Fantastic video demonstrating this classic technique! Question for ya'll- local blacksmith here, and our shop is interested in doing a crossbow making class that would involve case hardening some of the lock and trigger work- if, on say a receiver, you have holes that are to be tapped for screws, at what stage in your process do you cut the threads? Before case hardening, or after- if after, I would assume post-temper. If before, do the delicate threads need to protected in any way from minor surface losses do to the time spent at critical temperature/quenching and clean up? Also curious as to how you clean up the surface post-quench- wire wheel, polishing compounds.. I'm so curious! Your work is fantastic gentlemen, keep it up!!

Love your videos, and just noticed your not that far away if I need some Browning work done. Some of those before and after shots are incredible.

Beautiful work, guys. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to use the method for retouching old mild steel sculptures. Thanks a bunch! Question off subject, if you don't mind: What music is that you are using at the end of the video?

Excellent process, very little known in Argentina. Could you tell me at what temperature the heating is carried out and for how long? Thank you

Would it be possible to case harden an auto 5? I’ve got one that had some holes drilled into it and then welded up. Friend told me it would look good if it was case hardened

So how come you highballed that finished receiver and lever into the quench like you needed information from them? Do they tend to stick in the tube uless you jar 'em out of there?

I guess you would technically say you were case coloring. The surface of the the gun should already have been hardened when it was produced.
