Colm Wilkinson, Lisa Vroman, Michael Ball - "All I Ask of You (Reprise)" (Hey, Mr. Producer)
Ойын-сауық
Colm Wilkinson, Lisa Vroman and Michael Ball perform on "Hey, Mr. Producer," a concert honoring Sir Cameron Mackintosh. Buy it if you don't have it; it's worth the money it'll cost you to have it shipped.
Don't complain about Colm's facial hair; he was also playing Jean Valjean in the Les Mis segment later that night. Couldn't have a beardless 24601, now could we? (Or could we? Has there ever been one? I honestly don't know. But I digress.)

Karimloo described Colm best - “He has tears in his voice”
How emotional, Valjean seeing Cosette who he loves so much fall in love with Marius Oh Wait...
For some reason, I'm waiting for Philip Quast to walk on stage and shout "There is no place for you to hide!" and Colm Wilkinson to be like "This man's done no wrong and he needs a doctor's care!" while trying to carry Michael Ball xD I can keep going! "I warned you I will not give in! I won't be swayed" "Another hour yet! And then I'm yours, and all our depts are paid." "The man of mercy comes again! And talks of phantoms!" Oops. Never mind I shouldn't be singing Les Mis in Phantom.

when colm starts singing with the sad "i'm-about-to-cry" voice, i get all teary eyed. he's just so convincing. and i just love these three together, they are my favorites who ever played in PotO.

I'm extremely amused at how Michael is always taking the girl away from Colm hahahaha.
Gosh...I can hear Colm crying....*sobs* I'm in with him...especially as Phantom. I know some people complain that he sounds like an old man when he sings, and that that doesn't work especially for the Phantom, but I really like Colm.
Ladies and gentlemen at 1:48 I present to you the longest "You" in history.

You remember that line from Happy Feet, "when she sings, it dern near breaks your heart?" Thats how i feel about Colm as the phantom, i wish Broadway had kept at least one full recording of the show from the 80s!!
The best singer of all times in Musical

Colm can pretty much be anyone and still do a brilliant job! I bow to this man, truly the father of beautiful music.
I haven't heard all of the phantoms yet, so I'm going off of Colm, Gerard and Ramin. Colm is by far my favorite of the three. With Gerard and Ramin I felt like I was getting screamed at most of the time with their notes on the more emotional parts. Colm can actually hit those notes and keep them running with such power it blows my mind.
Colm and Michael have two of my favorite voices in the world. This video is made of win.
Colm is one of my inspirations and he is an amazing person, performer, and singer.
A POWERFUL EXPERIENCE I SAW THIS AT PROCTORS AND WAS MOVED BY IT A MASTERPIECE!!
I saw Mr. Wilkinson perform as The Phantom in the Toronto Cast and was spellbound by His Voice. Two decades later (plus) and the goosebumps still appear just by listening to this uTube clip. His voice, in this, and all His performances just cannot be equalled. Truly Gifted......
man this sent chills down my spine
@EmilyGreene1984 He had the beard because he later on in this concert, sang the role of Jean Valjean in the Les Misérables section. And Colm actually created the role of the Phantom at ALW's Sydmonton festival before Michael Crawford played the part in the west end and on Broadway. Colm was also the first Phantom in the Canadian production.
@SDVR007 I literally just said to my friend, "Wow, I think Colm is the only one who could pull off Phantom with facial hair.. I like it!"
Couldn't agree more.. struggling to fight back tears at his passion
Is that Michael Ball as Raoul? If so that means we have a Valjean and a Marius.

Joshua V. Harding The original Valjean and the original Marius at that. If Rebecca Caine was Christine it would be Valjean, Cosette, and Marius all together.
colms voice gives me shivers
colm is not only a good singer, but also a very prolific actor !!
Comma phantom really sells the age factor of the phantom for me. His interpretation is just so mature . John Owens jones is the closest I find to this more mature phantom.
I love colm my mom new his son and she was neighbors with him like I'm jealous
Wow what a voice.
Colm is amazing!
Love this! Michael, Colm and then Rebecca Caine instead of Lisa would be the perfect combination. :)

That was heart-wrenching! Way to go Colm!
Colm Wilkinson has the most fabulous voice. Thank you for posting this.
When he sang "he was bound to love you" that was just the saddest thing, and the way he said "oh Christine" and started crying Edit: I thin the Phantom actually looks better with a beard
Okay. Even if he isn't my favourite Phantom or Valjean, he is still amazing in every roll. He's version of "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" is definitely my favourite.
I can’t count how many times I’ve watched this
oh my god oh my god..my dream cast!!
I agree. He is great at anything he does! However, he will always be The Phantom and Jean Valjean in my eyes! He inspired me to play Jean Valjean someday!
For my money Colm will always be the best Phantom and the best Valjean

