All of these worthless bar 'comedians' that went on the stern dhow back in the day really were bitter about everyone and everything, its so sad, theyre all living under a bridge somewhere now

Gallagher sounds like a bitter prop comic, that saw others pass him on the comedy ladder. Leno had a litany of jokes in his early years, and was a terrific stand up comedian. You could tell from his first few TV appearances, that Letterman, would end up in a host’s chair at some point. Seinfeld has the greatest sitcom of all time, part of wonderful ensemble. Smashing watermelons, is tremendously high brow though 🤦🏻‍♂️

It's interesting because Seinfeld's also a bitter stand-up comic because his stand-up was...let's face it...fine. It was light entertainment, but there are a lot of comics, including clean ones, who blow him away. He caught lightning in a bottle with a great writing partner and an S-tier cast, but his first stand-up special after the show ended ("I'm Telling You For the Last Time") was met with a resounding meh...as have all of his other specials. He's fine. I'd pay $15-35 to see his set, but the only people who would pay $100+ are people who will tell anyone who'll listen that they saw Seinfeld for $100+.

@@davidhill2020 : Whether or not you think his stand up is top notch (even I’m not crazy about it), he had maybe the best sitcom ever. He still fills arenas for his stand up, and has another successful movie out now. How exactly is he sounding bitter?

@@johncurtis7186I agree, Seinfeld is not bitter. No where does he sound bitter either. Gallagher comes off sounding like one of the most bitter people I’ve ever seen/heard. He disappeared in the 90’s cuz he couldn’t keep up with the times. No one wanted to see some balding asshole smash watermelons anymore! So glad he became obscure cuz he deserves it!!!!

He's right about the Late shows and the hosts. All boring and safe, no risks or real rewards. Leno was awful.

This is long just fyi. If he was right, they wouldn’t have lasted for so long. Those late night shows were made that way so that the avg Joe/jane American can sit in front of their tv after a long day and forget about their problems for 2 hrs. It was wholesome entertainment and it has prospered for more than 40 yrs. Leno did the Tonight Show for 21 yrs!!! You don’t get to do a show for so long cuz ppl aren’t watching. You want edgy? You want risky, blue comedy then go to the comedy store. Go see Leary or Ross or Attell,Maybe Sarah Silverman or Lisa Lampanelli etc. Edgy, blue comedy is not what Late Night talk shows were about. If you notice, everyone he talks shit about has something in common, they’re all successful! Leno, Letterman, Kimmel, Conan, Seinfeld, Carrey! Every one of those guys whether you’re a fan of theirs or not, has made it in the business! Gallagher acts like he’s the arbitrator of comedy just cuz he came up with all these guys. He was popular in the 80’s for what? Smashing a stupid watermelon on stage….ohhhhh how creative! And when the 90’s came, comedy really started to change and no one wanted to see his dumb act anymore. Don’t you find it interesting how he totally disappeared once the 90’s began. The reason why he disappeared was because he couldn’t do anything other than smash a fuckin watermelon! Where were his sold out shows in the 90’s and 2000’s??? Oh yea there weren’t any!!! Cuz he himself fuckin sucks big fat hairy donkey balls! He himself was lame! He was lamer than Larry the Cable Guy. And for him to come on here and say so n so is terrible and this guy is awful blah blah blah and rip on guys who are actually successful is absolutely absurd! He’s a bitter bitter lame ass dude who couldn’t hack it in the business and now feels he has to shit on every one who is successful. At first I was pissed that Howard had him on but then I thought, actually it’s good that he did have him on so that everyone can hear what a total zero he is! Can’t stand washed up acts like him who think they know how comedy should work! I’m glad he’s become obscure! He deserves it!!!
