If we are going by their lore that is a good thing, They killed off a Xeno race that developed weapons that can permanently kill Chaos and then destroyed all the weapons. They help spread chaos non stop and saved Slaanesh. Deathwatch needs to be purged for being full retards 24/7.

I wouldn't read too much into Index Cards as an indicator. Those are one shot items, with one print run generally. The assassins and inquisitors vanishing are more of a soft confirmation.

@@user-vb9rt9rm3p It’s because when/if index and data cards sell out they aren’t print again and will be taken down. It’s rare but it’s not as big of a tell as model kits being removed. Space Marine data cards sold out and were removed a while back, but Space Marines haven’t been removed from the game obviously 😅

I don’t think Grey Knights will be roped into the Agents, they’ve got their own army rule, enough unique units and too big of a range to put into a smaller codex

I have about 1,500pts of Firstborn Deathwatch and have never been tempted to expand with Primaris. What drew me to Deathwatch was how every squad member could be a uniquely kitted out storied individual rather than faceless line infantry. From a lore perspective they make more sense as Kill Team or Combat Patrol size forces (plus a Blackstar!). From a rules perspective, their uniqueness was at odds with GWs direction of travel (fewer weapon profiles per data sheet to speed up play). I’d be all for DW being integrated into a more fully realised agents of the imperium codex (maybe a place for the Tempestus Scions to get some spotlight time too)

I took my DW army out recently for a 2k point game and honestly hated it. So many different rolls to make per unit. That being said, it's fun at 1k :D

@@txtos7127 Yeah - I think GW's trend towards simplifying the number of weapons profiles in a squad was the right one as it slowed down larger games. One or two really mixed weapon DW squads in a bigger Imperial Agents force would be manageable and cool though! The other thing that hit DW hard was the simplified points scheme. I liked having a few squads of cheaper veterans but now you are incentivised to max out the weirdness.

Reminds me how the Overlord with Voidscythe vanished without a word right before the Overlord with the teleport thingy came out. It wasn't even that old of a model!!

I'd feel sorry for any non-Inquisitor troops that take to the field alongside them though.... 100% casualty rate....

I wonder if they’ll just put all four assassins in one box. I know they probably get more money by selling them piecemeal, but the only two I commonly see are the Callidus and the Vindicare. They might ultimately make more money selling the four of them together, since this way, they wouldn’t have a mountain of unwanted assassins clogging up their warehouse.

The main thing that is going to suck about this codex is all the armies like Custodes, Knights etc. that use agents in their lists regularly are going to have to buy a whole codex to get the rules in the app.

I seen to be of the rare opinion around here that this is actually good for DW. I think this way, they will have more available to them. I could see their place in the codex being one of elite heavy hitters and armored support . This should give them more synergy options

in my opinion it would be cool as long as we can have atleast half of our army as actual dw killteams plus characters, even better if it could be more though... my curent army has 1375 points of killteams+characters. bonus points if they adjust the statlines to reflect the elite nature of the deathwatch, that could include something like 3 wounds, 2+ save or a 5+ invul, or more xenos gear like eldar rifles or the tyrranid blade from the 9th edition codex. and revert the point system for killteams back to how it was in 9th edition

Man if that techpriest was in plastic it would have been an instabuy for me.

Man, i really hope they put Greyfax back, her model is probably my favorite conversion base for female leaders. Those stiletto heels are fire.

God I hope they don't totally fuck this up, my marines are fully painted as deathwatch and I just finally finished my 2k list

Getting rid of Deathwatch as a faction and folding them into the main Inquisition codex is such a great idea, I might actually start collecting them after this.

I’ve heard some people talking about it on the T’au subreddit but nowhere else. The standard tigershark has also been removed from the GW webstore. The AX-1-0 variant (the titan hunter one) is still there but the standard version is just gone!

Ynnari should go. Harlies shouldn't have. That was a shame. I'd have liked harlies to get a couple more sheets and corsairs to be usable by drukhari (wasted money on that frigging KT just for them to go corsairs can't get in raiders cause we're retarded) and get our finescast shit updated. I'd be very happy if all that happened was our old ahit was updated. And available. Maybe throw us another character since this is herohammer and we have 3 one for each subtraction......def could used 3 more at least....

