You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. Ignore the hate or negativity. Of course anything that can’t be disinfected is trash, but some folks will never agree. I’m glad you’re checking in everything for money, paperwork, or anything else important. When/if you do find paper money, take it directly to your bank and warn them it’s probably contaminated. You’ll get the cash for it and they will take care of proper disposal. I just found a video of yours today and watched three of your videos. I’m looking forward to seeing your progress! Hoarding is more common than people think. I’ve done multiple cleanups and dealt with other situations that were borderline. I work with the grieving, the dying, and their families. Dealing with people’s things is something we make harder than it has to be. I’m happy that you’re honoring your grandmother, taking time for emotional moments AND having a pragmatic approach to dealing with it all. Sending you big love and radical grace as you grow through this difficult process.

😢 very sad for you to have to do this. I'm emotional watching it for you, this must be a terribly daunting and difficult task for you. Understandable about having to throw most of it away but at end of day, it's just stuff. Anything sentimental you can salvage will be nice for you, but the memories of times with her is what's really important. I had to deal with letting go of my Mom's things, not hoarding but still difficult to do. My sympathies 🙏

Check inside furniture too for money, they put it in there too. I went through this with my parents. It took my brother four years to clean the outside of the house cause my father was a mechanic, and it took almost a year to do the house. Good luck you are a good relative to her and a wonderful granddaughter.

the music was so poignant in the sense we keep so many things that could have gone for someone's good and instead they go to the landfill and can't be saved😢. you see someone's entire life go in the dumpster. i don't mean your grandma per se but it just reminds me of my sister that died 2 years ago at 65. no one had the time to keep traveling to her place to sort through her stuff and she had done nothing to organize it. it mostly went into a huge dumpster because everything had to be out in a limited time. i'm so glad you are reminding us of our mortality so we can plan ahead. thank you!!!

It is a weird feeling for sure. Someone’s entire life having to be sorted through. Doing this has made me start decluttering my own house as well. I’m sorry about your sister, but I’m happy you enjoy my videos!

That’s a lot of family! To the rest of you out there: schedule family workdays at least spring and fall and don’t let them live like this, what a health hazard!😵‍💫😬😖😳😟

We didn’t “let her live like this.” The family had pitched in multiple times and cleaned the house. And it would end up the same way, which is why she was moved into the tiny home on the property. Hoarding is a mental illness and they can’t help themselves. When someone is an adult, you can’t make them do anything. Please educate yourself. When someone doesn’t want you to throw away their things, you can’t make them.

@@brandyhagewoodmy sister is 60 and a working full time nurse, that just happens to be a hoarder and tv/ amazon shopper. Her son is moving back home from out of state and I have been going home when I can to help her declutter, clean and organize her house. She also has a ex partner whom she’s evicting, that happened to be a junk hoarder. She is struggling, but learning to let go of things. We put items outside every day for free and a lot has been taken, has scheduled her second donation truck pickup and we have made several donation drop offs. It’s a long slow process, but she is seeing the wonderful results and I keep telling her how proud I am of her. She has also recognized that she needs to stop shopping because she has everything she needs and then some. You’re doing a great job!
