Love this. I'm preparing a shoot that will likely end up B&W so this is super helpful.

Interesting. Printed black and white for 10 years, often Tri-X very grainy. I like the look. I’ll have to give this a try with my BMPCC4K in BRAW in Davinci Resolve.. and edit in FCPX (computer too slow to edit BRAW )

It wasn’t blown out, plus the artist didn’t mind. This kind of thing is usually avoided with makeup (of which we used none) rather than lighting/grading

@@HarvVideoAudioStuff I see. Thanks for the tip! I will tell my friend he needs to apply makeup from now on lol He always complains about the shiny highlights.

I have to admit though for me personally the final output from the last method makes his nose look very dark, especially compared to the second (in my opinion the best looking color grade). its almost noticeably dark and somewhat comical and draws too much attention to it. but I suppose these things are such a subjective matter.. either way thanks for the vid

I dislike Colour Grading in B&W (well that's what you're technically doing--Colour Grading until it's B&W). That's because you're not Thinking in B&W. You're just doing colour.. with B&W as an afterthought. I'm not pro in B&W, but this one I'd probably 'edit' with additional physical lighting on his face (the subject of the shoot.. or keep it at his shirt if that's the subject). Plus I'd raise the highlights to the point of almost burning out sth! (Cause that's how I like my B&W!) Anyways, thanks for uploading. I think I like your Teal and Orange grade

I absolutely was thinking b&w, it was filmed knowing that’s what we going to do. The client loved the video so that’s the important thing eh 😛
