A very good episode actually. But " Combat," beginning to show the strain of its longevity. But it will always be the classic war series. Unbeatable.

The plot in The Convict was excellent. Some of the best writers in television wrote the series episodes for my favorite, all-time war classic, Combat! Simply superb!

Luis Antonio Dámaso de Alonso (December 11, 1905 - May 15, 1994), known professionally as Gilbert Roland, was a Mexican-born American film and television actor whose career spanned seven decades from the 1920s until the 1980s. Roland was born in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, and originally intended to become a bullfighter like his father and his paternal grandfather. When Pancho Villa took control of their town, Roland and his family fled to the United States. He lived in Texas until at age 14 he hopped on a freight train and went to Hollywood. After arriving there, he found menial jobs and slept in a Catholic church. He often lost those jobs because he spent time working as an extra in films. He chose his screen name by combining the names of his favorite actors, John Gilbert and Ruth Roland. He was often cast in the stereotypical Latin lover role.

Actually in real life that would have been easy the German's backs were to the machine gun and their concealment was in front of them so they would have been fairly easy targets. My cousin I joined up with had a similar incident between NVA and our troops when a ZPU quad opened up on his unit instead of aircraft because they were caught by surprise by the patrol. Two US soldiers flanked the ZPU and killed the gunner. Then used the weapon against the NVA. When we met in Japan he and I had a good laugh over the incident because we had both seen it on COMBAT! while in high school

@@TheEvilDrR reread it my friend (although wiki isn't my choice for facts as it is written by us) the definition of a pistol is a single shot handgun (think pirate) or a single shot fed by a magazine. A pistol is a handgun and a revolver (definition obvious) is a handgun but a pistol isn't a revolver.

Yes, I was relieved when LeMay finally said he was running out of ammo. And of course, they're all like jerking their weapons when they pull the trigger as some hollywood fellows who are unfamiliar with shooting have been known to do. What was with that BAR man? And then there's that little issue that you can really tell it's California in this one. Or Australia. I have to laugh seeing the eucalyptus because the only eucalyptus seen in WWII was in the PTO. Unless they had plantations in Italy somewhere. Still and all though, this is one of the best episodes I've seen for excitement and action.

*War, real war is Hell, as I have heard it reported by the men and woman, that have endured the raging heat of hell's flaming bullets, with it's bombs of mass annihilation, the deafening sounds of man's genus in the chemical underworld, and fear that is so real that it is almost a living entity, and the stench of decaying flesh, that was once a person, but is no more to be counted among the living.* *This show is entertainment.* *I have more to say about real war, but I don't think many of you could bear it, or would give a rat's arse, if you could bear it.* *You just want to be En-ter-TRAIN-ed.( :)*

What a stupid crack about trump......I was a lifetime Demo Nut, until I started doing Political research. I am 62 and have found out astounding things. The Military has known for decades that our government is so corrupt, but they have held off doing anything about it. They knew Trump wasn't part of the New world order and eventually hold off socialism. Trump has been ready to run for the last 30 years, but finally the Military asked him to run to save us from the New World Order and Socialism, that would turn into Communism. When all but Fox new goes after Trump, you know something drastically is wrong. Trump is trying to Eliminate the cabal that rules the world . How ever it will take More than Trump to do it. It wil take we the people to getour country back that we lost to the Rothschilds more than 200 years ago..... Google the [ The House Of Rothschilds ] If you don't believe me. Trump must eliminate the Federal Reserve bank in which there are shareholder's like the Rothschild's, Rockefeller's etc....We pay them interest for our own money. Congress should be printing our money not the Fed reserve which is about as federal as Federal Express! I really feel sorry for all the Trump hater's. Sure he is a ego maniac, and has many social problems. But he is a genius, just give him more time and give him a republican congress back. Everythig you hear on tv is controlled by the CIA and has been since TV was created basically from 47 onwards. You dont keep in line 300 million americans by tellng the people the truth all the time. Tv tells us what they want us to know and then keeps drilling it in our heads, until we believe their lies. Back to combat I loved this show since I was 6 yeras old in 62. It stands the test of time. I wish they had spent a little more money on realism though, but over all the greatest war series /movies ever created. Vic was it ! Kirby outlasted them all, kinda funny how he allway's thought in the series he was going to die young. Now he will be 90 years old, and probably still griping about something in life !! LOL

Too many episodes are not about soldiers of the US Army in combat, but rather manufactured, unbelievable tales of espionage, secret missions and intelligence gathering that US Army soldiers never undertook in WW2. Gilbert Roland was never my 'cup of tea', either.
