As a metal fan, I can apperciate talent when I hear it. I had always known that he wrote the Battle of New Orleans but never heard his vocals until recently. Wow, what emotion and passion. His version of the Battle of New Orleans is better than Hortons. I have searched for his recordnings lately and I can't find any. I wish I had known of his talent before I tossed away about 4 chests of albums from my parents. I saved the known ones, Elvis, Cash, Snow, Sons of the Pioneers, Pride, Lynn, and many oters that I remembered but I'm sure I tossed originals of this genius. Thank you Jimmy for great music.

Come on Lee, yeah yeah yeah, come on Lee The best darn dog that ever did bark up a sycamore tree. Well I had a good dog, and his name was Lee. He's the best darn hound dog that you ever did see. He loved his master, and he loved his home, but ol Lee took up with the wild wild wolves and began to roam. Well he'd treat me a possum, and he treat me a coon. And he catched me a wild boar, in the light of the moon. He'd treat me a panther, and he'd treat me a bear and right or wrong when a fight was on old Lee was there. Oh come on Lee, yeah yeah yeah, come on Lee The best darn dog that ever did bark up a sycamore tree. Well he as doing alright, he didn't hanker or prowl. Till one dark night he heard a bitch wolf howl, She howled so lonesome, she howled so sweet. Old Lee got up and walked right off and left a ham o meat. Well I could not sleep one wink that night, on the mountain side there was an awful fight. At the break of day up the hill I sped, I found ten big wolves on the mountain top and they all were dead. Come on Lee, yeah yeah yeah, come on Lee The best darn dog that ever did bark up a sycamore tree. (do it again) Come on Lee, yeah yeah yeah, come on Lee The best darn dog that ever did bark up a sycamore tree. What is that walkin', by old Lee's side? He's been to the wild wolves', and he's won him a bride. Why is he digging, in the sand below? He's diggin' a hole so his wife and kids can have em a home. Old Lee came home, he'd been bit by a snake, I gave him some fat meat and I baked him a cake. He ate the fat meat and looked up with a grin, then he picked up the cake and he carried it away to the wild wolves' den. Come on Lee, yeah yeah yeah, Come on Lee The best darn dog that ever did bark up a sycamore tree. One day I was hunting on the mountainside. I found a dead wolf, it was old Lee's bride. Then I saw him a walkin' through the big bull jacks, and ten little pups were trying to step in their daddy's tracks He'd brought them home, and I guess you'd know. I fed em on hound meat, and I fed em on doe. Their father taught them how to make the kills, that's how we got our big bear dogs in the Ozark Hills Come on Lee, yeah yeah yeah, Come on Lee The best darn dog that ever did bark up a sycamore tree. Come on Lee, yeah yeah yeah, Come on Lee The best darn dog that ever did bark up a sycamore tree.
