Jane giving a 7 was a calculated PR move, she knew how low the others would score based on the uncomfortable atmosphere. She was making herself look good.
Came from the Off Menu episode you were on. This is even better than I imagined.

The fact that Jane gives him a 7 - that it's not even her that kills him - that's the deepest moment of this whole thing. In his obsession with beating Jane, he's completely forgotten how the game even works, openly dismissing the other two, and it is that disregard which winds up being his undoing. Brilliant.

The psychology at play here is fascinating

This is a complete masterpiece! I must have watched this over 20 mines. The in-depth analysis and dissection of the characters involved is sublime. Bravo, Chabz.

Hello from Off menu!
This commentary made me laugh so much and agree with every word. Let's not forget though that Jane scored Peter the highest with a 7 and that Peter said in his kitchen "The party's not over until the fat lady sings so until we get a good tune out of Jane the party's not over".

You should absolutely write a book about this episode, there is just so much life lessons and faux pas to get from this episode. It is the ultimate "alpha vs. insecure wanna-be alpha" battle, and there is just so much to learn from the way Jane phrases stuff vs how Peter phrases stuff, it is insane.

And you would say Peter is the insecure wanna-be alpha ?
It actually angered me how Peter was called out by viewers and papers for calling Jane fat, when she started with the fat jokes day 1... just seemed people were blinded at how in the wrong she was, she was like Kevin Spacey in Usual Suspects in this episode.
Peter became obsessed with the competition and Jane. He forgot it was a competition of Dinner Parties where pleasing the guests was paramount. It's so funny that Jane and Peter mutually scored each other quite high lol
I am so moved by the eternal struggle of Peter & Jane 😂😂
Never has a reaction brought me more joy. Please do more
Real recognizes real, and Jane looks familiar.

spot on analysis 👌he was too much about the food and ignored that dinner parties need a good vibe. He should've tried more to not bite back and entertain everyone by making them wear and enjoy his various powerful shirts
Asim living legend great video. Bring on Amsterdam 2021 literally counting down the days . 🍾
The fact you have a painting of him behind you has me ROLLING!!!
There is a touch of Brent in Peter his face at the end is like the comic relief episode 😂👍
This is a hilariously incredible breakdown
I’ve come back to this more than I’d like to admit looool
Has anyone seen "People just do nothing"? You are the image of Chabuddy G! It's uncanny. Edit: 😅Now I feel stupid, I checked out your other vids, haha. In my defence this is the first time I came across your channel.
Feel like you brushed over Jane's attack on Peter's night. The bit about him being posh and liking fancy things etc was really nasty and loaded with spite :)) excellent breakdown. Love you Asim!

But peter does like fancy things...... he said ‘tonight’s about sophistication’.... at 13:23 you can see him putting detail on those small hearts for the menu ..... the grinder ..... all the detail in his house ..... the Apple thing in his kitchen and how it’s layer out ..... and even the way he says ‘reversing dump truck without any tyres on’.... that’s a detailed description Anyway Jane is a detective and she describes people
DO THIS FOR THE JACKIE WEAVER VIDEO THAT IS WHAT WE ALL NEED!!!!
I'm here after watching a couple of episodes of People Just Do Nothing, which I find hilarious and I love your character, so HAD to KZread you! You are genius. It's refreshing to see Jane's behaviour observed for once. I worked with Pete when CDWM was filmed and he didn't want it aired knowing how he'd be portrayed after Jane's antics. He was devastated. Jane was constantly making digs at him throughout the show - and remember, you're only seeing the edited version. Pete finally lost it and many of us would have too. It was funny, but not funny. In my eyes, Jane's one of those passive aggressive bullies - the worst type. She appears, to me, to be openly mocking him in front of everyone, saying it with a smile so that it comes across as funny. The press and social media went absolutely nuts and Pete was made out to be a terrible human being. Imagine what that does to someone. NOBODY talked about Jane's behaviour. I love Pete's humour and I hope this experience didn't put a dent in it. He was always kind and lovely to me and his food was amazing. Thanks for putting a fairer perspective out there, even though I know you're not taking sides!

YES YES ASIM lovin this nice one jane-o
Filmed in Hounslow-by-Sea
I think Peter went mad like Carrie at the prom in the film "Carrie." Ever seen it? She had been bullied too far, the bullies pushed too far at the prom, & she burnt it down. Peter behaved like that. I did feel sorry for him, for now it's on the internet forever.
I don’t see how Jane turned the other two against Peter. It was Peter who alienated them and made them feel uncomfortable.

I’ve watched the full episode and have arrived at the opinion that Jane is more at fault than Peter. Firstly, she was the initial “aggressor” by mocking him for his weight and calling him fatty, and that was on the first evening. He laughed it off and didn’t respond. Then she proceeds to make sly, but still socially acceptable, digs at him as the episode continues. He of course responds with his own rudeness but that is only a retaliatory measure. The yank student and the ditsy blonde - the minor characters - seem to unofficially side with Jane in their body language and who they choose to laugh with, as well as in their “commentary” segments throughout the episode. Jane was able to “get them on side” through implicit, subtle social manipulation, and the fact that Peter was a unique character who had interesting, controversial opinions (see his “everyone prostitutes themselves” comment, etc.), which made it easier for them to pick Jane. Once Jane attacks Peter’s character in his own home, he becomes unstuck, and displays a complete disregard for social norms and propriety. In doing so, this is where he alienates the minor characters, admittedly. His brazen honesty with telling Jane that he was cooking almost exclusively to impress her was, in my view, an indirect surrender and cry for help. He feels he is on the ropes and tries to appeal to Jane’s emotion by showing her he felt hurt, and says what would usually otherwise be unstated. His attack on the ditsy blonde at the very end is a sign of a man who has been broken, and losing is just the nail in the coffin. Jane’s attacks on Peter were masterfully woven into a socially acceptable manner, which allowed her to seem like she was in the right.
