Cologne Walking Tour [40K 60fps] | From Cologne Cathedral to Deutzer Bridge
Welcome to Cologne, a german city with a rich history and a vibrant modern culture. Cologne dates back to ancient Roman times and was established by the Romans in 50 AD. Cologne is the birthplace of the world-famous fragrance "Eau de Cologne." It was created in the 18th century and became a signature scent for many prominent figures throughout history. Cologne is renowned for its exuberant Carnival celebrations. The "Cologne Carnival" (Kölner Karneval) is one of the largest and most famous street festivals in Germany.
Cologne is home to the world-renowned chocolate brand "Lindt." The city has numerous public gardens, offering residents and visitors serene spots to relax and unwind. Cologne is a melting pot of cultures. This diversity is reflected in the city's culinary scene, events, and festivals, making it a vibrant and inclusive place to explore. Cologne is a city with a lot to offer for both history enthusiasts and modern explorers.
My Cologne walking tour begins in front of Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a true architectural masterpiece. It is one of the largest cathedrals in Europe and took over 600 years to complete. From there I head towards the Hohenzollern Bridge, famous for its love locks, where couples seal their love by attaching padlocks to the bridge's fence. I pass Ludwig Museum (Museum Ludwig), which houses an exceptional collection of modern art and make a stop at Rhein River.
I countinue my walk to Groß St. Martin Church (Groß St. Martin), an impressive Romanesque church with a rich history. Then I walk the charming cobblestone streets of the Old Town (Altstadt) and reach the Alter Markt Square (Alter Markt). The Cologne City Hall (Kölner Rathaus) is located here. It's a stunning Gothic-style building that dominates the square.
I turn left to the Heumarkt. Heumarkt is a significant public square and a popular gathering place for both locals and visitors. The monument of Jan von Werth (Denkmal Jan von Werth) on horseback is located here. Jan von Werth is a famous military commander from the 17th century and a legendary figure in Cologne's history.
My walking tour finishes on the Deutzer Bridge (Deutzer Brücke) with spectacular panoramic views of the Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) and the city skyline.
Thank you for joining me on this captivating walking tour of Cologne. I hope you enjoyed the journey as much as I did, and if you did, don't forget to like and subscribe to my channel for more exciting travel adventures.
