. They got their orders and for all they knew it was 100% true. What makes no sense about that is it was only necessary for one person to activate and confirm such an order. But seeing as sidious practically controlled the senate it likely wouldn't have mattered.

    I honestly really like this interpretation of post-Clone Wars Cody. The old Legends version of Cody was depicted as going all in on the Empire, probably as a way to cope with any lingering guilt he may feel. But to me actually showing Cody grappling with that guilt and all the regret of the war is a nice change that I think really works with how the clones got fleshed out as a thinking, living characters during the Clone Wars show. Here is Cody, the model clone soldier with a record of truly exemplary service and not a single instance of ever disobeying a direct order. And yet even after all that, in the end he decides "F*** this, I'm leaving" because even he's tired of the Empire's hot BS and its treatment of the clones and the people of the galaxy.

    Legends Clones also didn't have the chip. That was something Filoni (MAYBE Lucas too, depending on how far his influence ran in TCW) added that became the new canon. Old canon was the clones being conditioned with loyalty primarily to the Republic/Empire and Palpatine. Not everyone stuck with it, but the outliers seemed to be mostly ARCs and Commandos if I recall.

I mean look at the reception to Ahsoka. Some of its on the show just having a problems but a lot of people just don't know what's going on because they only watch live action star wars which made Ahsoka REALLY hard to get into for those casual fans (who are still a huge part of the fan base). Plus it is kinda needed for even hardcore fans since the Disney purchase. Disney made so much of the EU non canon and ambiguous for so long. I mean Clone Wars didn't even get to finish. A lot of books and comics and etc are still only Canon until Disney's sauron eye gets sight on a milkable idea they can ruin. Dave being allowed to shape the new Canon in a way respectable to the old for more casual audiences is great.

    I love that we are seeing more and more clones break out of the Empire, both because they see how it treats the civilians they fought to protect, and because the influence of Order 66 is fading. However, it seems that even years after it, and possibly even after removing their chips, clones can have an adverse reaction to seeing a Jedi, like how Wolfe reacted, just from the trauma of having gone through order 66.

    I know Dave wants to use the clone serial numbers to show the clones being dehumanized, but citizens of the star wars galaxy don't even bother calling droids by their full designation which are usually only 2 letter and 2 numbers. So the idea that Imperial officers would say all those serial numbers instead of using names is absurd. Names like Cody and Rex are much more efficient and convenient.

    This just goes to show how brainwashed they were when Order 66 was given. This combined with Rex's ability to hold off the order from outright taking over his body momentarily shows just how much they didn't want to hurt the Jedi but were given no choice. They were quite literally forced to turn on their allies and quickly too. All the bonds, the jokes, the laughs, they were all genuine. The betrayal and mass murder of the Jedi, was not.

  • @aWildMoke
    @aWildMoke4 ай бұрын

    What this show really proved was that the Clones were loyal to the Republic and the inhibitor chips made the Jedi "traitors to the Republic" and forced even those who doubted that claim to turn on the Jedi. But once Order 66 was complete there were no "traitors" who they were brainwashed into killing left and the Republic they were programmed to be loyal to no longer existed. It takes some clones like Crosshair longer to realize that they were played than others but eventually they all started to realize that the Empire didn't care about them and they owed the Empire no loyalty if it wasn't returned.

    Very sad to think all the Clone commanders who had to kill their Jedi comrades and didn’t know about the chip thought it was their doing and their choice that they have to live with.
