Thank you so much Em for making this video. I have my surgery consult in about a month and it was so helpful to hear about your experience. I’m nervous for mine also, but with all of the amazing resources and support people like yourself and the rest of the endo/adeno community are offering, I feel more prepared 🌸🥰 I hope you have a smooth experience with the rest of the surgery journey ❤️

Oh man, my surgery consult went so similarly. She did at least warn me that she was going to do a pelvic exam, but because she needed to be more thorough, it was very painful. We also discussed options for my Adenomyosis, which included hysterectomy. Despite being aware that all this was going to happen ahead of time, I still sobbed when I got to my car. I was so overwhelmed. Having my pain be validated, hearing a doctor tell me I had a disease I had been gaslit about for decades, realizing I was probably going to lose my uterus, and that I was headed for surgery... It was too much. Thank goodness for my therapist! I couldn't have done this without her. Talking about it helps so much.

I'm sorry to hear that your exam was painful. I was definitely in the same boat following my exam - felt a lot of different emotions and feelings after the exam before driving home. Thank you for sharing your story and your experience during a surgery consultation. It can be a daunting experience but it makes it a little more manageable for others to know that they aren't alone in the process. It's not an easy thing to go through at times, but I so appreciate you sharing!

I've been having pain for so many years, its so draining. On the 6th of this month i will have my 3rd internal ultrasound & she will talk to me about options for endo, she is 100% sure I have endometriosis because how big my chocolate cyst is but the only way to really confirm it is thru lap surgery I'm afraid she's not gonna wanna do the surgery because she keeps pressuring me to get on birth control and that's not what I want, there is so many woman that have been on hormones for years and it doesn't do anything for endometriosis, i feel like they just get lazy and dont wanna help us women. Thats what being a obgyn is for is to help us not pure pressure us into birth control especially when we dont want it. I just hope this appointment goes good and I can actually get the surgery because who knows if I have it or not and this surgery will be able to put me at peace, I'm tired of going to the doctor for stomach pain, I need to know what's really going on.
