Debi, thank you for being vulnerable in sharing your story. I'm sure opening up a brick and mortar business takes courage, tenacity, and many sleepless nights, something many of us admire but will never be brave enough to do. And then, there's your Dad. What an angel! If only every one of us could have an angel like him in our lives. Better yet...maybe each one of us can be that angel in someone else's life. Wishing you an abundance of blessings in your next journey. We'll be right here cheering for you!!! 💖

As a 57 yr old married,father/Grandfather of 6. I wonder how many other men out there have found that chalk painting and reconditioning of furniture is a rewarding and relaxing hobby. I had not ever worked with furniture until discovering this channel maybe 5-6 years ago. My favorite creation is a headboard I made for my daughter as a house warming gift out of an antique door. Just thought that I’d chime in as a male viewer that appreciates Debbie’s channel. I find inspiration in her words too!

Debbie this video brought tears to my eyes, the one main takeaway for me was that this was part of your journey all along, it helped you grow spiritually and redirected your purpose, guided you to where you were supposed to be all along, most important showed you that you are LOVED beyond words and are surrounded by those that bring true meaning into your life (your papa is AMAZING ♥️)…may you continue to find all that makes you happy and makes your heart smile, thank you for sharing your gift with the World♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

We love you so much! We are rough rocks with bumps and imperfections. Through our lives the lord allows our trials to refine us, to turn us into gems. It is through his Grace that all our shortcomings are made up. I don’t doubt that your trials have refined you, and smoothed your edges turning you more into the gem he knows you are. You’re a bright light in my world. When we are together I am reminded of the blessing it was that we were brought together. Thank you for always sharing your story and bringing others to the light of Christ along your way. I can’t wait to fly out to see you and work together on colors. Your shop on Cedros is inspiring and full of creative energy. ❤️

Love you Debi and so glad your Dad breathed life back into the almost 100 year old Cottage. One day, I hope to get to shop there! God is always good and He is always on time! Keep smiling.❤️

I just love you and can't wait to meet you one day. I was watching "The Chosen" a couple days ago and remembered you were in the episode of the sermon on the mountain. I tried to imagine just how that felt and I was so happy to know you were chosen too. You have been used so many times with your stories to anchor my soul, to encourage me and to put determination in my heart again. Your stories give me reflection on things in my life and I think of Jesus and the parables He told. You are such a blessing to me. Thank you. I cried when you told of your 78 year old dad doing that hard work for you, his precious daughter.

I was afraid my brushes would end up on a live of you unboxing them. I have them both sitting on my craft shelf reminding me to have some confidence, allow others to offer constructive criticism, & to suck it up buttercup-always believe in your self. ❤

I don’t know if I would have lasted that long but you hung in there. You were doing your best as if working for the Lord. God is faithful to those who love and trust Him and apparently you did. It was HIS timing. And that’s always perfect. Just keep trusting Him, stay in His Word and you will prosper though not without some road bumps as we are in a fallen world. I will pray for you that you stay on that path. ❤

This made me cry! So relatable in so many ways. I'm 67 years old, will be celebrating 50 years of marriage this year, have owned and operated my resale/gift shop for 38 years and so many times in all those years I would ask God....what am I doing? Is this your will? Is this your plan? I'm weary and so tired Lord, please give me strength. And He always does. I'm in the middle of a few large remodeling projects on my property and it's getting to me. But God........I know will give me the strength to get it all done! \o/

you know Debi, i was sad when you left this little store and went big. so many things changed including the shift to facebook and losing you here on youtube where i had followed you for so many years. but i have to say, i don't think it was a mistake. you needed to create that larger store and did so many wonderful things there. and now it's time to right size again for a better quality of life. and maybe that's the lesson learned. take care of yourself and all will fall into place. welcome home Debi Beard. enjoy your life. bless your father, family and friend for always being there for you.