@Bill Corben Because no one will ever beat Colm Wilkinson when it comes to portraying such a role like the Phantom or Jean Val Jean or another role. No one will ever be as ultimately professional as him either as a Musical Theatre Actor or Musician. As for Jean Val Jean, Colm made that role! Two famously known theatre characters the ENTIRE WORLD knows him for! The reason why he's so well known for Phantom is because Andrew Lloyd Webber offered and cast him in the role for Toronto's production of Phantom of the Opera and he stayed with the Canadian company for a long time to. Its why he's so well known as Toronto's Phantom! But when it it comes to becoming a character and telling the audience the characters story and having them focus on that character, no one can evoke more emotion, soul, and heart in their voice than Colm can when it comes to portraying the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera or Jean Val Jean in Les Miserables. THAT'S WHY COLM IS SO DAMN GOOD AND IS THE BEST PERFORMER IN THE WORLD!!!

When it comes to singing, he has it all, a great range, tone, excellent head and chest voice, vibrato and resonance , as well as one of the best falsetto's I've ever heard. Also, I've never heard anyone put as much emotion into their singing. With regards to his acting, he puts everything into each performance and seems to live the part.
I love the way Colm sobs in the background as Michael and Lisa sing. I think that Colm should do narration and voice overs as he is so expressive.
Fabulous, goosebumps !
What a damn fine actor and a terrific singer!
Michael Ball makes me weak in the knees. Colm Wilkinson ain't no slouch either. They're amazing.
For the record, I kind of like the Phantom with a beard. Or maybe I just like beards, idk.

Right?? And i dont even like guys with beards but Colm Wilkinson is that special exception
Lisa Vroman is an amazing Christine , Cosette and Johanna
My favorite moment in Phantom I think.
Colm is fucking incredible! As soon as he starts singing, I tear the fuck up. :'(
Enjoyed this video! All the best!!
1:31 all hell breaks loose.
omg he's fantastic as The Phantom, was expecting it to maybe be like "Valjean wearing a mask and singing a Phantom of the Opera"-song but it took me about two seconds to forget that other character and he (Colm Wilkinson) totally became The Phantom, what a fantastic performer (and singer, ofc) he is!
well you are sort of right, its called i gave you my music in canada to my knoledge which is a logical title but it is also the reprise of all i ask of you
I think the phantom looks good with a beard.

Seriously? While Crawford started the role and is recognized as the phantom he doesnt hold a candle to Colm. Crawford sings the part but Colm puts a passion in it that cannot be denied

Colm was Andrew's first choice for Phantom and originally sang the part during Lloyd Webber's festival.
This is sometimes referred to as "I Gave You My Music" but it's actually called the "All I Ask of You (Reprise)," at least according to the official show site, OLC, and most other sources. I don't know why or when "I Gave You My Music" started being used, unless it was an attempt to differentiate between this reprise and the one that follows "The Point of No Return". *shrug*

The best Phantom for me
I got to see Colm 3 times while he played in Toronto. Really good in person. Also, heres a trivial fact: his name is pronounced as if to say "Kaahlum" not as its written "Koohhlm".
I think Colm is among the best phantoms, but ONLY Michael Crawford is able to sing "You will curse the day..." making it a great Act 1 finale

DAMNNNNN
He uses classical technique; he drops his jaw and uses correct vowel formation, for example. And yes, it's difficult to compare acting, but it seems as though Colm is better at doing sad scenes in his roles.
@maxiflo Its Phantom of the Opera Canadian Cast -but it has Colm Wilkinson and Rebecca Caine, and they were incredible.
eargasm
I adore colm
The phantom is quite good :)
Colm sounds really...how to say..miserable, especially in scenes like this...he can make you cry with such part from "he was bound to love you...", but to the last line "you will curse the day you did not do...", he doesn't sound as scary as expected...his voice is too nice and honest...that's why he fits Jean Valjean better than anyone else
im crying
@shindouhikaru43 Yes they did. But they have preformed together before. They were both part of the original cast of Les Miz in London - which is why they are in the anniverary concert. Bonus fact: Michael have later played the role of Jean Valjean at Windsor Castle.
I love Ramin and John Owen Jones but Colm Wilkinson is the master supreme of musical drama bar nobody
Nice!
"YOOOOOuuuUooooOuoUOuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu"
I find it funny because my experience with Col Wilkinson was the exact opposite, saw him live as the Phantom.
If you listen to Gerard singing, he accidentally slip out his Scottish accent in the film. Two example; first: when he said there in "the Phantom of the Opera is there inside your mind." Second: when he said triumphant in "Here I bring the finished score, Don Juan triumphant."
and we all know the Jean Valjean part of Colm is thinking "I KNEW THAT MARIUS CHARACTER WASNT ANY GOOD!!!"
Earl Capenter, Peter Jöback, Dave Willets, John Owen-Jones, Brent Barrett, Matt Camelle, John Cudia, Ramin Karimloo, Hugh Panaro and Gerard Butler
That awkward moment when Valjean and Marius are fighting for the same girl's romantic affections
The thing I read didn't say, but judging from Colm's technique I'd say she was.
No, the song title is correct.
How can I find this full concert

