My family quotes this movie often. So many gems 😂 “Let them wait!” “Stop that man! Thief! Thief” “F*ck you & f*ck you, who’s next?” & “Momma named him Clay. Imma call him Clay” & “What is this? Velvet?” And we randomly bust out singing “she’s your queen to be” when we see something that reminds us of Oha or a African woman. I have said in many comment sections that Mr McDowell’s character redemption arc may be one of my favorites of all time. He comes off as greedy and materialistic throughout the movie, but his awesome true colors show through when someone upsets “daddy’s little girl”. “No way, you don’t have enough money to buy my daughter off”, and “This America, Jack! You say one more word about my daughter and I will break my foot off in your royal a$$!” are my personal favorite lines in the movie.

It’s also a glimpse into how nothing get done and money comes from both sides, but the wealthy side supports the wealthy interests instead of the countries. Support the Sugar manufacturers or the Dentist and Insurance companies? All votes go to keep the rich getting richer and you want to make change they’ll block you or make it difficult. The well being of others doesn’t compare to the greed of power and keeping it.

I have thought about if I would want the kind of attention that seems to follow "commoners" who marry royalty and that's not for me. I like privacy! But I would love to have the kind of money and influence that comes with being royalty, so I could help a lot of people (hopefully) and make some positive changes in the world. Lisa seems like that kind of person, so she's definitely going to be a hands-on "princess of the people".

Eddie Murphy's, Randy Watson & his band “Sexual Chocolate” ends the song on stage at the church & Randy Watson drops the microphone & walks away. You said "Mic Drop" because it's a well know thing. It is in fact, a well known & much copied thing today, because 'Randy Watson' dropped the mic & walked off the stage in the film "Coming to America" in 1988. Yes... This film was the start of it all, the origin of the 'Mic Drop'.

Great reaction! Love this film, Eddie and Arsenio are hilarious. Eddie has A LOT of films but I prefer his earlier work. For nonstop laughs try: Harlem Nights Boomerang Life And also 48hrs & Another 48hrs are great buddy cop comedies starring Eddie and Nick Nolte.
