I remember working at doggie daycare 14 years ago, the start pay back then was $7.50 I work there for about 2 years then left and went vet hospital. I went from $7.50 to $15 then after that. Getting more years of experience I went somewhere else I'm finally at $20 an hour. at my current job. I love my fur babies.

I just joined a dog daycare last week, at the end of the interview she told me I got the job. I was glad because I just moved out here. I didn’t know they were understaffed and the whole business is desperate for money. My biggest issue I have isn’t how people treat the dogs, all my coworkers are excellent with that. My issue is the business is so desperate for money they’ll let ANY dog in. It’s me (had been working for one week) with 35 dogs. The max we’re supposed to have is 25 but we always go past that. That’s one. Two is the dogs at my place aren’t required to be spayed or neutered causing them to be more aggressive than usual and constantly mount each other. We can’t let them mount each other or fight and constantly have to clean pee and poop and mop under crates. They expect me to watch 35 dogs without having them fight, mount, and keep the place clean while level headed. I almost cry everyday but I need the money and love working with dogs. Honestly if they just made it a requirement to have people get their dogs spayed/neutered it would be 100% easier. They also allow any aggressive dog to join which makes me so anxious. It’s at least 2 fights everyday and I have to stop multiple from forming. Just those flaws in the system makes my job 1000x harder. Of course the barking is bad my ear drum blows out sometimes which is annoying but I’m starting to get used to it..because it is literally all day not a second goes by when they don’t bark, we’re not allowed to sit or crouch we have to stand all day which also is annoying

that really sucks that the daycare isn’t giving you better working conditions. i’ve definitely worked at daycares that care about profit more that the dogs, the staff, and safety and believe me i feel the pain and frustration. i hope things get better and if you want you can always look for another daycare to work at. it took me a few tries but i finally found a great daycare that’s well organized with the best dogs and pretty friendly staff. working with animals is such a gift and i hope that your daycare experience gets better

hi thanks for ur sweet comment and my day to day responsibilities were usually watching over the dogs while they were inside and out in the yard making sure they were playing safely, i would feed them and give dogs medicine, walk dogs and drop them off at home (the daycare was in an apartment complex) and i would do baths too. I would also be responsible for setting appointments on the computer and doing customer payments plus cleaning up at closing. i hope i was helpful and that u open ur daycare it’s honestly a great business to be apart of :)

I used to work at a inside huge doggy day care beautiful place new business and literally no one had a problem with what I did not even the owner but for some reason one day there was a dog that got dropped off and was nervous of her first day and sat next to me and trusted me I put her on a slip leash and walked her around the indoor park where the other dogs were only allowing 2-3 dogs to smell at a time for about 20-30 minutes and after I took off the slip leash she went to her very first buddy and played all day and I remember getting into trouble by the manger at the time that I shouldn’t have pet the dogs so much even though they were doing so good . Like how do you get in trouble for petting dogs to much and interacting with them I was so mad I couldn’t even deal with that manger anymore but because two other people were leaving for other opportunities they had to sell the place to a new owner and they were amazing and really made the place better which I thought it was already so amazing except for one thing, they kept the manger so I quit

tbh they scare me too but if you trust the dogs that come to your daycare (as in they’re not people aggressive) they should listen to you and know not to attack you so make sure to correct them but also dogs can be unpredictable so always make sure you keep your face a safe distance from them. if you ever don’t feel comfortable looking after certain dogs let your bosses know too.

working w animals is great + really fun. i’ve always loved it just make sure to be aware of red flags when it comes to the owners of daycares/ the people u work with. I’ve seen daycare owners mistreat dogs and not know the right way to take care of them + that’s definitely not a place anyone would want to work in. overall tho the experience is great just make sure u feel comfortable in the place u work in :) u can always get a ride to work if the place is to far also (idk if that answered ur question right but i hope i did)

Hi! I’m 17 and have worked at two doggy daycares. I’m on my third right now, starting as a manager on Monday. Working with dogs is NOT fun so if you think it’s gonna be fun, it’s not 😭. You’ll have lots of bruises, cuts, and headaches. Her video seemed calm, and her workplace may be, but that’s not how 99% of doggy daycares are, it’s hectic and if you don’t have a high pain or noise tolerance I don’t recommend.
