I believe the Dakota gentleman may have sugarcoated the early relationship between the Ojibway and Dakota. Before the treaties between the tribes, the land wasn't safe for any man, woman, or child. The Fort Snelling early mission was to try to keep peace between the tribes and keep settlers out. I would suggest the migration of the Ojibway into the state was the root cause for Dakota displacement. Another gentleman stated Swedes dominated immigration over 8 decades. Actually, Germans and Norwegians dominated immigration into Minnesota, by far. Overall, a very good documentary.
