Love that you drew on SpongeBob and his friend's for the pineapple, never thought of doing that, great idea 💛

I never did any serious coloring, but it would probably be fun and relaxing to sit down by myself and color as an adult for a few hours without needing to go off and do anything else. That looked really cool!

Of course I will say Yes! Do it! You can pick up a book relatively cheaply or find free colouring pages online, and set of markers or pencils is all you need to get started 😊 It’s a great hobby to relax and increase your creativity.

Thanks so much 😊 I’m glad you are enjoying it - though once I’ve got this initial set of ideas recorded the video uploads will definitely slow down 😉 I’ve also got the Princess staying for school holidays at the end of the week and nothing will get done while she is here 🤣

I didn’t realise how many Johanna pages you have completed!! They’re beautiful. I found Secret Garden a challenge, the paper wasn’t particularly great and the pages were too busy. Tbh filling in the blanks wasn’t my thing back then. I love how you experiment and aren’t afraid to just go for it!!!❤❤❤

I’ve got a feeling my copy isn’t a very early edition because I didn’t have the yellowing issue and the paper isn’t the worst I’ve encountered…..I think I may have had Millie Marotta books and possibly Kerby before I actually bought Secret Garden 🤔 it’s so long ago I can’t remember!

I luv that bright tree! You are too hard on yourself. Coloring should be enjoyable so just do what makes you happy!

Thank you, I’m not really being hard on myself, just sharing how I feel about certain books. It’s okay to respectfully say a certain style or book just isn’t our “thing” 😉 I am probably around 95% happy that I choose books I love these days, and would colour in my sleep if I could just so I get through them all 🤣 Thanks, for watching and commenting, I appreciate it very much, Jackie

It was really nice to watch your progress, especially the experimentation with different methods of doing things. I don't vibe with Johanna Basford (an I have tried) but that does not mean that I cannot enjoy otrher people's work in her books! 😀

Exactly! I think when you’ve given something a fair chance but aren’t enjoying it then you have to admit the truth 😁

Love to see all your pages! I find myself with too many colors on a page alot too. I saw another youtuber using the book "practical color combinations" by Naomi Kuno. I use that now also, and my pages are improved I must say! 9 colors in each colorcombination. Still sound like much, but they go so lovely together, that it works well on my pages!

That's a great idea! The colour cubes by Sarah Renee Clark are a great idea too. You can also look on Pinterest for colour ideas without before purchasing these things to see if they are helpful 👍 Thanks for watching 😊

I totally thought the signature page on Ivy was intentional.. it looks like a stencil with some pastel or distress ink. I'd go with it and see if you can add some more to just balance it out, maybe trace the pattern on the opposite page to help with the design.

I have a love/hate thing going on with Bassford. I really love some of her work, however she can be extremely repetitive and has a tendency toward wallpaper. She also publishes a lot of duplicate products, using existing art over and over.. and her miniature books are almost uncolorable since she shrank full page designs instead of drawing small pages on purpose. I like World of Flowers and World of Wonder, Ivy is probably my favorite.. her earlier books have a few good pages but a LOT of filler. So.. many.. leaves. I didn't care for Rooms of Wonder and didn't buy it.. about 25% were pages I would like, the rest was utterly boring.. I simply have no interest in coloring pages full of sewing notions or office supplies. I wish that whole book was the fantasy rooms like the bees or balloons. This is going to be blunt.. but I feel she is a lazy artist and highly overrated. My favorite way to color her books is using Prisma.. they can do things other pencils just can't. I can lay dark dark/midtone color and spread it across the white of the paper with a blender or another pencil like butter. It's fast, vibrant, and works really well with her paper. I did some work in Flowers with pure watercolor pencil that turned out lovely..I was testing some Goldfaber Aquas and just kept on going with them for a while... but her (US printed) paper tends to swell with water and doesn't flatten back out when dry so I have to be extremely light with the water.. I was coloring the item with dry pencil and just blending with a damp brush. I also found a bit of success in the new Small Victories with pastel colored Tombows topped with my Chromaflow/Goldfaber combo set (those two pencils are almost the same product so they go together really well and they are both thin cored).

I think there are a few of us who feel that way, and there are a few artists who I admire and like looking at other colourists’ work but have no desire to colour them myself 😉
