Some movies lend themselves to Colorization, and some movies, not so much. This movie is a clear-cut case of being in that rarefied atmosphere as being perfect for Colorization. Thank you for uploading this video. It is a treasure.

This movie was both well written and superbly acted. Also enjoyed seeing the smart fashions of the day. The characterizations of Kris Kringle vs Macy's self proclaimed psychologist were brilliant. All make this piece of nostalgia a yearly treat at Christmas time. ❤ 🎄🎁

A Department Store in Melbourne had the same policy, that when someone knows what they want, but didn’t have the item , the calls would be made to other nearby stores or that special item. That store is now, sadly, closed.

THAT woman, is clearly, suffering from anxiety, depression, anger ETC from a trying divorce 😮😮😮😮. 😂😢😅 funny you, didn't mention, the fact that because of her past, she has put her CRAP onto her child, forcing her negative beliefs on her. Making her not to believe in Father Christmas 🍋🤔🤬(not Santa). Shocking, for a 1947 movie 😮

I was a film archivist for more than three decades: colorizing b/w footage is against every archival principle there is unless a color film's colors are fading and there is no other material available for preservation. I wish people would stop doing b/w colorization. 😝😝

  • @kathleenclark5877

I completely agree with you! It is sacrilege. The way B/W films are lit is completely different from the methods used for colour films. Plus the colours are never properly “true”. People’s faces look like the actors are suffering from jaundice. Thanks for your comment!

Ba Humbug! You might as well bury the films in the backyard or burn them. This colorization technology miracle creates a slim chance that these works may still be watched by people in the future. The is a whole new generation that has never experienced B/W and refuse to watch it. There is so much more at stake than lighting...

When I was around 5yrs old when my mother went into the city, Sydney, she would always take us to Macy's for lunch, I absolutely love it, we hardly did anything like that so it was special to me. I always had a bowl of tomato soup and then sausages with gravy, pea's and mash. Don't know when Macy's shut down, but the outside of the building still has it's name in plaster work.

You have been given the gift of a technological miracle, and a warm family classic. All you can do is complain about a trivial spelling mistake and want to deny this wonderful film to the potential young viewers who would otherwise never watch a Black & White film. I celebrate these gifts. Merry Christmas (if you can manage). Cheers.
