Coloring Book Audit STEP 4 - Mythographics

Ойын-сауық

Hello! Welcome to my channel!
Today i am continuing my yearly audit of my coloring books which involves re-writing the list in a brand new journal and going through each book to make sure I have the finished page count right and that I want to keep the book in my collection.
Today is STEP 4 - We are now doing all my Mythographic books and there are more than I thought (LOL). Let's get these babies logged in our new inventory book!
Thank you for following along on my coloring journey!

Really enjoyed this video! Love your Mythographic collection and you have some lovely pages coloured!! I totally agree with you….don’t stress about uncoloured books. If you enjoy them and it brings you joy just having them or flipping through them, then that’s great!! I loved listening to you flip through them….thats how I feel about flipping through my Mythographics….so relaxing and brings me so much joy! Thank you!! 🤗💗

This was so fun to look at your (ever growing) mythographic collection! 😍😍 I was getting scared that you had forgotten one of my favourites - cosmic spirit but how could you when it’s your own favourite! Wild summer is also quickly becoming a favourite of mine but I also love magical earth - I could easily see myself colouring every page in those two! 😍😍 I’m thinking I might need to get labyrinth, crystal kingdom and Shangri la soon as I wasn’t sure when they first came out but the more I see the more I love! 💕

Ive recently added to it with all 23 mythographic books. I have them in chronological order of release, but that is of course for here in the UK. I love watching your joy at colouring in general and happy mail in particular. I notice you love the mythogoria books, am not sure if I should get them as I have the beauty of horror set. Thanks for great videos.

Hi Rebecca!! The Mythogoria books are very different than the Beauty of Horror. Not to influence you, but they compliment each other in any collection because they are both horror and gore while being very different art styles. And they are one sided with decent paper too so that makes them a joy to color. I love them! Especially Night Terrors and Vengeful Forest.

@@HappyCatastrophy hi! First, if any lines of the proper illustration are covered with the ink, I trace them over the ink using a permanent pen so that there are no blank spots . I use the micro something, sorry I can't remember the name and I am not home. They are the brown ones. I find them non to bleed, they're excellent. Mind you, you should use the ink sparingly and in thin layers and let the ink dry if you want to use two or max three layers. You should watch the video as it is very useful and comprehensive. I have often said that I wished Mythographic and the artists would republish the older books after removing the hidden objects from the pictures. Especially Fabiano Attanasio's earlier ones like Enchanted Castles, Paradise, and Dream Garden. I love the images but HATE the strange objects strewn all over on top. I've tried all kinds of ways of attempting to hide the objects or embracing them and it's always a struggle to get a decent result. Joseph Catimbang early on started to limit the number of objects and starting using ones that kind of fit into the picture's theme so his aren't so bad starting with the Aquatic edition. Alessandra Fusi's first book, Wanderlust, was crazy with hidden objects too. Her next one, Dream Weaver, was wonderful. I just ordered her newest, Shangri-La.

I enjoyed this video thoroughly. I started watching this video earlier today and happened to have to go to Walmart and ended up getting wild summer. I don’t blame you for enabling me at all though lol 😂 I was teetering off and on as to whether I wanted to get it or not. It seems to be all the rage from all the colorists! I have just a few (4 I think?) as I just started to enjoy the mythographic books in the past 3 years or so. I find it hard to find finished pages in the few books that I do have and I get super stoked when I see ones that I know and maybe haven’t done bc I need extra motivation. I am excited to see what finished pages/color alongs are out there for wild summer as I know I saw at least zucchini kitty doing one very recently. Here’s to getting some pages done in some mythographics!!! PS HOW DID YOU ALMOST FORGET COSMIC SPIRIT?! that book happens to be the first mythographic book I bought, the first ever color along I ever followed (shoutout to Jen MC) AND the entire reason I came across your channel! Alessandra Fusi has done two Mythographics other than Shangri-la - Wanderlust and Dream Weaver. I always thought her art was beautiful, but her line work was too thin for me and too chaotic, but I do like Shangri-la a lot more. Fantastic Worlds blew me away though. I couldn't believe it was the same artist!

I have all of Joseph's from Odyssey on. He never liked the hidden objects and not only did fewer than the others, but started purposefully making them fit the image from that point on. I have all of the other books from the main three artists after the objects stopped.. up until last year when they started releasing them twice as often and added a bunch of new artists. Since then I've only bought Joseph and Fabiana. I actually spoke with Joesph last month on his YT channel regarding the possibility of re-releases or artist editions of his old books, objects free.. he said he would love to do it if the publisher would allow it. If anyone else wants them contact the publisher and make your wishes known. I adore Animals and Aquatic.. but I just can't with the objects, I've tried many different things but I can't find a way to cover them to my satisfaction. I invest a lot of time in a Mythographic page so I'm not willing to end up with something I'm not happy with. I base all of mine in pastel alcohol marker first, this really helps map out a page. Start with the items you know and everything else is easier to figure out as you go. The pastel colors give you just a general idea of hue and temperature, you can go over the top with other colors to give variation. Using the same green base for all the plants for example also helps make a page more cohesive, which can be a challenge with these books. There is just SO much going on it's easy to have it turn into a mess of stuff. The original Ohuhu 48 pastel set (they have renamed them now but it's the one with the color "prawn") in the Honolulu B format (brush/fine tip) is PERFECT for this purpose, it has a warm and cool of every hue and is inexpensive.. even comes in a nice little case. I used that set alone for a couple of years for my Mythographics. I have a curated 144 set now (both pastel sets and the midtone set) which I love but honestly I get into trouble with it sometimes.. it's so easy to throw too many colors at a page. I love a thin pencil like Chromaflow or Goldfaber for shading all the small spaces, but also use my Polychromos extensively as they sharpen and hold a fine point... and of course metallic and glitter pens.. I just can't do one of these pages without some shine and sparkle.

the first ten books have hidden objects. they are in order :animals, imagine, aquatic, enchanted castles, paradise, odyssey, frozen fantasy, dream garden, wanderlust, and wild winter. The following books in order don't have any hidden objects: voyage, menagerie, magical earth, dream weaver, cosmic spirit, aviary, deep blue, illusion, labyrinth, fairy wonderland, crystal kingdom, , shangr-la, and wild summer. There are also books to come later this year and early next year: mythical beasts, magick apothecary, rainbow realms, fantasy forest, and dragon spell in that order. Hope this helps? also have the mythogoria order if interested? thanks. P.s the one that creeps you out, even though some of the goria ones don't, are penguins in evening dress or penguin suits as they are sometimes jokingly known here in UK.
