USA mission 5 is piss easy, just don't destroy the entire GLA base at the beginning, capture the Supply Stash/Command Center and build a ton of SCUD Storms. Mission accomplished.

@@Patato12341 My friend, the only thing you need to do in there is destroy/capture the first base but leave the command center alone, gather a huge army, capture/destroy the command center, charge then watch the chaos

The fighting in the city is pretty intense in this game... Urban warfare on Generals is sweet

My only tip for this mission is don't construct buildings that are at the edge of your base layout or rocket buggies and scud launchers will target them

I beat it after 4-5 tries (on easy) and decided to see if everyone else had the same problem. The hilarious thing is that I beat this 13 years ago when I was only 7! Yet now I am 22 and I struggled like crazy!

Did you know? China Mission 8, GLA Mission 3 and USA Mission 5 all exist in game files but are not playable. I went through the INI.big file and the Maps.big file and found the China Mission 8 is a grey terraformed map. GLA Mission 3 is completely skipped and the playable mission 3 is named GLA04 not 03. USA Mission 5 is interesting, though. It has an unfinished city and textures on the ground spelling out 'I need an airfield.' This was possibly a map before the airfield was even in the game, however that is just my theory. These are all in the game files and I just wanted to share this with you.

I know I'm a bit late but the GLA Mission 3 contains, most likely, the cut mission "Black Sheep", which was a mission where you were supposed to kill 200 civilians with the help of Toxin Tractors and infantry. It was cut just before release and replaced with the Angry Mob mission in Astana, however, EA released it as a small surprise gift a couple of years ago, so you can download and play it actually :-)

The key to winning this game is ensuring you build a nuclear reactor and once their scud storm timer runs out dont get your balance above 5K. If your balance stays below 5K they never fire the scud storm.

I got through this one by using all proceeds to build loads of turrets and power stations and just using the long range barrage to slowly destroy all targets. Took like 4 hours lol

Haven't played this for years until the last week, great game. Just completed this on brutal after 10 tries because I didn't know about the 5k = scud storm rule sooooo Thanks for post :)

Won this one on my second try after being pounded by SCUDs. Just captured the initial supply stash, built tunnel networks near the base entrance and concentrated a lot of forces near them. GLA will fire the SCUD storm on the units at the entrance of the base, so when that happens, just evacuate all your defending units into the tunnels. Once the SCUD storm is finished, unload the units back and rebuild the networks if needed.

Best advice if you are struggling in this mission: Dont go over 5k$ and scud wont lunch. Dont build a supply in the far right side of the map so the enemy wont keep spamming units.

For me the trick is to just not be afraid of the scud storms. Build the base slightly spread out so it can't destroy much. Don't built stationary defenses, just use overlords because they can heal each other and gatling cannon can take down units, and use the general promotion to get the long distant nuke things which can take out buggies, and use super hackers for money. When the scud storm comes, just move them all. If you do it right you can gain more in between scud storms than you lose and eventually be able to build enough to overpower the enemy.

This mission is a pain in the ass.

np mate, I aint the best player and bare in mind this was done on easy as was a testing phase for fraps and win 7.

For those still trying to beat this mission: the scud storm only launches if you have 5000 bucks or more...which just happens to be the price of a nuclear missile. Your best option at this point would just be to keep spending money on units, then zerg rushing the shit out of the enemy.

Just installed the game after like 8 years of not playing... this mission still fucks me up

It is a challenging mission, but it is my favourite in this game. You struggle in the beginning, but at some point you gain the upper hand and the enemy is toast. I let the infernal /atomic guns steady fire on one point of the incline. Most important are the funds and the destruction of the Scudstorm.

