I've gone to a Marc Maron show before, and what I liked about it was you really got a sense that he didnt know where the hell he was going to go with his act. But had the balls to go up there and figure it out as he went along. Fun to see it all come together.
DAMN If any comedian opened their set with " Is there a problem?!!" ide fuckin lose it quick lmao
My only complaint about this series is that the interviews are too short! What a great show.
Well shot, well edited, great theme and style, AND MOST OF ALL; Paul F Tompkins, the guy is a ridiculously good host. He's so level with everyone and brings out their natural side.
CBS is looking for a replacement for Craig Ferguson, and they should look no further. Paul F. Tompkins is the right person for the job. These speakeasy interviews are so damned good, and I could definitely see this very format adopted to an hour-long show. Speakeasy hits that sweet spot between Letterman and Charlie Rose - between frivolous 7minute product placement interviews, and more meaningful discussions about more meaningful topics. Funny, smart, insightful - PFT brings it every time. Fantastic.

What Paul says at 9:12 is sooo on point! Don't have expectations on what you think your "success" is supposed to be or look like! Just keep following your passion and do what excites you. Don't place limits on what the universe can bring you! You might end up creating a podcast from scratch and interview the president!
two of the best mustaches in the business. cheers
Two of the top comics working today.
I just discovered this guy from his show on IFC. Love this dude!

actually I think it's the fact that it's an interview with an interviewer, both of them want to take the lead, but also make it seem natural.
I changed a doorknob in my house. I just thought you all should know.
Marc Maron I hope you read this and know how inspiring you are as you are. The words you said in this interview were the words I needed to hear. (:
These 2 make me smile
I'm in that "I am NOT the guy" phase. Great interview as usual. Loving this series.

I hope the best for you. I'm still there but it's more fun now. I've bombed so hard now that when it happens I relish it. Just knowing people intensely hate me gives me such weird joy! My family and childhood friends saw me have a panic attack on stage and run off. Now it's just a funny story to tell :) I have no real dreams of a career but the rush I get from it is amazing.
Marc is the shit! Such an inspiration.
My two favorite interviewers of all time. I remember watching this when it came out and it introduced me to PFT, Comedy Bang Bang, just a whole world of the funniest people alive.
Ohhhhhh coffee, that makes sense. I thought groggy to hostile was describing his comedy style evolution, which I thought was switched
Great talk between two of my favorite comedians/podcasters/just d00ds!
Awesome interview. Paul F Tompkins is a great interviewer. He always gets the best out of his guests. Marc Maron is also the man!
I love this Style of Colors in this Video. Its awesome.
Maron is my favorite comic. I got to meet him in LA at the Steve Allen theater.

Mr. Peanutbutter! How could you? Those are Paul F. Tompkin's clothes!
This interview are so damn good! Like the one with Ben Schwartz. Actor/comedian's pain!
I knew it was going to be a great episode when Marc looked into Paul's camera within the first 10 seconds
10:13 is so very true.
I love Marc.
Two comedic giants at their best! Well, I’m exaggerating but it was still pretty great...
i fucking loved this episode. theres something uninhibited about maron's style of conversation that opens up dialogue to so much introspection and wisdom
i would love to see nipsey hussle on this

THE TITULAR MARON!!!
Are these shown somewhere else first? I ask because They're talking about upcoming stuff that happened months ago.

i think they shoot a bunch of them over a couple of weeks and then release them slowly and not necessarily in the order in which they were shot (which is why paul's moustache disappeared briefly)

Most likely they filmed a bulk of episodes so that PFT and everyone can work on other projects at the same time.
Please interview Anthony Bourdain!
Where does Hodgman fall on the "Punchable Face Scale"? I'm guessing somewhere.
Maron has natural ability to play himself. Who'd have thought?
TITULAR
I hope she made it
Caffeine wakes me up, but it also makes me a crazy angsty bitch. Sounds like Marc has the same problem. I do hot chocolate instead now. Paul F. Tompkins is ALL voice, he's like a persona while also being super open. It's kind of amazing.
Hostile? I don’t think so. I fall again for the click bait...Damnit
damn, I wanted to see him get hostile, LOL; Peace Marc, thanks poster.

Funny how Marc didn't mention Nobody Likes Onions when talking about starting his podcast. Not only was it the first and only show to have him on at the time but he couldn't stop talking about how inspired he was by Patrick Melton. Good job Marc, it's nice to know people don't forget where they came from.

Marc Maron's worth listening to (and the reason for his podcast success) because he's been in the business enough years and has a superb memory for the club owners, agents, and managers that make up the business supporting stand-ups he easily relates to his guests and gives the rest of us an insight into show business. He also can put together a pretty good set when he puts his mind to it. Marc Maron is not worth listening to when he talks like a stereotypical NYC self-loathing Jew especially about how much he hates getting older. Made Man is worth watching for its opening music score, ambiance, and guest line-up. Unfortunately, like so many of today's television shows who have converted to robot cameras, the director feels the need to constantly have the camera dollying left or right. It's so distraction-and by now, so cliche'--it's annoying.
Poor man's hank azaria.
