My hubby has a Ruger Single-Six he's had since early or mid 1960's. He swears by it in every way. Balance, accurate and still in pristine condition. He's 82 and can still drive nails with it.
What a beautiful cat! We had a Maine Coon mix who looked a lot like him. His heart gave out at 5 years old unfortunately, but he was the best cat ever. Also, I had a single 6 that I wish I never let go...

The more you are around firearms the more you appreciate Ruger. They make a rugged, American made gun and they always have run a great business. They are often the first one into a trend. They get ripped for sometimes being more brute then athlete but-just like in life-give me the guy that gets it done rather then the slick salesman. Good job Bill. We appreciate it.
I bought my Single Six in 1970. New in the box for $69. I still own it and other than some holster wear it is in pristine condition. This video brought back some memories for me. My cousin and I ran a trap line in those days and he carried the Colt Frontier and that Ruger Single Six rode with me. Fond memories. Thanks for taking me back there!
Ruger's Revolvers are such tanks I've got 2 and plan to get more! Just love that I can carry em, shoot em drop em scratch em up and they still shoot every time!!
I prefer the Ruger. Always been a revolver girl, myself. Cowgirl at heart.. 🥰

every vid you go with "small" bullets, even more when it's revolver/lever, the vid is always a smooth and nice history lesson, thanks hick.
There may have been a time I would’ve preferred the Colt but the Ruger Single Six is the best .22 revolver one can hope to own. I use mine nearly daily and enjoy it thoroughly.
Good to see slamfire again. I enjoy plinking with my Uberti 22 clone. Time always just seams to slow down when I shoot 22. Thank you Sir and John for all your hard work.

You have to slow down with a single 6. Shot placement is key
Sadly i lost my dad in December of 2020. But he left me a Ruger single 6 from 1969. What an amazing plinker.I'll never part with that fine beauty even with all the wear n tear on it. just adds to the beauty!! Thanks for all your videos... Your a good and bad influence hahahaha!!!

@@hickok45 Thank you for all your amazing videos. I absolutely have it in a very safe safe. It will stay with me forever!
My friend had a single-six back in the early 80s. It was the perfect plinking gun. Accurate as heck.
I just found a old Single Six 3 screw at the local shop. And for a good price so, it's mine now. 1959 vintage and VG-Ex condition. Has 5 /12" barrel and original black plastic grip panels. Haven't shot it yet but I will soon. The way ammo prices have gone up - even .22LR, a revolver makes a lot of sense as it slows you down and for the centerfires, it makes saving your brass super easy so you can reload and save money, tune the loads, etc. For recreational shooting and even woods use, a revolver really is about ideal. Not that I don't like autoloaders... just saying. Love you vids Hickok - and always good to know that John is behind the camera.
I love my Single Six. I’ve had it since the mid 80’s. Shoots as good today as it did then. Especially in .22wmr

So glad you just did this video I was looking at buying a frontier scout. Thanks for mentioning about putting five rounds in and leaving the hammer on an empty chamber. Love these cowboy guns and how a single action sounds!
I have 2 consecutive ser.# of the Colt Frontier Scouts. Can remember my father buying them new in early 60's. Some of my funniest shooting memories are with them and my father.
Haha that furball at the beginning was nice
That model RUGER was the first handgun I ever shot, I was 6! My dad would put it in his cowboy boot when we went to the big city!
Hickok45, PLEASE do more vids on early double action Colts: New Police, Police Positive, Official Police, etc. Love your stuff! :)
i love the single action 22s thanks john for the demo

I bought my used Colt .22 scout single 6 with both the 22 LE and 22 WMR from a cowboy out of Granby Colorado after I had my 16th birthday wiring in the hay. It is still my baby even after buying over a dozen other pistols. My first date with my future wife (back 57 years) was shooting that pistol. I love your channel!

Mine is Lr. Only but truly accurate. I tried a lot of 22 revolvers but always go back to my old single six.
Awesome place to shoot. everything is set up perfect I love that gong instant legend
My first handgun was the Ruger single six. My dad bought it from a Western Auto in 1970 when I was 12.
i had that cat's twin the entire time i was growing up. He brought us dozens of birds & gophers & taught many dogs a lesson in combat. I have the little Ruger 22 single action too.
This is one of my favorite videos. I'm still in love with the single six I got several years ago.
Was born the year after his first video and remember watching u when I was five glad I found u again legend
Thank You Hickok45!
I have a single six, a vaquero 357 and a Black Hawk 45 long. I love them all, they give you just a little more to do and slows down the ammo burn 😄
My Scout looks a lot worse than yours, but it has been a reliable companion since I bought it new in 1957. The Scout is a perfect kit gun; light to carry; shoots anything from CB caps to birdshot with never a misfire. I spent a lot of time on horseback back then and felt that a single action with 5 shots was a safer choice than anything else. My only other handgun at the time was an old Luger. The 9mm was too destructive on rabbits and such. Besides, it cost a quarter a shot! The .22 worked just fine, left enough rabbit for supper, and I could afford the cartridges. Shorts and CB caps in the Scout were perfect for keeping the rat population down around the feed bin and quiet enough that it would not batter the ears back before anyone ever thought of hearing protection. I had been wanting a Single Six, but as soon as I saw the Scout behind the counter at our local hardware store, the Single Six went out the window. The Ruger has always looked a bit like a pregnant guppy to my eye - and then there was that ugly flat loading gate! Can't say exactly what it is, but the Scout just is prettier than the Single Six. My school lunch allowance was 50 cents a day - I did not eat lunch for a while because every cent I could get went toward saving up for the Scout. After all of these years, my little Scout is still the one I pick up when I am going for a walkabout - except these days my excursions could more rightly be called "hobbleabouts". All of my grandkids live in non-free states, so unless one of them finds his way back to Texas or some other free state, I will just have them stuff that little Scout into the casket with me.