7years ago i was having hard time doing this mission on hard mode lol and it made me uninstall the game today i came back to have a revenge and spent 3 hours playing and Finally able to defeat this mission lol i did the exact strat as you did and it works thank you Sorry for bad English

wow the amount of people here who've never played generals and think this mission is difficult is pretty astounding! this mission is easy. keep your cash under 5000 and they never launch the scud. if you're clever you won't destroy the gla outpost and would instead capture it. (also if you're even smarter you would use it to promote your overlords to max (general) which makes them near indestructible) after that build a nuke and scud storm. take the oil derricks at the base of the mountain and move in with the overlords. (you could also soften up the defences with 8 migs with black napalm) if you want, take out the enemy scud storm with a level 3 artillery strike (they will rebuild it though) or capture it with a black lotus/jarmen kell combo. (jarmen kell takes care of the inf and stingers and lotus captures :) and mission complete! you have saved china! YAY YAY!!!

this mission is super duper hard if u didnt know wat to hit and when to hit first.......i give some tip and hint....Jarmen kell was in the tower near the GLA underground network(small base),Use MIG to scout the scud storm(this is 50%works),Scud storm wont launch until ur money is 5000dollar or more,lastly u juts need to build 2 flame tank and use fire wall at middle road to ur base to repel GLA attack and 2 overlord beside him,2 inferno cannon,and 2 gatling cannon:)

I actually enjoyed playing this mission Splinter Cell-style wherein I let the enemy destroy everything I have except invisible units like Black Lotus, Jarmen Kell and a bunch camouflaged Rebels (yes, I captured the small GLA base at the start) and have them infiltrate the heart of enemy base. The thrill of dodging Tunnel Networks, Stinger Sites and Toxin Tractors and the map getting littered with numerous unmanned vehicles thanks to (JK's sniper attack) are what make it soooo fun for me. Funnily enough, my Black Lotus succeeded infiltrating and capturing the heart of enemy base, using their own Scud Storm against them whilst some of my Rebels use their pilot-less vehicles. The tides turned in my favor but the mission just didn't end at all and I ended up restarting the whole thing and finished it the way you did. I guess you'd really have to destroy not capture for this mission to be complete

@@datvik7187 I didn't. I have a feeling that the mission would end if I did EDIT: Fun fact! The enemy knows where your units are (except for invisible ones). I realized this when I tried another thrilling playstyle where the only unit I have left is a captured Scud Launcher. The goal was to try destroying enemy structures one-by-one. No matter where you run, they will know where to find you but the weird thing about it is instead of sending their entire fleet to finish you off, they only send 1 Bomb Truck at a time. I remember the countless "Load Last Saved Games" by trying to find ways how to destroy the Bomb Truck but ended up being blown by another one.

The 4 overlords just destroyed their based without dying. Except the battlemaster tanks😁😂😂. Damn Overlord tanks are op to deal with

This mission on brutal difficulty is something else

Capture that supply depot at the beginning and you can built yourself GLA tunnels - Very handy!

Best thing to do is build your command center and your barracks in the ditch with one power plant. Then upgrade your barracks where they can capture. I then point the landing arrow up top and get two soldiers. I wipe out their tanks and such then capture their garage, their market, and their barracks before though I put the bulldozer up near the path down the hill. After that, I make 4 of their green trucks and 4 slaves from the market. This is done before they launch their first scud attack. I sacrifice the 4 trucks to run up the hill and then give their scud launcher an artillery barrage. I protect the path with 2 Gatling guns and sit up the hill picking them off as they come up. I also get Jarman Kel and send him to one of the towers done below. He take care of the people coming. I move all my equipment as a decoy away from the buildings and just before the scuds arrive I bring them back. This seems to work well for me.

If missiles are high explosive bomb, uploader might face an enormous barrier

This is THE one mission in all of Generals that I had NEVER beat!

This campaign is really difficult! I managed to beat it after 10+ tries. I think the biggest help is to capture the oil derricks located just a little north of your base, at the most eastern side of the map. The oil derrick will give you a continuous supply of cash with which you should train overlords and wear out the enemies' defenses.

