My late mum, who passed away at the end of November, came from Cavan and knew Ballyjamesduffm used to sing this in the last years of her life. I can't listen to it without thinking of her.

I used to love hearing Brendan O'Dowda singing especially Percy Frenchs songs

When I hear this song, I just want to cry.

For years I thought that Paddy Reilly was a fictional character and it is lovely to know that he has descendants So you must know where he went after he left Ballyjamesduff . My deceased father John Francis O'Reilly was born in 1914 at Farragh just outside Ballyjamesduff I still have a cousin living there Slainte

Not only because my ancestors came across the Mull to Scotland from Ireland do I love these songs,though they surely are of my ain folk. A jarvey drives a pony & trap for taking passengers , before the days of the motor car . I remember them in Cavan in 1950s .

Ha, ha, ha, listening on his iPod I suppose, oh no it must have been a Sony Walkman but really I can't imagine Blair chasing a German soldier rifle in one hand and a portable wind-up gramophone player with a large horn in the other hand, but there again nothing is impossible is it!!!