Wow, this is just so timely for me. I have a brick and mortar, 2 antique booths, I sell online and have a KZread channel and am questioning how I thought having so much on my plate was a good idea. I'm feeling overwhelmed, overworked and like theres no end in sight and that I need to make some drastic changes. Seeing you be open and authentic about your store that you put so much time in effort into, ON KZread, really is such a strong message for me to let go of some of what I thought were great decisions if they are no longer making me happy and fulfilled regardless of what I may think I have to do to make money or meet expectations. I want to live a more relaxed, easy going life and that means less commitments not more. I think we're both to the point of letting go of the hard driving workaholism that's so much a part of our society.

Debbie, I had a dad like yours. He could do anything, and would do anything for his children. When I was a new driver I'd run out of gas because I would push it to see how far I could go and he would always bring me gas and wouldn't chastise me. Just give me a kiss on the cheek and say you better get going, you don't want to be late...he died about 6 yrs ago at 94. Your dad reminds me so much of him. We are lucky girls, not every one has selfless dad's like ours. Glad your back in your happy place. Good luck to you. Maybe some day I'll get to your store, although I did meet you when you came to tn with Jamie awhile ago, to fairview I believe it was. Have a great day!

Debbie, this video was amazing, and so what I needed to hear today. God uses people like you to uplift and inspire others. I lost my 20-year business during covid and suffered so many other set backs, I broke my back during my last move and lost my dad at the same time and two of my animals. So it's so heartwarming to see your dad in your videos and seeing him be your Savior in your time of need. Yesterday was my dad's birthday, and even though he isn't here, his calm healing nature completely overtook me when I normally would have lost it. My dad was an artist and I inherited his creative gene. After he died, writing and painting became two of my new passions. I've always had this gift but have not used it in 20 years. So thank you for all that you do. Watching your videos and hearing your stories always brightens my day. One of these days I would love to check out your store, I'm only an hour away. I love San Deigo and going down there when I had horses I was always down there, thats where I kept them.

Oh Debbie, I love this so much, God does show the way, it's for us to get a grip on the plan...my daughter and I too are going through this change, I'm 73 but have that strong connection to a shop, been doing this for 35 years...we moved from Iowa to Florida, a huge rent and a 5 year lease, then 2 weeks into our well received opening, covid hit...I do think we are missing out not doing shipping, but I think it's doable and this gives me hope...I've been doing this for 35 years, though now with your wonderful DIY paints...we need a change as well and like I said, you've given me hope...and YES, there's that end of video dance I've so missed...!

Debi, I love all your videos but girl this one hit me right in the heart. Your Dad reminded me so much of mine. There wasn't anything my Dad couldn't do and he was right by my side supporting me in my accomplishments and my not so great moments. Sadly I lost him to cancer in 1995 and miss him terribly. I have followed you from afar, North Carolina, from your earliest yard sales videos. Your faith and stories have been a source of strength and motivation to me. Your journey is awe inspiring. I know the stress all too well that you were under and while at the time you may have felt like you made a huge mistake but as Bob Ross said, "We don't make mistakes, just happy accidents" Congratulations on your newly renovated store and I wish you much success in all that you do. Take care and "I'll see you in the next video."

THANK YOU!!! I have been so curious why you moved after all that work on the new store. But I COMPLETELY understand! Bigger is not always better. It costs in so many ways. And as I have gotten older - it takes a toll on us (even though we have our young minds still!) but enjoyment and less stress is the Moto of our later season. Debi- this is far from a failure, it’s enlightenment to how you need to live a fuller life. So that trip to your young woman’s ‘dream’ of a bigger and busier store, was just not older Debis dream anymore. You have come full circle- back to what made you happier. BRAVO for listening to your soul- you’re back home.

