Pietta needs to reproduce those speedloaders for the 1858 it seems like it would make loading the gun so much faster.

I'm guessing the ball seater hooks in the wedge slot with the cylinder back on the frame?

How would you know that you put the right amount of powder into the chambers from the charger?

Guessing the length of the 5 spouts go in far enough so when you open and release it drops the right amount including what's left in the spouts.

Thank you for this much needed and informative video. Does anyone know if the reproduction 5 charger patterson flasks are 100% authentic in their construction and performance?

I have one of the flasks for my Uberti Texas Paterson, which is a copy of the No. 5 Belt Paterson. It has the spring-loaded measures like a Zouave flask but it doesn't have the ball magazine. It's usable but you must be careful ramming the balls after charging all the chambers. You must keep the gun level or you will spill powder.

I have a question for you guys, is there any real value to having matching serial numbers or is it just semantics?

Yes, sir. Original factory condition is extremely desirable with a great number of collectors. Having the matching extra cylinder means that this set has never been broken up, and keeps it one step closer to that factory original condition.

1800 HOTLINEMIAMI matching serial numbers always increases the value of a piece of machinery (car, gun, etc).

the question i have is. couldnt you just let the cylinder on the gun... and use the charger this way. thoe centre hole on the charger looks a bit like it would be a thing

Yes. It was intended for the cylinder to remain in place. The center hole is for the cylinder arbor.
