I remember watching my Dad unwrap the tinsel every Christmas, put it on the tree one by one and repeat the same process to put it away... I keep it for sentimental sake. I don't have the same patience as my Dad!!! 🎄

I could’ve written this post. Decorating the tree was my Dad’s job and he was very particular. Each ornament and every strand of tinsel was very carefully placed. ❤️

My mother put tons of tinsel on the tree when I was a kid and when we got old enough, we had to help take it off and save it for the following year. It was the metal kind that Linda has here.
What a tease,, Linda! Love the beautiful holly garland on the second mantel.
Plus in addition there is nothing better than a pot of home made soup to warm the very soul on a cold winter's night.
I always enjoy your decorating. It's traditional in the best way. Turkey soup? Yes please! Not only is your home beautiful but I'll bet it smells delicious! I look forward to seeing the rest.
Nothing like a good homemade soup on a cold dreary day. So excited to see your decorating for Christmas has started :)
Tinsel fan here, always had a fresh tree my brother Jimmy and I would bring in from the mountain side, we had the old lights and tinsel and so many old glass bulbs. At 69 I still use tinsel, Tree really comes alive when tinsel goes on🎄❣️
Good idea to keep us waiting for the full Christmas decoration tour, it’s nice to have something to look forward to, the tree with the Victorian tinsel looks lovely…🎄🎄
As a little girl my uncle taught me how to carefully put the tinsel on the tree. Each strand had a little weight to it, not like todays. So loved the shimmer from it and as that little girl long ago how magical it all felt. Love your colonial home and the trimmings!
Thank you to sharing , you delicious turkey soup, and sooner you going to have , you kitchen don and the rest your home .I like you garland in you fireplace is gorgeous🥰
You tease!!! Can't wait to see the final result!!! Thank you for sharing..💚💚Love the hutch on the porch...
Thank you for the reminder to make our own stock! Your soup looked scrumptious and very heart warming. Excited to see more wallpaper. Thank you for sharing Linda!
Nothing says Home to me more than a log fire burning in the hearth ..❤️🙂
🙋♀️I have my grandmother's lead tinsel. When I was a child, removing and properly packaging the tinsel was my job. I continue my "job" every year, Christmas memories! ⛄🎄❄
Love it Linda.. The tinsel brought back some wonderful childhood memories 🎄.. It’s all coming together.. Can’t wait.. Thank you..
I always look forward to watching your videos. I am especially interested in the kitchen and butler pantry remodel. We are planning a large renovation project that will start in May 2023 that will include an addition and a brand new kitchen (the current kitchen is from the 1980's) will include a GE French door wall oven like yours! For now, I need to be patient and enjoy your kitchen remodel from afar.
Lovely video Linda, nothing like a cozy and snug day making soup and listening to Christmas music. I’ m baking cookies on this rainy Rhode Island day..🎄👍..Love, Liz🎁

