As a Dairy Queen employee this is accurate, except we wait for the cream in the bladder to freeze in the machine. Instead of making all that waste. That's at least $20 worth of ice cream that was trashed. We wait for it to freeze and waste less than a small size cup of it.

Soft serve-

I used to work at Dairy Queen. Yes, there is alot of Blizzards and sundaes to learn but I didn't find it that hard to learn. Plus, we always had a guide to follow of all the Blizzards that we had. I had fun when I worked there.

Ayeee I work at DQ too, have been for a few months now tho only lol it took me a couple weeks to get adjusted to working there and knowing how things work, but took me a month to learn all the recipes (and now we have 4 new ones for the summer and new month - Cotton Candy, Caramel Fudge Cheesecake, Thin Mint and Oreo Dirt Pie) and get good at making sundaes and stuff like that. The item you made is an Oreo Brownie Cupfection and I actually really enjoy making them cause they’re a lot less messy than blending blizzards lol

I find it so amusing how you just go around working wherever and don’t have a set job place but get paid! Crazy the things you can do with social media. It really is amazing. DQ content is great though, even though I do miss "chop chop, fold fold" and the cold stone.

I work at Dairy Queen and there is a lot in the ice cream department to learn but for your first time working there it looked pretty good!

I used to work at Dairy Queen. It was a great place. Our manager said we could eat whatever we wanted. It was a great thing I was pregnant at the time and ice cream was so calming to my stomach.

@@MLGJMoney That might make sense if there was a cup in the vanilla drawer and if the cup and the hose weren't on opposite sides of the drawer

Honestly we don’t even run the old stuff out once we change the bladders at my store, we kinda wait till the air in the tubes causes the ice cream to explode out to know if we need to change it and at that point we just put the bladder in turn it off then on, hit the freeze button and let it go for like 30 seconds before using it again. We’re the most efficient dq in the area with maximum wait times of 4 minutes on ice cream orders so I’d say this method is good.

I left my job at Dairy Queen a couple of weeks ago and this is making me miss it- But if it wasn't behind the scenes, you're so lucky that it wasn't a mess switching the ice cream. 😭😭 It was always a challenge for us, especially because we had to do it while we had orders to make (my DQ was always busy), and switching the bladders would make SUCH A MESS. 😬😬

I live in a country where hard serve is the standard (sooo many Italian ice cream shops) but when in a country with a dairy queen I like myself some soft serve instead.

I work at Dairy Queen I have been there since September. It's the best job I've ever had I used to work at Costco is a sample guy for over 3 years. Then I worked at McDonald's I quit 4 months before my 3 year mark there. Now I work at Dairy Queen since September and it's awesome. They give me more to do there than they did over at McDonald's. At McDonald's I was a custodian never got promoted. Now over a Dairy Queen I toast Burger buns, toast bread for chicken baskets, make bacon, drop Burger patties, Make Ranch Sometimes make pretzel sticks also. The pay is actually pretty decent it was $15.50 an hour Now it's $15.74 an hour. Work 3 days a week 4 hours and 45 minutes on Monday Wednesday and on Sunday 6 hours.

Dylan, you should collect a spade from every shop you go to throughout your journey of ice cream making, and like write where it’s from in each one

inside the ice cream machine where the bladders go, on the door there are some little hook looking things.. that's where you can put the end of the tube while you change the bladder so the cream doesn't go everywhere. it keeps the tube upright

same here. at the dq i work at the caps on the bags are so impossible to remove, they always make my fingers hurt, i also will try and shove the tube in and it doesn’t go it all the way sometimes, i’ve pulled the metal piece at the end of the tube off and almost thrown it away, and i’ve spilled almost half a bag of ice cream. shits so annoying lol

Our ice cream machine doesn’t have the guard on the shelf where the ice cream bladders go. We kept the bladders in tubs with ice over them. And we only serve vanilla.

In Argentina the soft-served comes in 3 flavours, vanilla, chocolate and dulce de leche, even McDonalds and BurgerKings have dulce de leche icecream so that's interesting

The machine takes FOREVER to freeze. Not fun when you have to change the bladder in the middle of a rush.

But his comment was right. Usually the food industry wastes SO much more than this. This is only one facet of the food industry. I guess cold stone would waste less since they do make all their own stuff, like cones, and probably dont waste as much as dq. But even then, ice cream places waste wayyyy less than the rest of the food industry.

I worked at DQ as a teenager. It took me a few weeks to learn everything and then it was no time making it. There are a lot of new things now though