This is officially my favorite video of yours because of the cat lol
Both very fun guns. I don't currently have a Ruger Single Six in my collection, but my father had two when I was young and I remember shooting them quite well. I do own a 1969 Colt Frontier Scout and have had it out the the range a fair number of times over the last 40 years and the thing is just a joy to shoot. Mines not convertible though and only shoots 22LRs, but has held up very well over the years and still shoots accurately.
I have a colt new frontier with adjustable sights, windage and elevation and a latter model ruger single six with the transfer bar for handgun silhouette in South Australia always watch your videos great content and dry humour. Tony
I had a U.S. Firearms 22lr/22mag. What a beautiful piece.. It was made in the old Colt building. Unfortunately traded it for a hunting rifle for my Kido,, I sure wish I had thought that one through.. Now they are hard to find... The Ruger is a super-great value! Love them.. They just work..
I have a 1965 single six my dad bought brand new. Love it and all the memories
I have a Ruger single six. Fun to shoot. I prefer a couple 9 shot high standards in the collection They are surprisingly accurate and well made.
a nice vidio midweek, and right up my street, thank you mr Hickok.
My single six was given to me by my Grandfather it was his favorite pistol.. I will be giving it to my children when I pass ..
Kind of funny to think that the most wholesome channel I know on KZread is a weapon channel!
You can't get much better than a good single action .22LR/WMR convertible gun. They are so much fun to shoot, accurate, and easy functioning guns.
I've had a Colt Frontier Scout since I was 13 when my dad gave me his for my birthday in 1965. The first ones were .22 magnums and did not come with a long rifle cylinder. ".22 Magnum" is stamped on the barrel. The big wow was the .22 magnum round. They began to be sold with .22 LR cylinders around 1965.
Evenin,Sir. I realize your a Colt Guy.. But every revolver enthusiast in America should own at least one Single Six.
Single six is my dream gun. Had pistols in Australia but can't be bothered jump through the hoops here in New Zealand. Shame as these hand guns are awesome

I have a single six convertible 1957. It was very leaded up barrel and would not group. I put a mixture of white vinegar and peroxide in the barrel and let it soak for 20 minutes. Totally different gun now. Long be it.
Mr. Hickok I've got the exact same Ruger single six. I absolutely love it, one of my all time favorites. I believe it was produced in the 50's. Just a great firearm from days gone by long long before computer controlled CNC's. Then I've got my pre serial number Sears & Robucks .22lr Ted Williams edition bolt action rifle, another beauty and another of my all time favorites. "Life is good" 😁
Think it's time for you to do "The Last .22 I'd Ever Sale." Think it would end up being a high viewed video. Also think Glock will not be in the top 5.

Die Katze ist sehr fein, Herr Lehrer!
I've got a Ruger Single-Six made in 1973, it's a fine gun. Very accurate, fun to shoot. I'd sure like to get a Colt Frontier as well. The only Colts I have are a Colt Woodsman Series 1 that shoots like a dream, that one's from 1940, and a Colt Challenger from 1957. They're both really well made, and more accurate than I can ever hope to be!
My first gun is the 22 Colt single action army that I got in 1962. I still have it with Rose Wood grips and I still have the original grips. I'll never sell it! I'll probably give it to my brother in law or my brother. I love that revolver, many adventures with it.
Great video. 👍👍 my favorite is the ruger black hawk in .357.
Don’t get me wrong,I like Colt and own quite a few, but Ruger is my favorite in revolvers. My father-in-law sold me my 1955 Ruger single six. It’s like mint and I’m the second owner he was the original. “LIFE IS GOOD” Your friend Dan from Jersey, “Defending the 2nd” 🗽🦅🇺🇸👍

Very informative video
i have both...the colt is a q model made in 1958.....the ruger single six was made in 1969 it is a three screw....i enjoy shooting both....the only complaint i have about the colt is the take down screw to remove the base pin...both were pawn shop find...
Once owned a new Super Single Six (1976), with both cylinders. Well 1977 came and soon Fall arrived........We had just bought a house in August, then I bought a brand new Buick station wagon in early October, and the Mrs had just found out that she was pregnant. I so wanted a new Colt Diamondback in 38spl, but it would take months to find all the cash to make that purchase. Yes, I sold My Ruger Super Single Six to My wife's brother, worked a couple week ends for overtime pay, meanwhile, I ordered my new Diamondback, and picked it up late in November 1977. Still have that Colt, but often wish that I still had the Super Single Six.......been thinking about buying another one before I'm pushing up flowers! ~DDZZ
I picked up a 50th anniversary single six a few years ago very nice
I'm just here for the cat
Slamfire probably exits before the shooting starts. No way any cat enjoys that noise. Hopefully CZ will be a good influence on Colt, even if they move some of their operations out of hartford. Colt sold lots of guns to the government and that is why they weren't as responsive to the civilian market.
I'm on my 3rd super single six. Love them. Just put a hundred rounds through mine today.
Ballistol fixed my sink water sprayer plunger. Helpful tip ... it's safe on rubber washer seals ...
I like the Ruger Bearcat! Hope to have one someday.
