    There's something about Tiberian Sun that no other RTS has ever managed to replicate, and that's the post apocalyptic atmosphere of the game. Everything from the looks to the music has this cold abandoned feel. It feels like you're always fighting over a dead world that's never coming back no matter how many victories you win or hard you fight. That's how I always felt playing this game as a kid.

    The old games just had this feel. It was not always rational, but always very emotional. They were less serious and "realistic", but more artistic. Modern games are the opposite, maybe because of higher graphical fidelity, but they just don't hit any close. That, and also we got older, of course.

    Agreed! Tiberian Sun atmosphere is the best! I played other RTS games as well but nothing feels like Tiberian Sun. The combination of designs, looks, & music in Tiberian Sun always keep me coming back playing this game. Even saying the name 'Tiberian Sun' alone gives my mind the excitement.

    @@g3nkamgaming Same. I always thought the developers should increase the dimensions of the pavement. Maybe instead of a 4x4 section, make it an 8x8 section, or even a 12x12 section. It's just one of those quality-of-life considerations. I also wish the pavement covered the ground immediately surrounding existing structures just to make it look a little more seamless.

    One of the reason I like survival games now, where I can build for both practicality and aesthetics. If RTS games had a similar mechanics, where aesthetics are also important, not just piling things together, that would be actually great. I can see so many hours spent on such things. It wouldn't be any game that can become cybersports like Starcraft, of course.

    As a base builder myself, I want to share a "trick" that I always perform before even starting the game. You already know about it probably, but maybe it can be of help for someone: inside the rules.ini file, that you can find in the folder of the game, are listed all NOD and GDI buildings, among others. Every building has a property called "adjacent". Usually is 2 or 3, and this is the number of map tiles that represent how far you can place that building. Just change it to 50, or 99 as I always do. You can now build all around the map without the need to create several MCVs.

    Thank you! Yes, I used to mod Tiberian Sun in the past. The modding community was awesome back in the day, changing how the game behave, adding new structures and units, etc. But I never really modify the adjacent very much. Thank you for the trick!

  • @oshie15

    @oshie15

    Жыл бұрын

    I had a same type of trick, without changing any files... if you have buildings "ghost" out, move it right next to the build bar on the right, so that its right on the edge of disappearing under it. While the ghost is white on the edge, click and HOLD the LMB, and move the mouse curson over the bar. Then, use the arrow keys to move the camera to the location you wanna build. Make sure the area there has open ground for the building UNDER the buildbar. Then, when you are certain of the free space under the build bar, release the LMB. The structure should be built under the bar, at that location.

    Just a theory but by meeting your power needs with just stock power plants means that you are less likely to unknowingly over extend your power grid as you expand your base. This means that once you are pretty much done building you can go back and start build turbines and finish hardening your power grid against enemy attacks. Also by spreading out the power plants it makes it hard for super weapons to knock out your power grid as well.

    Nod artillery was able to do this in groups, like 4 of them (removing upper layers, clearly not able to fix "holes" / lower lvls... Up to this day I wonder to what point would be imposible to add something to fix this, like auto-lvl terrain with concrete
