Color Changing Flowers Experiment (Biology)
Welcome to our exciting "Color Changing Flower Experiment" on KZread! Ever wondered how to turn your white flowers into a vibrant display of colors? Dive into the magic of the "Food Coloring Flower Experiment" and see how simple it is to transform petals with just a few drops.
In this video, we break down the "Colored Flowers Science Project Hypothesis", exploring the scientific principles behind the uptake of colored water into the petals. Whether you're a student looking to understand the "Flower and Food Coloring Experiment" for a school project or just a curious soul, this is your one-stop guide to grasping the process.
By the end of our color-changing journey, you'll not only learn the steps of the "Color Changing Flower Experiment" but also the fascinating science behind it. So, if you've ever pondered why and how flowers can change color when placed in colored water, stay tuned!
▶️ Get supplies to try the dyed flowers experiment:
www.beardedscienceguy.com/how...
▶️ How to make food coloring dyed flowers:
Step 1: Cut the stems of white or beige flowers at a 45-degree angle.
Step 2: In an empty container, add 200 mL of warm water, one teaspoon of sugar, one teaspoon of white vinegar, and 15 to 20 drops of food coloring. Remember, the more food coloring you add, the darker the coloration will be in the flowers.
Step 3: Once the contents are mixed well, add your flower to the container, and observe.
▶️ How the dyed flowers experiment works:
The reason this works is that flowers have vascular tissues called xylem which transport water and minerals up the stem to the flowers and leaves where the water evaporates, leaving the food coloring to get darker and darker.

Thanks this really helped with my science project
Hey, wasn't this the same professor on the island with Gilligan? Props, dude!!👍
Psa don’t give up hope if nothing happens over night :) most likely just not enough food colouring just change the water the next day with the same steps and just add a ton more colouring it’s what I did and it worked (I’ve been changing the water everyday while there still alive and colour has improved with a lot more food colouring)

Love it me and my friend are doing an experiment the same as that!😊
Can I use this for baby breath flowers
How long did it take to get a full color without any white showing
hi i want to dye lilies do i do the same as for roses ?
The Green one was amazing.
Does it matter if it’s gel food coloring? Does it work the same?
What is the purpose of the white vinegar and sugar?
How long does it take
I have a question if anyone can answer that will be great. What happens if he put more vinegar or sugar in the mixture for the water, does the transport in the xylem move faster? What was the point of adding the sugar and vinegar?

Sugar for food, vinegar to prevent bacterial growth.
I want green roses! This one I'm doing tomorrow. Thanks, bearded Science guy!
How long do you leave the flower in the water to change the color
Is this working... I wanna try this
Can we also apply that process on other plants as well
After it changed its color can we plant the cutting in the soil and when it grows it w will give you the color you expecting

I have heard of growing daisies in a pot and watering them using dyed water.
Has anyone tried it with potted starter plants?
Why with sugar?
How many hours this effect can be observed?
How much time does it take for it to change color?

This is what I came to find out.
Idk if you know this yet since it's been a year but if anyone comes across this comment then hey! The sugar is like glucose, right? The respiratory system of a plant converts Glucose + oxygen into water + carbon dioxide. The xylem and Phloem (Two 'tubes' in a plant stem) take the water (so the food colours as well in the case of this video) or rather, solutes (liquids) and food nutrients (The dissolved sugar in the video) respectively and translocate them to use in respiration and photosynthesis (Literally the opposite equation). I am going to guess that the vinegar is used as a catalyst for this? I did triple science (Top science in UK) a long while ago and passed Biology but if any of this is wrong then I apologise and I'd like for you to correct me politely, please? I do Art now in College. Just Art. P.S. This is the first video I've watched of the beardedScienceGuy so you'd probably learn more there.

Cut flowers last longer without decomposing in a solution if vinegar and sugar.
How long does it take for a rose to dye with color water?
@BeardedScienceGuy

It depends on a few factors. Dry vs humid air, length of stem, clean cut on the stem, color of food coloring (some colors have large particles that move up the stem very very slowly if at all) usually between 1-8 hours.

Yes, the vinegar just causes the flowers to last longer. If you have a flower bouquet packet that you mix in with water, it serves the same purpose. Good luck experimenting!

It depends on a few variables like the temperature, humidity, and the concentration of food coloring. I would say between 1 and 8 hours.

It really depends on the plants current hydration, the air temperature, and the humidity in the air. I would expect some results within a few hours.

It took mine days can’t really make pastels you have to use a lot of dye just for colour to show
And tought me that the vascular tissue of the flower is what gives it its minerals.
So if I put glow in the dark coloring, then will the flower glow in the dark
@BeardedScienceGuy

It depends on the size and polarity of the glow in the dark molecule but there is a good chance it will work.
