Which was Richard Pryor he was so substantial when he needed people to unite. He talked about race relations when he didn't know if the network or Hollywood would censor him. I am so happy he and Redd Fox and Richard Pryor paved the way for these genius comedians.

They are performing in different times. Someone born in my time can't relate to how radical and ingenious Pryor was at that time because we didn't live in the era. Dave is the absolute best for my generation. In 50 or 60 yrs people will say someone surpassed Dave and I probably won't be around to tell them... who Dave was to us.

I can appreciate what folks are saying. It’s like who’s the GOAT in the NBA (MJ of course 😊). Or football (Walter) Or baseball. I loved Pryor in his day. It was also very sad when he got sick. Maybe it’s the “moment” and chappelle speaks to it so well that him in my esteem.

I’ll give you an example I’ve heard mr bean is very smart but to say his form of comedy is more intellectual by its dictionary definition would be wrong

I've seen Dave a few times. His ability to captivate your attention is something that can not be transferred through a screen. He is hypnotizing, you hang on every word he says and you never know where he is going but when he arrives there is brilliance but through a punch of hilarity. I agree with Kevin Hart in this video, he is the GOAT. if you ever get a chance in the future when things start to open back up go see him!

It's great to see people like Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock, who inspired Dave, acknowledging his talent.

I think what separates Chappelle from Carlin is that with Carlin, you always got the sense that the things he said, while hilarious and enlightening, were rehearsed. His delivery was a bit forced and he rarely gave the audience a second to absorb it. Chappelle lets the audience absorb. His delivery is better. The man said "Juicy Smool-yay" and let the audience figure it out, and it was absolutely masterful. Carlin could never do that. He would have kept going like nothing just happened.

While my personal favorite is still Carlin, chapelle is probably the best storyteller and has the best charisma of any comedian and he does it so effortlessly

I'm actually getting emotional, hearing all of my favorite comedians speaking so highly of Dave. We owe him so fucking much, what he's done for society, no only for comedy. He breaks the mold every time.

Kevin Hart got stuck in outta realm, he couldn't express his words clearly cus Dave is just a wonder. Dave's gifted, talented and focused, period. You can tell he doesn't have to deal with rehearsals from the beginning to the ending of his shows

The fact he’s been doing comedy since he was fourteen…fourteen- a child working in a wise man’s world and holding his own, remaining relevant, building a life of substance, respect, purpose and ethical conviction is what makes him the GOAT….not one scandal, not one overdose, no divorce, a father, a man’s man and unapologetically genuine in presenting himself to the world. Yes, Dave Chappell is one of a kind 💚

Chappelle is a perfect heir to the crown previously worn by Pryor, Carlin and Bruce.

The 🐐, masterful orator and a true cultural icon. Thank you Mr Chappelle. I saw him in Australia about 10 years ago and I’m proud that I managed to see the Richard Pryor of our time

Kevin Hart is absolutely correct on two points. First, Dave has surpassed Richard Pryor in my opinion. The thought process that develops Dave's material comes from a deeper place, maybe more intellectual and probably more weed. Second, Dave was probably never afraid of being canceled because he had already canceled himself once before. He has already experienced what life is like post stardom so at this point in his career, what is there to be afraid of? The healing power of laughter is underrated. In my opinion, comedians of all levels, are some of the true heroes of the 2020 epidemic. being able to pull up a video, laugh out loud, while facing social, financial, and health challenges for some people, a good laugh is priceless. But most people will rarely experience the true gift of laughter because they are too busy focusing on what might be offensive instead of the gift that's being delivered to their doorstep in the form of standup comedy. In my opinion, your sole purpose for viewing/listening to a standup comedian is to find something that makes you laugh. Not to determine whether or not he/she is a good person, who cares! It's just a profession called comedy.

Killing em softly is one of my all time favorite stand-ups.

Man I was born in 1998 but I grew up watching Chapelle show because we stole cable from the neighbors and that's all i watched he is the goat I still watch him now 10 years later

During his rise African American were not allowed on tv so Robin Williams would go to events and take others acts and go live on TV and play them out. Which is what landed him his roles in the first place. He was the Carlos before Carlos.

There's something very humbling about the way Bill Burr talks about Chapelle.

Love Dave and he's definitely on a level by himself, and it's a level only a few comedians have reached. I'll put him right there with Richard Pryor but not ahead of him yet. Richard was also on a level by himself with albums and movies, etc, just because he was popular in the 70s and 80s doesn't diminish what he meant to comedy. Richard blazed a trail for not only Dave, but Eddie and many others and if Dave is a GOAT so is Richard.

@John Anderson truth is, I'm right there with you... stand up comedy needs about 3 or 4 Mt Rushmore's... it was tough not to find a spot for Lenny Bruce, Redd Foxx, Chris Rock, Sam Kinison, Robin Williams, Eddie Izzard, Jerry Seinfeld, and I'm sure more than a few etceteras

He's one of the dudes that can take the piss out of any people and make them laugh about it. He's an equal opportunity offender. Much like Chris Rock. He hits everyone just as hard. Love it

The level of respect comedians have for DC is something I have never seen b4, they look at him almost like a mythical man, even Eddie Murphy who's basically a legend acknowledges Chapelle's greatness; no one has this kind of strength now a days, the courage/resource/talent to survive for 10 years without a strong $ flow is unheard of but the most amazing thing is when he comes back! he just picks where he left off!

I agree, both of them don’t give a fuck about public opinion and have no problem walking away from the money. Dave walked away from the spotlight for a few years and turned down his 50 million dollar deal, Eminem turned down a music tour with Dr dre 50 cent and snoop dogg because he wanted to spend more time with his kids. They both took a hiatus and came back and continued to be successful, and both of them disappear from the public eye until they’re ready to release something.

Comedy is an art form so every fan has a particular taste. For me, Chappelle IS the GOAT!

Those that are the Greatest don’t praise themselves, they are praised by others in their craft

Yea, well they are all great, but two stand out beyond, Dave and Bill. These two individuals are outstanding in their ability to get their overall insight across. It's unbelievable that when I was in high school and Chappelle's Show was the ultimate thing on TV, this was when Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy were considered the best. Then this guy that people might have recognized from Half-Baked or Robin Hood: Men in Tights suddenly finds his footing. Now, almost 20 years later, I'm watching clips of those other two comedians paying homage to someone that is their junior. It's mind-boggling to see just how quickly and indisputably someone can jump to the next level and leapfrog the next and then reach all the way to the top.