​@@teejay1646because ynnarri don't require their own range of minis and can use existing ones, they have only 3 character models (which even previously were sold together). Also they took a large role in modern 40k narrative with Guilliman resurrection Exodites would need an absolutely new range of minis, they cannot use anything from other eldar armies

Damn. Between the Mechanicum and the Necromunda stuff, GW will end up owning my kidneys...

My guess is the secret Codex from the timeline will be Imperial Agents as a proper faction, with Deathwatch rolled into it. Maybe they'll go even further and make it an Inqusition faction and roll in the Grey Knights too, but that seems like a step too far perhaps.

Plus their range of datasheets isn't that much larger than that of the Deathwatch either, just more distinct and not propped up by Codex Space Marines. All that said, unlike Grey Knights, I never really understood why Deathwatch ever got their own Codex to begin with.

From what I've heard, the reason Horus Heresy models don't get 40k support is because GWs teams are very competitive. The sales of your department (40k, old world, boxed games, AOS, HH) matter more than sales for GW in general. So the 40k team really DOESN'T want rules for Horus Heresy models because then money is going to the Horus Heresy teams numbers instead of the 40k numbers, and vice versa. Horus Heresy doesn't want the standard leman russ, they want you buying the new Solar Aux one because that sales is tracked as a sale for Horus Heresy. Boxed games (Kill Team and Warcry) probably have a different system to this but the big games are all fighting each other,

If that is indeed the case, and this is far from the first time I've heard it, then it's one of the most boneheaded pieces of business I've ever heard of. Anything that makes a product you're trying to sell more useful and valuable to a potential customer is a good thing, especially if it doesn't cost you much more to do it. This is pure speculation on my part, but I can totally see the new DW Combat Patrol going with 5 Terminators, 5 Intercessors, 3 Outriders, 1 LT and 2-3 DW upgrade sprues.

I'd like a box with 5 assault and 5 normal primaris marines. Then have a sprue with cool shields and heavy weapons and interesting multi ammo inserts into the bolter. Then only have primaris units. But you can easily use firstborn as proxys.

The Rumor engine pic looks like the tail of one of the dinosaur mounts that the exodites ride, or possible cold ones from the Fantasy Dark Elves.

Imo this is how it will work. The Agents of the Imperium codex will get a core base of units for the army (Inquisition retinue, agents, assassins, stormtroopers etc) and it will have 4 detachments - Xenos, Malleus, Hereticus & Minoris. Each detachment allows you to select 50% of the units from the Agents codex and then 50% from certain units in Codex Space Marines (representing Deathwatch), Grey Knights, Sororitas and Astra Militarum depending on the detachment you pick. The army rules in each detachment will be different to what is part of the regular codex (e.g Sisters won't get miracle dice). I do think the stand alone Deathwatch codex is going to be a casualty of this but there may well be the rules for the 4 existing Primaris Kill Teams in the Xenos detachment.

If deathwatch are being rolled into the Ordo Xenos then the Grey Knights should be rolled into the Ordo Malius

It'd be kinda interesting if agents has a different detachment that allows for the use of the different arms of the inqusition. So one for the deathwatch. All rules in that detachment work for deathwatch units and allows for a large quantity of your army to be death watch. Then the same for a grey knights detachment, and a sisters detachment?

It's worth noting when I was there a few weeks back, none of the grey knights and inquisitors etc were present in the displays, which could be a huge coincidence

I personally would like to see Death Watch squads as something that can be allied to an Imperium army.

Collect DW, gets heavily nerfed, neglected, now removed. Collected GSC, similarly gets nerfed, made less horde like, then kinda brought back with a codex. Collect custodes… you see where this is going. Don’t worry guys eventually I’ll have every army and GW will have no other choice but to discontinue 40K entirely!!! It’s a plan generations in the making.

