COLOMBIA'S Famous Fishing Village HAS CHANGED! 🇨🇴 Santa Marta Travel Guide
Taganga is a popular fishing town in Colombia but is it safe? With tourism things have changed quite a bit. A lot of people have been robbed in Taganga over the years. When I visited 12 years ago backpackers had been robbed by someone with a machete but recently it's become more severe and a tourist was shot.
I wasn't sure if I should go, or recommend it to others but thankfully my hostel in Santa Marta shared that it is safe in the day but best to come back at night. Taganga is just a cheap 10 minute bus ride from Santa Marta so it's a nice day trip to visit the beach or move onto Playa Cristal or Playa Grande.

Oh I'm so glad. I always list a hotel in the video description if I think it's worth recommending. But in this case they were so helpful with information I wanted to also mention it in the video, and also the next one 😂

Santa Marta is really such an ideal spot along the coast, it's not too far from anything.
Your take on travel and food is refreshing. This is the kind of unique content I like.

Very safe country, if you use common sense. I’ve gone many times Solo. But if you can go with a friend, you’ll be fine!

If you wear flip flops or water shoes you'll be fine. I definitely think it's still worth visiting.

When I was there 12 years ago I wrote about people getting robbed by machete and so I asked my hostel owner. Back then and now the issue is people aren't reporting the robbery because they won't get their things back but the crimes aren't going on record for police to have to deal with the ongoing situation.

if you're facing the water it's just to the left. It's not the best beach and I'd recommend water shoes as it's a bit rocky but also why people take the boats to Playa Cristal I have a video from there as well and would definitely recommend it.