Enjoy!
Thanks for the update. Everything looks beautiful. I don’t remember ever seeing the green room before. I can’t wait to see the finished decor.
I'm enjoying your shorter and more frequent updates! The soup looks so yummy! Can't wait for your Christmas video and to see the progress of the kitchen.
It is looking so pretty! I love to get ideas from other people's decorations.
Hi Very cozy Daily Thank U for sharing And also good evening
Your Christmas decorations look so pretty🎄. I so enjoy your videos. You make home life so cozy and fine! Turkey soup looks yummy💕
Hello Linda, you are always coming up with some amazing ideas. My grandmother had tinsel like that it is heavy. The soup looks inviting. Thank you hug for Willow
Your home and everything in it is just gorgous!
I have those same three piece icicles and they sparkle so prettily on the tree with the lights…looking forward to seeing the full tour…Thanks Linda..🥰🇦🇺
That garland is beautiful Linda. Your soup looks delicious ☺️. Have a nice evening!!
Good video! Glad you are posting more always look forward to you.
It's a cold, dreary day here in Western PA so it's a good day for soup! Yours looks delicious. Sugarwood is looking like Christmas! I look forward to seeing it completely decorated!
One year, when I discovered beautiful glass pink ornaments from Czechoslovakia and Poland on sale at Macys I bought as many as my budget would allow. The next year I discovered gold tinsel that went beautifully with those ornaments and I have done the same procedure, one tinsel at a time on and off the tree. Those ornaments are my treasures but really all my ornaments have been collected with care and have special meaning. Even those I bought from KMart when Martha sold her things there. I have gravitated back to traditional colors at Christmas but I still use those ornaments in special ways in different areas in my home. To my way of thinking your Glitzen is special like that. One of a kind, recalls memories, always will have a place in your Christmas decorating. Loving these posts-happy decorating and cooking!
This was so enjoyable, entertaining and informative, Linda... as always.👏❤🎄💚👏
Hi Linda, I am amazed how you have so many projects going at once and still keep it together! That’s what makes your channel so interesting and full of anticipation. Love Glitzen, the garlands, the tree…everything. Your turkey soup broth looked so yummy…turkey soup is my grandson’s favorite thing I cook and his eyes light up when he eats it. He and the rest of the family like orzo in lieu of pasta but either is good. Looking forward to seeing you soon! Thank you for adding joy to my day.
I enjoyed this. It was like catching up with an old friend. I rem when I was a little girl we had tinsel like that. I did not realize it was made of lead. I am in the process of decorating for Christmas like you are. It is a process. I use a lot of fresh and faux greens. I decorate with the Christmas music turned up so I can enjoy it. I am almost done buying gifts. Next comes the baking. Looking forward to your next post.
I love your channel.. your home is my dream home! The house, the grounds, your decor both inside and out, the whole property and its location.. wow! I could only dream… you are blessed💕
The tinsel brings back so many memories. My mother was so particular on putting the tinsel on, each strand had to be smoothed just so so. And as a child I had no understanding of that and no patience. Your home looks beautiful.
Love the black framed chairs near the fireplace I just finished upholstering a chair just like them. They were horsehair-filled seats and back, I had to have help with it but it came out beautiful. The material was over 75 years old. I will NEVER do that again I was a nervous wreck!! If I made one mistake I would not of had enough material. Anywho I still love those chairs next to the fireplace. I always use the carcus for soup..Maybe it is just me but a fireplace is soothing to be around. I would be peeling potatoes in a bowl in my rocking chair. I went through 9 months of kitchen redo, and I will not ever do that again either!!
I can't wait to see it all together ❤️
Oh Linda so many memories of hanging tinsel I actually still have a box ,going to hang some on my mantle
You have so much more patience than I could ever have. I would never be able to work with that tinsel.
Hi Linda….my Dad would spend hours painstakingly applying the tinsel to the tree, one by one…..our tree always looked so pretty and shiny! I give you credit for doing this big renovation during the holidays! Looking forward to seeing the beautiful end result!
Watching you make your soup was really making me hungry! I’m sure the stock was amazing with all the wonderful aromatics. So many of the KZread chefs that I watch use the single burner butane/propane cooktops-but maybe you don’t want to use something like that while you have no kitchen. Looking forward to more holiday videos from you!
