Color Grading with the SpyderX

Фильм және анимация

Today we're talking a couple of key areas I KNOW that I need to improve on for this channel: consistently clean audio and colour grades that look good and don't change every video. However, I didn't realize my monitor was letting me down and screwing up my colour grading. Thankfully, this Datacolor SpyderX is coming to the rescue and the proof is in this pudding video... or something like that.

Watching on iPad and it looks good. Great product to review as this is really useful information. What shotgun mic are you using? Thanks for sharing .

Using my Rode VideoMic Pro+ plugged into a little Zoom H1. Does the trick.

purple as hell!! lmao naw it looks natural. I stopped watching a few YTubers that always had a purple tint to their video's. I just couldnt take their advice on video's when they are purple. Cool gadget and looks like it would help you create a baseline for colors.

My heart stopped for a second haha! KZread always adds a touch of red in their own processing and this one sadly never made it to 4K so that's driving me crazy. I had a pink light as a hair light but I think this turned out decent. Thanks for the comment - this thing is neat.

Very helpful. Do you use a red light while recording?

I don't, typically, no - but I do have a few multicolor LED bulbs in lamps behind that I rotate the lights on as well as a couple LED cans (like what was pointed at the back of my head in this video)

I have a shitty old monitor - everything looks bad on it. So does it work that way? If I make something look good on it, then it will look good everywhere?

Haha, maybe! But the key is if it’s honest or just bad. If it can’t show colours or contrast well then I’d upgrade first.