When Imperial Guard came out in 9th a bunch of their units got pulled with no warning so they could be repackaged to modern branding, probably the same thing here imo. Lots of stuff still using the old logo

I could see them repackaging the assassins to be sure to charge more for them in the new bigger box. I just don’t see the assassins really going away though

For Agents of the Imperium, something interesting could be a 'requisition specialists' rule where your 2,000pt army roster includes (for example) 1,500pts and 3 different 500pt blocks of Ordo-specific troops (e.g. Deathwatch, Grey Knights, Sisters of Battle, specific Inquisitors) that you choose between at the start of each battle once you know who you are facing. That way you don't get DW vs. Daemons or Grey Knights vs. Tau.

I was just on the Warhammer 40k app and looked at the imperial agents and it has a combat patrol now showing up so I think that does confirm it

My Company+ strength Deathwatch are watching very curiously. This is the army that had their seed sown with the original Kill Team rules from Chapter Approved, so I've plenty of skin in this game.

I've been collecting agents of the imperium kill team sets alongside assassins for Boarding Patrol games. Can't wait for them to become a full faction. If there's a detachment for each of the main Ordos plus a Rogue Trader themed detachment that will go down very well with me.

I've been bouncing around with the idea of having a Space Marine army and was thinking of picking up the Deathwatch and Blood Angel combat patrols from my LGS around Christmas when they have a pretty good sale to get a start, but if Deathwatch CP is going away I might have to make up my mind quickly

Honestly Deathwatch going into Agents just means they can be used with all other imperium armies. They would be similar to assassin's where they are kill teams to add to armies, and would allow agents to actually be played as a whole army...... maybe a good thing as a whole.

I'm not sure if it's related... Back in early May, I ordered a Callidus Assassin & a Repulsor from Element Games, only just got the order a few days ago, as the Assassin was on backorder and kept getting delayed..., it must have been delayed half a dozen times.

Honestly I am kind of glad for this change. With the new allied unit rules I don't see most of the agents units ever being played, which isn't great especially considering how cool a lot of them are. This will at least give those of us who do/want to own agent models to actually play them.

I'm playing an endless crusade campaign and would love it if Aeldari would get some unique requisitions and agendas. Our tyranid player and I (Necrons) get them, but our Aeldari player doesn't.

I don't care about the agents of the imperium... I want the road map update !

The old Night Lords upgrade sprue vanished a week before the Killteam was revealed, GW is definitely cooking.

It'll be hugely underwhelming in both rules and model releases. It'll most likely consist of a new monopose female Inquisitor, and all of the non primaris Marines just not showing back up for DW.

I'd like to see some new Assassins with the pet rock game dialled down a bit. The Vindicare in particular looks pretty daft on a lot of tables. Oh, and just to add that IMHO Coteaz is fine, I use him alongside my Sororitas and he's every bit as tall as the new Battle Sisters are, it's a great sculpt.

Observe, guard will be the last to get a codex :D

I don't need another 30k army but plastic Mechanicus will be have me ringing up that credit card again.

The amount of Malstrain stuff is getting surprising. At worst its effectively a new gang archetype for necromunda comparable to the house gangs and not something small like the squats that feel more like cameos and at best this looks like an entire sub faction for Genestealer Cult testing the waters in a specialist game which was how Deathwatch and GSC were tested back in 7th edition. So far we have mal strain equivalents or at least proxies for noephytes, genestealers, an abominant, a magus/biologis and a benefictus. We know theres a Mal Strain patriarch so that just leaves us with a primus, metamorphs and abberants and you have the core line outside the vehicles that can be easily kitbashed. I wont be shocked if we get a white dwarf article giving them specific detachment rules like the destroyer virus necron army from a year or two ago. As a GSC and Necromunda player this is super exciting and while i doubt its happening it would be nice if they use Necromundas growing popularity since its relaunch to bleed some of that back into 40k. The Imperial Fists and Sisters of Battle for example recruit from the world. Maybe an Escher sister model or something could be a cool one off like this genestealer admech?

If they make the killteam actually feel like a killteam of veterans rather than just another chapter of marines... well, inquisition rules is better than a 3rd(or 4th) edition of neglect.

Amazon in US has DWCP for $120 in my area at the moment… but as they’re DW, I’m pass.
