In today’s video I will explain why and how I use Filmconvert to grade my work.
Recently a lot of you have asked me to talk about my color grading process,
and since my last video was made 2 years ago I thought now would be a good time to make another one.
Hopefully this is helpful to you.
Let me know if you have any questions :).
Cheers,

@@OfTwoLands You should make more tutorials about your workflow with ProRes and BRAW, and promote your luts + FilmConvert in those videos. Or you should take a course on this topic. Also, I would buy from you a course about all your workflow with shooting, settings in bmpcc, transcoding, colour grading ProRes/BRAW from bmpcc and iPhone 15 Pro. I would like to master my bmpcc 6k but it takes so much time for me to do it from KZread tutorials and I would buy a dedicated course for 100$+. If you ever shoot raw, do you bring it in to resolve and just get your iso and white balance dialed and then export out as pro res to final cut? I’m curious what your workflow would be if you did shoot raw. I’m a Sony shooter, considering the switch but I’m totally entrenched within final cut and dont want to switch entirely. @@OfTwoLands I have found that as long as one uploads to 4K and the grain is the size of 35 or Super 35mm it works fine with KZread compression. That's been my experience. With 16mm grain either from FC or using overlays the compression will sometimes smear it and you end up with a softer image with less pronounced grain, sometimes even ugly compression artifacts depending on the grain and footage. Darker scenes tend to suffer the most.

Filmconvert will only color grade the footage. Converting a digital footage to a film footage EXACTLY requires frame to frame temporal emulation also. Like motion blur emulation etc.

Personally, though I think film emulation adds to the cinematic look I don't find the "grain" to be an absolutely necessary part of that. The only time I would really want to "ADD" grain is when trying to make the footage like it was truly shot at another time period. That's just me. I also think SLO-MO is waaaaaaaaaaaay overused and has become a lazy way to give the idea of smoothe footage. Lastly, though I'm guilty of using shallow depth of field a lot I am paying attention to its overuse now as well. We all have the tools but let's use them and not OVERUSE them.