***** I won it under 3 minutes on brutal, 1. drive the nuke trucks by themselves into the enemy gla base, alone. They enemy won't attack the trucks unless you have units near them. 2. Get 3 ranks of ambush in the generals powers. Position your nuke trucks between their command center, supply center, and arms dealer. 3. use the rebel ambush ability and use them to destroy the barracks, and attack the command center, the enemy gla will start attacking your nuke trucks. 4. when a truck is about dead, detonate them one at a time, to destroy the holes. 5. easy and quick win

I used a ton of migs and about 50 hackers raking in money to win, also used the black lotus cash stealing ability on the gla supply stash in the small base you attack at the start, gets you almost 10k, then capture it, and you can build gla stuff as well

Tip: Keep your money below $5,000 until the scud storm gets destroyed or captured

I created a full base and captured the gla supply stash and built gla structures as well. A supply stash and China supply vehicles both picking up money at the 2 start supply points. I kept 2 overlords 3 battle masters and 2 inferno cannons at base entrance for basically entire game. Created hackers and black lotus as well as a nuke. Then infiltrated the enemy base and captured their scud storm, supply stash, and command center and sold them for more money for hackers so I could make more units. Used artillery, EMP bomb, mine drop and nuke cannons to help defend base as well. And yes, I used nuke cannons later to help defend as well as air fields for scud launchers getting close to my base

The best (and hardest) missión in this game.

This mission was hard i always played normal, but this mission made me play easy, still didnt complete it, but i was proud of finishing USA and GLA mission and the last mission in China since i was just at 2nd grade.

tfw the ai is playing it's strengths (even though failing), and the human is doing a mindless overlord rush

It took me like forever to win this mission. Enemies didn't stop coming and money was really hard to get.

My strategy was to position all of my starting units at the chokepoint by the palace. There is a lot of area to build so I try to space out my nuclear power installations and all of my other buildings. I build as many hackers as I can to get money flowing. The first scud launch will typically try to maximize damage to my units. Once I hear that it has launched, I select my units at the chokepoint and move them immediately out of the way of the incoming attack. I know that if my tanks and cannons get hit my army will be crippled. When I reposition, the attack will likely miss my units, maybe destroy 1-2 max. Then I build an airfield and a nuke. At this point I should have a level 3 upgrade to the artillery barrage. I send 3 airplanes to the back center-right of the map to guard that region. One or two will get shot down but the third will reveal the scud facility and allow me to target the scud facility with the nuke and artillery strike (and/or EMP). Once the scud is down the rest of the mission is gravy. Built 3 more airfields (have them guard the ground units, expose more map), 3 more nukes, probably 12 more overlord tanks, bolstered them with one of each upgrade, propaganda center bonuses, nuclear launcher bonuses, Mig bonuses, etc., probably had $150k by the end of the mission because the hackers were on fire. At this point it's just fun to unleash fury, but it's definitely overkill. This took me about 6-7 times of losing on Normal difficulty before I got wise. I had to lookup online that hackers could make me money if I deployed them to hack the internet. Without hackers (or other exploits mentioned in the comments, I don't think I could have overcome the attacks. I forgot about the hacker detail since I hadn't played the game in over 15 years. I enjoyed the video above. It's cleaner than my approach. I'm loving playing this game again! I'm grateful that I could buy the game on Origin.

I suggest you put the defense button for your soldiers so you don't need to click on them too often to defend against enemy raids.

I used mines, emp and artillery to creep my way into scouting the scud storm while my tanks held the town. Spent all of my money on tanks the moment I could afford them. Managed to hit the left arms dealer with my arty while I was using it to scout for the scud, so I had less enemies coming at me. Found the scud. 2 hits of artillery on the scud and that was it. The enemy didn't repair or replace it. So after that, it was easy going. I just kept defending the town with troops and destroying the enemy base with artillery. I started taking less losses and saving more money to snowball.

USA Mission 7: Easy and exciting GLA Mission 7: Medium, and is so cool since its the connection of USA 1 in ZH China Mission 7: FFFFFFF

I wonder if you can complete this mission without abusing hidden scenario triggers, like the "launch SCUD strom on reaching $5000". I couldn't even on easy. Also, how come you just ignored the sniper while he shot at your vehicles, but he didn't take out any of them? My tanks usually were left without a crew after his few shots.

