Colorado Trail Thru Hike 2023: Days 14-22 (Lake City/Durango)
I recently completed a second thru-hike of the Colorado Trail in as many years. Although I had a great time on my first thru-hike in 2022, I left that experience feeling like it wasn't my best rep. I can't stop on a bad rep.
So, I decided to do it again. This time armed with more knowledge and patience for the difficulty of the altitude and terrain. This video brings my first 5 days on trail to the viewer.

A beautiful series of videos! Thanks so much for taking the time to document your thru-hike for the rest of us.
Not that I don’t enjoy your commentary and insights, but I gotta say that I love the newer format with just scenery and music.
So good I stopped watching on my phone until I could play these all on the big screen at home. Congrats on the hike and the video series.
I find myself rediscovering your page whenever I get a sense of impending major change, struggle, or just need some peace. Especially your AT thru hike series, which quite literally changed my life during a very transitional period of my life. Thank you.

What an awesome comment. Made my day. Appreciate you reaching out. You are right where you are supposed to be. 🤘🕓
How beautiful…
Respect brother, love the video ,watched them all since the AT, I for one miss your rambling thoughts
Thanks ER. For taking us on the path with you. Got your book today 10/17 then your summit video. I think since you get up early . I'm going to get up at 5:00 have coffee and start reading your book. You know as I have said before. I grew up near Mt Mitchell and still live up here. And still hike a lot at 72 years old. I go to montana some wyoming utah mexico and outwest. But I don't know what it is about Colorado but it's just my kind of place. I don't know if it's all the high mountains with trees or what. I hope to do some hiking there soon. Thanks again the views. DUCES 👍
Beautiful views !
I was SO happy when I saw you're hiking & vlogging again. You've been missed. I am going to start at the beginning and watch this series. You are one of my favorites!
What a beautiful and serene atmosphere my friend! Breathtaking views!
Congrats ER on another CT thru hike ⛰️🥾. Really enjoyed the video series and seeing you back out there! Looks like this one was a bit colder than the last - the snow capped mountains looked beautiful. Be well my friend
CONGRATULATIONS! I have literally one million questions! Savor the accomplishment. You are amazing. Truly enjoyed watching this journey 🙏🏻
Enjoyable video. Liked the choices you shot, the editing, and the music. Colorado: what a place! Good luck going forward.
Congratulations! You looked more at peace this time!
Heck yeah, brother! Congratulations on completing round two! Thanks for taking us along.
Wow! 22 days! Congratulations! Colorado Girl.
Just outstanding. Thank you!
Absolutely loved every second of your 2023 CT videos….I’ve watched these with the biggest smile on my face. Having your 2023 CT series with just music and perfectly balanced walk bys, and other angles just makes this so relaxing and also something to be proud to watch for years to come. Proud of you brother. I can so relate to you wanting/needing to return and hike this trail all over. Last Summer I got a little over 300 miles before my ankle couldn’t do another mile and then starting over this Summer, I got 120 miles before agonizing heel pain took me off. I have to return and finish this beautiful trail….it will take a couple years before I can return…..already thinking about it.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Congratulations!!! Beautiful country. Your videos are top notch for sure. You have the editing portion figured out. Thanks so much for sharing. It’s good to see you out there doing what you love !
Its been a pleasure watching your hikes since you hiked the AT in 2017. Congrats on your completion of the CT this year. Be safe on your continued travels
I do miss your commentary and the streams of consciousness you would have while hiking…. But I also like this style and understand you are a man on a mission and cleaning out your proverbial hiking closet.
Great videos ER. I always love your presentations even when it’s background music. God Bless
Hey Thanks again brother keep on humping great videos
Congrats on the completion of another thru hike. Love your videos! Would also love to see a gear review or at least hear your thoughts on your new tent and backpack. Thanks for all you do for our community.
Brings it all back to me man! Late season for the San Juan’s and know it was damp n chilly. Great job in all respects my friend!
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your adventure. Hope you have many, happy trails ahead.
Congrats
Hey ER! Congrats on finishing the CT. I've always been inspired by your 2017 AT thru hike so I biked the entire 2700mi GDMBR this year. Thanks so much!
Man. This was my first thru. 2015. I have memories of this section that beat the CDT and AT in terms of views/rewards. Such great times on the CT!
I really enjoyed your AT thru hike and your more recent Colorado Trail Hike and learned a lot! Thanks. I have decided to attempt a thru hike of the AT starting at Amicalola Falls on February 21, 2024! I hope you and your family are doing well. Take care.

Kick ass! Have a good time. There are many hard days ahead. Push through . The ending is worth the pain! 🤘🕑
Thanks!
Watching you cross those broad rolling hills, it comes as a bit of a shock to see that 13,000+ altitude highpoint. As always, thank you for taking us along through this beautiful world.
Beautiful country hiked by an awesome man! God Bless America and all that keep her free! Love ya brother
Excellent, as always -- and congratulations on finishing it for the second time! I've only been back for 2 weeks, but watching your videos makes me miss it terribly. How did you like the zippered closure on your zPacks tent? I've been debating getting one.
Thanks Early Riser. Lovely peaceful series.
Thank you, ER. I have been so moved by your CT hike. May you be well as you continue on in your Life.
Man it’s great to see you back on the trail! Enjoyed the videos as always. A little different style on these. Reminds me of Kraig Adams and Harmen Hoak. Maybe the CDT next??? PCT? Or the AT again.
Absolutely stunning scenery! Very peaceful, unlike what’s going on in the world today! I hope you found what you were lacking on your first CT hike. Peace and blessings.
Very nice!
Congrats on another successful thru hike of the CT. I hope this odyssey brought you everything you were looking for. Would love to hear your take on the two journeys. What was the same and what was different, East vs west collegiate, etc
Stunning, peace-inspiring. Thank you. Hope you found what you sought in this journey.
Must say. I miss your commentary during the videos. But thanks for sharing!
Hope you are doing well.
I was hiking with my Belgian Malinois…his collar read “Assshole in training”😂. I was a zombie a few days could have passed without noticing😂
Excellent! Did you discover what you were looking for this time around?
ER,when did you hike this trail?
No shit! Just looked back at my pix. Hitched into lake city September 11 and out 12.
We met just outside SNP on your AT hike. Gotta love the CT. I hope to hike it again this fall. I hiked it with my pup in 2021.

Very nice. Did you have a lot on your mind? Or Did you choose a different way to present your video? Hope you and your family are doing well. Keep on keeping on. Don from Virginia.
I gotta say I'm missing the early riser commentary. I understand you're trying something different.
Congrats on the completion of the CT. My wife and I enjoyed the videos. Trey, have you considered the Camino de Santiago. There are several routes in Spain as well as Portugal and France. We walked the Northern route in Spain last fall, and it was an amazing experience . Just something to think about, Great job once again Getty & Mo.
Have you thought about coming to Trail Days 2024 in Damascus ?
Forgot to ask what month you do it again? Hopefully doing again this September…love the fall in the Rockies!
