I don't think anyone understand how deep our bench is....Sinisterra is a really good player but injuries has plagued him in recent years, Rios is a young up and coming player in Palmeiras Brazil, Miguel Borja has scored 25 goals in all competitions so far in 2024 (playing for River Plate) and didn't even sniff the pitch today, Carrascal has been inconsistent but a key piece coming off the bench, Duran (playing for aston villa) scored 2 goals coming off the bench against Liverpool in his last game in the premier league (only 20 years old). This team has depth.

I'm American. I've always said this, I love USMNT. They're not bad and they have a passionate group representing the country. But there's levels to this shit. You gotta understand, CONMEBOL is arguably the most competitive confederation on the world of football; you're not just casually gonna take a game off Colombia, Uruguay, Chile, etc. let alone Argentina and Brazil. The starting lineup wasn't bad at all for the USMNT. Most of the starters are playing top flight in europe, this has to be down to the couching and the non-existent support the US get. I swear whenever its a home game, more then half the stadium are opposing fans.

When the opposition has superior ball handling skills, what made the USA think they could dribble past them? The USA should be ashamed of that kind of behavior.

Our CBs are not good enough on the ball for us to keep possession. Our mid, save for McKennie, are not efficient on the ball of us to rotate it. Our defensive transitions are marred by lack of positional awareness. We need to be the America of old, low-block and counter with hope because teams like Colombia have sorted out their defensive and offensive transitions by playing together in high intensity matches. Americans don't understand the intensity of the Copa America, which is better than the Euros given the fervor and manic pressing of South American teams. We play well with the ball against Central American teams but we cannot handle the pressure & cunning of South American teams. I am certain we can't even beat Venezuela & not even Bolivia. Wait until we get pressed by Uruguay with all their experience and athleticism. South American soccer is crazy given the technical ability of all the players, the professional cheating, the intense press and the noise of the fans.

Finally someone understands it. The difference is the soccer culture of the big countries in South America (Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, although now Colombia is getting closer). There are tactical things that USA players have to decide (in addition to the technical difference that is important but not the most) on the field to understand how to play against a European or Conmebol team. Conmebol teams, thanks to their soccer culture, have things they do from memory when the opportunity arises on the field. Certain ways of playing long or short, in addition to now adding pressure (before Colombia did not play like that, that is new) defensively where the forwards are committed to being the first defenders. For now the Americans don't seem to have that. And a basic difference is that due to the lack of that, the American players do not make decisions on the court: they continued the entire game trying to come out with a short dominated ball despite the constant pressure that Colombia made that made them lose the ball and because of the which they scored three goals. No team in Conmebol would ever do that. Long passes or rejecting the ball if necessary and then going to fight for the rebound because the most important thing is to compete and if there is no other way that is what has to be done. They do not make a reading of the game that was not there to execute the plan they were trying to carry out.

I do agree that our center backs either belong in a retirement home or don’t know how to pass the ball and keep possession, but Greg Berhalter is wasting the gold generation, especially our attack. We have so many versatile attackers, but all he does is make us cross the ball and hope for the bestand never works out and he never changes it

When the whistle blows the marketing stops and reality hits. USA will never be a top soccer nation until pay to play is completely abolished, but no one in USA soccer is attempting to do anything about it because people make money from keeping the status quo and that is the problem with American society, making money is more important than doing the right thing and that is why soccer is a rich kid sport in the USA and you don’t have universal healthcare or strong gun laws, the most expensive mediocre Colleges in the world and terrible politicians everything is monetised for someone to make profit.
