    I adored the part where Clarence caught Anton playing his plane's melody on the clarinet for his departure. Not sure if it was to cover up his plane's takeoff or as a nod and a final farewell, but it might have acted as both. Despite the short being... short, I grew invested in the story fast. Got misty eyed at the idea of where Clarence may go to across the sea, leaving a tight-knit community that congregates together to sing and work to industrialize. If they ever went back would they see a different world than where they departed from?

    I like how the Plane is one that plays a nice tune while awaken the yellow flowers for harvesting, but the newer tractors just making noises. while the tractor can make noise+ harvest on the go, the plane flyer need to fly around first, then hand pick all the flower. I do like how Anton can write an anthem and make them practice and have the play up in less than 48 hours, I do guess the Anthem is slightly inspired by the plane's flying tune tho. this is an amazing animation, plot, flow, animation and style wise.

    Oh god, I am in love with this world. So the flowers open up to music, but their version of "industrialization" is to simply blast discordant noise at it for the same effect. Such a good metaphor for destroying culture and tradition in pursuit of profits. And her friend adding in the solo of the melody her plane makes was so touching. I wish they'd explained why they need the places, I don't get why they need to dismantle them. Either way, I want more of this place, and these characters!

    @senniie3372

    23 күн бұрын

    @WobblesandBean they dismantled the planes for parts for the machines. People do this often in real life, where for example, they'll dismantle older/used cars for parts; it's not necessarily a negative thing. I think the reason why they needed the trumpets from the planes was because of a lack of trumpets or production of trumpets. Like how in WWII they had people donate metal and stockings (nylon) to the war effort because production outmatched supply. I really like your read of the film and I think it's probably what the creators were trying to express. To add on, I think the film could also be a metaphor for the industrialization of art in general (music, animation, painting, etc). Everything is about efficiency these days, even in art. I think we can see this a lot in the animation industry, especially in the west (especially in the USA), where production companies always try to find ways to cut corners to get more episodes out or more movies out. Like Marvel underpaying CGI effect artists and giving them crazy short deadlines. I think AI is the top tier example of making art over-efficient. It completely cuts out the artist's purpose and is made off of stealing art. It's product over process. I believe art is about the process and I think a lot of other artists agree. Efficiency and innovation are not bad and I would argue industrialization isn't bad either. Industrialization brought us better medicine and food production after all. Just industrialization and efficiency can come at the cost of meaningful connection to work and culture like you said. I love rewatching this short film. There's something new to discover with every rewatch. It also makes me think, as good art should haha. When I rewatched this film again, I had an "ah-hah" moment with the metaphor I discussed above. Also the animation is so good!!! The characters and props have so much volume and the environments are beautiful to look at. Every frame is computer background worthy. It's such a great film :,)

    I noticed that her friend always had the flowers near him when he was thinking of her, like to clarify that she was his inspiration. When he was doing the sheets and when he gave her the last hug, the flowers who get alive when music plays were there. idk exactly what it means, of course the flowers were in every part of the town but it made me feel that no only she was his inspiration for the greatest concert, but when she left the inspiration was gone too. He still can make good things but the feeling or the passion that she inspired in him was gone.

    The animation is so gorgeous! The shapes are beautifully consistent, the backgrounds are incredibly detailed and the tiny character movements make the whole thing feel so alive. I love how Antons pupils move at 2:05 and his frills at 3:07.

    This. is. awesome!!! I LOVE the animation style and the look of this world! It's enrapturing! Clarence's design is so cute and I looooove her plane is similar to a paper airplane! The world feels even more believable than most full-length movies these days; its full of such ATMOSPHERE! And I love that they don't over-rely on soundtracks in the beginning and let the natural sounds of the world tell the story! THIS IS SO GOOD!!!

    I wonder: do the musicians know that they are seeing off Clarence? The melodic theme of her plane should be known to everyone. Even the villagers might know what is going on once they recognize the Clarence's-plane-theme, wouldn't they? At 1:04 one of the members of the little orchestra in front of the concert master's house says something along the line "il y a Clarence!" (there is Clarence) - or something, unfortunately I don't speak French - and points with his bow. So they must have heard the theme and recognized it.

    All Gobelin's clips are great, but some kind of reach for any meaningful narrative or story. _This_ , on the other hand...I feel like I absorbed a feature length film in a matter of 5 minutes. Beautiful characters, beautiful design, beautiful script! This could be a full movie to itself, or even the start of a series of movies. Totally loved this! I want to know more about these lizards and the world they live in.

    What an amazing short film! Although, the concept has me thinking. If music directly causes the flowers to grow, then maybe different genres of music would yield different results. Perhaps Clarence will find a place for her machine where other music flourishes. Plus, that paper plane reminds me a lot of a pulse jet because of how far the sound is projected. The land of intense guitar riffs awaits!