My husband and I did some Christmas shopping today… and it was very successful. I’m now sitting by the fire, enjoying our decorated home. I’m way too hyper to handle a remodel during the holidays. Hats off to you Linda…. So now tell us the truth, do you ever loose your cool? Just teasing…I truly love your channel. ☺️
I’ve been using the same antique lead tinsel for years! I lovingly put it on and take it off the tree strand by strand every year! My daughter just got her first apartment with her fiancé and was sad that she didn’t have antique tinsel because she’s so used to it growing up - little did she know that I bought her a package on Etsy direct from Germany! It finally arrived yesterday after 2 months stuck in customs . She will be so excited when I give it to her this weekend!!❤🎄❤️
Must be wonderful to be able to do all of the extensive renovations.
Linda I was intrigued by your thrift store English platter and as it was a trademark I hadn't heard of before tried to do some research...I think the manufacturers were W.Baker whose factory I believe existed during the 19th century...Their former premises.....and you're not going to believe this Linda....is a 20 minutes walk from my home here in Hanley ..Stoke on Trent....home of The Pottery industry..I often think of you as I buy second hand pieces from Charity shops as we call them here in the UK. I too love the traditional patterns and have to buy them even if I don't need them !!! You would need to bring an empty suitcase with you Linda if you visited here to take back all your bargains. Of which there are many...and you would LOVE our Potteries Museum..a splendid building in what I'm afraid to say is now a very run down city since all the factories have closed down... God Bless Linda.... Love your home....your ideas and New England....❤
Our excitement is building!
Everything is looking beautiful and I especially love the "green room" mantel. That is sort of how we decorate our one and only fireplace mantel for Christmas. I am mad for plaid at Christmas. Even my Christmas china has plaid ribbons in the design (Lenox Holiday Tartan). I am looking forward to all of your upcoming videos. Fingers crossed for you that your cabinetry comes on time...or even early!!!😁
I also, grew up with the heavy tinsel. There is no comparison with the awful stuff out today. Memories…..🎄
Colonial Glam... It's very pretty!
BEAUTIFUL I LOVE THE FIREPLACE.. YOUR HOME IS VERY INVITING TFS..🌹🌲💫
The bejeweled deer is fabulous! Would you share where I might find a Glitzen for my home?
I am in love with everyone of your videos
I just love Glitzen! 😊
Linda I love the way that lead tinsel hangs, obsessed actually. I've looked on Ebay and there is quite a bit of it for sale. However it seems flat, is that common? Yours seemed to have more dimension and it hung beautifully.
where did u get the garland over the mantel... and what kind of garland is it ...looks wonderful w/the beaded beads garland over it
Linda, I've noticed your fireplace broom several times. I love it! What is the proper name of it? I liive in Florida and don't see much of the antique fireplace accessories . Christmas decor is looking beautiful!
Where did you get the garland that is on the mantel under the ship painting? I really like the mix of greens that it has. I can not get over what a difference those two windows make in the kitchen....great call.
Looking good ! Soup to !
Loveee those beads. Where did you get them
Just roasting a chicken and ran out to snip rosemary...next, to move the Christmas tree from the room corner to in front of window. Thank you for tips.
My rosemary always dies in the house. How do you keep yours going?
Ohhhh, may I suggest some tear shaped chandelier Crystal's for Glitzen's eyes???
❤
Linda .. they are once again selling tinsel .. Merry Christmas to you and Ben 🎄
What in the world kind of onion was that? It was humongous!!!! I made turkey soup with our left overs as well, so good!

Looked like a large yellow onion. I get them all the time in my grocery store. I also like the large white onions.
🎄~great to hear from you Linda! A perfect day, decorating, piddling, & soup making.... we are an awful lot alike my friend!👍😉 ~🎄🤶🎄🎅🎄🤶🎄🎅🎄
Even if you stopped now it would be pretty!
Where did you find Glitzen ?
Linda love the long bead sparkly swags. Do t really know what exactly to call them. Do you have a source? Thank you

@@newenglandfineliving thank you for responding to my question. They are beautiful and I love the way you are putting them to use.
I love the portrait of the woman in your green room, who is she?
As a pediatrician I must warn that lead tinsel is poisonous, and children in particular should not be allowed to handle it. Lead exposure is not a good idea for adults, either. It is also dangerous to dogs if they eat any of it.
❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦👍
Not sure about you but wanted to add to your stock info. TMI but I have had H Pyloria an intestional disorder due per my gastro doctor caused by anything grown in the dirt. All to say you may want to take your skins off and peel your carrots in the future. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer. Enjoy your channel. Keep it flowing!