This is from a tribute show called Hey, Mr. Producer done to celebrate Cameron Mackintosh.
Screw whole world. Today I feel like Phantom. Dont ask why, but my Christine fly away with Raoul. ||| The best wideo and music ever
@maxiflo It's available on both CD and DVD on amazon for a fair price might I add.
As a teenager Christine was always into the "bad boys". Something that is not shown in this story was when, between acts one and two, Christine's father bursts into the theatre. "Damn it Christine! Out of all the boys you could reject you just had to p*ss off the one that would drop a f*cking chandelier on the stage! When will you learn!"
@maxiflo You mean on the "Hey, Mr. Producer" album? Good question, I have no idea. I've also heard that Lisa and Michael performed "All I Ask of You" during the concert and it never even aired, so I'm assuming that both the video and audio releases were edited for time. Bummer.

I think they actually did perform "All I Ask Of You" which is probably on the official VHS/DVD! I saw this video in highschool and I did not like or enjoy the "All I Ask Of You" performance by Lisa Vroman and Micheal Ball at all. And then Colm appears as Phantom in the back and I was like "OUCH!" and the camera shows Lisa and Micheal sharing a kiss and I was like TRIPLE OUCH! But I love Colm's performance with the way he brought out his emotions. I cried just listening to his emotional voice. You can feel the pain he's feeling through Christine's betrayal of him and you can clearly see it in his facial expressions. And when he says "Oh Christine!" I broke out in tears and Colm's buildup of anger at the end, teeth clenched and huffing of breath.... WOW! I will admit, I don't know how Colm was able to watch Lisa Vroman and Micheal Ball kiss while he sang "I gave you my music...." cause that's ACTING!!!
Ok so after Valjean died he became a ghost who wants to seduce Cosette, now a Soprano Opera singer and ballet dancer. She and Marius changed identities after reading about Javert (Yeah he's dead amd wouldn't have recognized but they never knew so better safe than sorry). After a few years of being apart they reunited as Valjean sent his phantom self to see Cosette... k
holy crap really? i knew valjean and marius anyways i love colm wilkinson
Think the phantom looks better with facial hair.
Awwww, this song was breaking my heart until Colm starting bleating at 1:36. bahahaha
@wdstilson Michael didn't play the Phantom he played Raoul. And he wasn't a part of the original cast of Phantom either. He was part of the second cast. He's not on the recording.
what! omg it was not Gerard butler! my very first phantom was Colm but my first full on story phantom was Gerard!
This is a strange video :p Footage of Michael Ball making out with a woman while Colm sings at them... Love you, Colm.
Christine isn’t meant to be 40.

she’s pretty young here, you’re just used to a different style of makeup
Andrew probably thinks that Ramin is very good because he chose him for Love never dies. Also in the 25th anniversary when the 5 phantoms sang the music of the night it looked like Colm thinks that Ramin is very good too. Ramin is my favourite but I think that Colm and many others are great too.
I don't think Colm's very convincing as the Phantom - especially when you see his beard through the mask. :P

In a prior segment of the show though, he was performing as Jean Val Jean from Les Miserables.
It's a little strange to see the Phantom with a goatee.
Valjean = the Phantom Marius = Raoul Cosette = Christine
IMO, I really wanted to see Michael Crawford do it alongside Lisa Vroman. Was he not available when the show was going on?
And actually, Colm was trained by his mother..
Is there a full version of this version of the musical that I can buy??
Correct me if i'm wrong but from I know Colm isn't classically trained either and started in Irish bands. It's hard to compare the acting of these two because Ramin's phantom is different than Colm's.
0:52 he has the eyes of Gerry...
To bad they didn't have the chandalier at teh end but it was still a great performance
How come I can't find this song on the cds?
Actually, Ramin is not an amateur, and Gerard did not use autotune. He is an actual singer