Best way to deal with the scud storm: send your migs on suicide missions to take it out

how do you deal the constant attacks of the rocket buggies and scud mobile launchers on brutal mode?

Did all this only to see some tanks and infantry walk through a ruined city... Worth it!

This mission is so difficult, even USA last mission is nothing compared to this. However, I managed to control the situation by keeping small groups of tanks to defend the city (3 groups in my case). This group consisted of an Overlord (upgraded with speaker tower), a gattling tank, 2 battlemasters, and an Inferno cannon. Having too large number of tanks will be disastrous since the battle occured in a downtown area. Large number of tanks will make your tanks hard to move and you'll have difficulties especially when groups of terrorists and rpg troopers are approaching. I finished the game by simply let my black lotus infiltrating the main base, capture the scudstorm, (and several buildings to divert enemies' attention), and finally destroy their base by using nuclear missile, artillery barrage, and their scudstorm. Also, MiGs are really helpful in helping your tanks, as their movements are not limited by the buildings

The best way to beat this mission is to capture their first base. Just make sure to not capture or destroy their supply depo, When you will level up with stars make sure you take the ability to steal money and use it on their supply depo. You will have tons of cash

Keep your supply to below 5k Scud launches if you reach 5k stock up on nuke cannons and prepare them to take over when a scud launches and hits the climb up your base

i think you should use mig to locate scud storm although you had to face stinger sites.my advise,use 8 or more mig and burn your money.When i play this mission,2 or 3 survive from scouting.

Tbh, this mission is very easy if you know the 5k strategy on this mission. I usually capture the GLA supply stash and start building some hackers. Just dont exceed above 5k credits then you are fine.

Do not collect 5000 credits- SCUDs will not be lunched.

It is possible (though challenging) to beat it by just charging straight in with the two overlords you have at the start (one upgraded with the speaker tower and the second with the Gatling gun) and no other units.

This mission is brutal even on normal. Even if you takeout their first outpost and sniper they'll just hit you with fucking everything and will not stop. Tried making an overlord squad but they immediately counter with waves of suicide bombers, rockets, buggies, and scud missiles that likes to hide in the FOW at all times. Not to mention the scud storm they'll launch on your base early in the game. It kinda sucks that you have to cheese the AI and keep your funds below 5k to keep the scud storm from launching.

Finished this on Brutal, was really challenging

BRUTAL MODE... tips... 1. purchase capture and capture GLA supply center to summon GLA builder and you can build GLA buildings..... 2 . build two blocks defense 2.1 one block from down hill and; 2.3 one chinese gattling and bunker with bazooka team at main base. 3. prio making money thru hackers.... make sure to hide them in safe distance 4. be aggressive on taking down enemy defense, one is da scud storm.... That u will win...

For me my tactic for this campaign is to use GLA against GLA. For that I can safe some resources for the GLA attacks.

Hardest mission of the game but the graphics sound was amazing👍

How are your overlord tanks taking direct hits from scud missiles and taking almost no damage?

I've captured those GLA's small base :)

How do you get the red crosses auto healing over your units? I'm playing this mission and my units don't do that and I'm getting my ass kicked!

its an upgrade on the overlord tank its the speaker upgrade mate :)

@@Si0r Thanks! I figured it out last night, but still got my ass kicked later. This mission is really hard. I am going to try a few skirmish matches as China, and have moved on to playing the USA campaign. Will come back to China mission 7 once I get better at the game.

Why did not the Scud missiles hit you? After all, you are a good player

keep your credits below 5k and the skud storm will not hit you

THE BEST TO DO: CAPTURE GLA FORCES FOR MORE DEFENSE AND OFFENSE. And you can take care of that SCUD

Big mistake not capturing gla supply stash. Jarmen and radar vans make it way easier

i remember playing this mission for the first time and had no idea about Kell. Just nuked the town. That solved it.
