Second-hand bookshops are a treasure trove, whether charity or privately owned. In Voltaire & Rousseau in my native Glasgow, I found stories by A.E. Coppard with a letter inside written by the author, not long before he died. In the Oxfam bookstore in Cheltenham where my sister lives, I found Prose and Poetry by Alice Meynell, circa 1947. I have another sister who lives in Putney, but my visit last year somehow missed out on London's great antiquarian bookshops. Hope you keep making videos !

I love the Oxfam ones ! I have one close by that has some amazing editions. I do most of my shopping in charity shops these days as it doesn’t feel like im being forced to buy something.

@@naomicrochetcrafts Charity shops are great. Today in Marie Curie I got The Tiger's Daughter by Bharati Mukherjee, Ghost Story by Toby Litt and Anna Politkovskaya's book on the war in Chechnya about which I know little though I have many books on the Middle East, Iraq, Libya & Afghanistan. If you are ever in Cheltenham go to the used bookstore in Henrietta Street, the quiet end of town, not too far from the tree-lined Promenade. The friendly man who owns it told me that his rent was being doubled, and that he may have to move to a smaller shop. Hope he is still in business when I go there this summer. There is a beautiful Oxfam Books in Cirencester and a lovely used bookstore in Stow-in-the-Wold and another good one in Gloucester.