Thank you for sharing. I've been going through a great deal of transistion since my husband died 3.5 years ago and I had to move from my home to a small older MFG home in a tiny town south of Portland. I've been sitting here for a couple days wondering if I did the right thing by buying this place. Just before I started watching your video I was questioning if I acted in haste and got myself in a pickle. I've worked hard to do this whole transition in step with the Lord, and here I am questioning things. I bought this when I realized I would finally have an art studio after 33 years of waiting for a place to work. I'm not moving a business, but trying to figure out what my life at 67 is supposed to look like and I'm a little lost right now. Your question at the end...am I doing this out of love...I'm taking that with me. So thanks Debbie. I'm glad we will be seeing more of you and your work. btw...your dad reminds me of my husband. He fixed everthing. God bless and here's to the best success as we walk forward with what God has for us. ~Patty~

The joy of running water. I can relate. My sister and I have been without running water for 8 1/2 weeks due to the Christmas freeze in Texas. Our plumber had a serious accident, was hospitalized, had a month long recovery and we just got our water back on yesterday! He is the only one we trust. So much of your story I am sure many many of us can relate to. It sure gives us time to pause and reconsider the crossroads in our life and the path God has chosen for us. A beautiful video, straight from the heart! In order to grow as a person we need to risks to learn. These are never mistakes, they are lessons, lessons that we learn from and make us a better person and for you, a better creative. Enjoy this new beginning in life, as we are thrown so many new challenges but never be afraid Debbi to take the risk and to learn from it.

Miss Debbie ❤️ you are one Amazing! Person! Your dad is an Angel what a blessing 🙌 to have him cherish him everyday of the rest of his life! I just lost my dad Last year in January the 26th of 2022. I miss and loved him so much!! He was searching inspiration. Thats what I see in your father too. He's done so many projects for everyone in our family including building dollhouses for my mom and I. Debbie keep going you are back in your little home of Art for a reason! That's where God Wants you,I he loves you and he gives everyone second chances! You will be great!! I will keep you in prayer! And will be out there to see all that you done. Evelyn from Las Vegas! GOD BLESS YOU!

This is one of my favorite videos of DIY PAINT over the years. There is SO MUCH MEAT discussed here. Debi this had to be a very difficult 😢to live but even more so to tell. Something that’s attracted me to you is your very based unassuming real self. I prefer authentic people and they are a blessing when God brings them into our lives. This video made me cry in several places. Your dad fixing the plumbing in Cedros was one that got me. You are so blessed to have such solid family support behind you. I must admit I’m a bit envious of that. The Bible tells us that in this life we WILL have struggles. A friend sent me a devotional a few years back when my world unraveled and took a totally unexpected permanent turn. Its called “Streams In the DESERT” by LB Cowman. It’s blessed me again and again over the years. God bless you as you continue to wade through this life.

You have a wonderful father, he’s in great shape for his age, and he is so helpful to you. I don’t see your moving to the big store as a mistake at all. It was something you wanted your whole life, and you had it for a season. Had you never experienced that, you would’ve always felt deprived or wondered what it was like for the dream to be fulfilled. You needed to be there in order to realize that it was more demanding than you really wanted. So now you can say you’ve “been there and done that” but are in the right situation now, without feeling like you missed out on something that you always wanted. Everything in life is for a season, some are short seasons, others last longer, but in each case they accomplish what they were meant to do. Cuties doggies. God bless.

I’m sure I’m one in hundreds that’s been touched by this video. I have missed you! We spend so much time worrying about how when God has the plan and we can make it through things we thought would put us under. I think my biggest to now was the loss of a son. But God’s son had to die too. He has the answers.

Your heart was restless before thinking you must be and do more and you did, only to learn less is more. Not as a mistake, but as an intentional experience. Never let life get so busy you cannot hear your own voice that’s connected to God! Bravo sis❤

Debi, I have missed your videos and am always excited when I see a new one. Your stories are so honest and poignant, I admire the journey you’ve taken only to end up where you were you were really meant to be. A lot of hard work and soul searching. Your dad is a hero. I can’t get DIY paint up where I live and was trying to figure out if it made sense for me to open a little boutique with it as center star. Until then, I will have to plan my trips down the mountain to Phx to buy.

Furniture painting has been the most fun project, and you probably don’t realize how inspirational your videos are. It’s hard to explain to others the joy in painting something old that could easily go in the trash, and it becomes uniquely yours, and you see beauty in every brush stroke and color. Thank you for telling us this painful story that brought you to a place of peace and happiness. You are the BEST, le meilleur, la mejor!
