Color Organ DISCO LIGHT 1970s Working [A Look Inside!]
Ғылым және технология
Picked this 70s disco light up at a garage sale. The lights flash to the beat of the music. I have a modern one built into my portable player, but this blast from the past is really cool.

The translucent textured plastic on the front that the lights shine through looks like the same material used on the Disco Sound Machine record player that also came out in the 70s.
We used to build them in school using Christmas lights. This was before disco.
So, it's the facing that creates the distortion of light, normal decorative color bulbs. I'll guess the sound sensitive bit was maybe available at stores like Radio Shack. The Monkees use a large type in the video for Star Collector. Nice ! 🎶🎶⭐
Want one!!
I found one of those at an auction sale in the early 1980's. It reminded me of one that a buddy of mine in the Army had built, his was not all that in tune, but had flashing Christmas lights then a thin filter that had cut outs of shapes and letters, then the translucent outer filter. When turned on the shapes and letters appeared all over the external filter and for some reason the mind sort of put it in sync with the fantastic music that was out there in the early 70's. He wanted me to help him build a better unit but we never got around to it, seemed the Army had other plans and transferred him to Germany, me, I was transferred to the DC area with The Old Guard in preparation for the bi-centennial. Man that was a time to be in DC! Ah the memories of an old man, I could write a book on my days with The Old Guard, we had members that guarded the Tomb of the Unknowns, we had the last stable in the Army with teams of matched horses to pull the caissons with coffins to Arlington National Cemetery, just beyond the small 3 foot tall wall from Fort Meyer, we had theatrical lighting and stage sound systems the we maintained and operated at pageants put on for Congress and the public.
It look really awesome
Looks awesomer in a dark room
Thanks for this video. I found one of these locally and was wondering what it looked like inside so this is helpful
