Hard work? Protesting doesn’t look like hard work to me. Even the ones not protesting are just sitting around being silent. They could easily confront those being a nuisance but won’t. They could tell the universities it’s not right to send Jewishstudents home “for their safety”, but won’t.

@@levii6126 I went to college. Graduated then went on to get a masters degree. Not every “protestor” has a taser. Most are just dumb students screaming like turkeys. They can easily speak up and say this isn’t right. They can go confront the school administration and demand they do their jobs. Instead they just sit around with their thumb up theirbutts. I was homeschooled, graduated the year before Covid. My cousin and I had small graduation at a church. We wore caps and gowns, walked down an isle and gave a very small speech. Had food and soda. We had a great time with family and friends. My older brother and cousins did the same thing. All my other Homeschool friends did the same thing. I know it must be so disappointing for these students but they should all throw their own graduation, have a party with their friends and families. Invite their teachers and maybe get them involved if they want. Do something, don’t just take this. There isn’t any Covid restrictions stopping you this time. Celebrate it with loved ones. The whole cancelling graduation thing is more of a punishment to the protesters, exactly like suspending them, cancelling some of their speeches during graduation and arresting them and so on. They want to silence those students. I mean, of course it’s sad to have graduation cancelled and now considering Covid twice, it’s wild to call those protesters “entitled brats”. Instead of blaming them and putting the whole fault on them, you got to ask why they’re doing that in the first place. These protesters are students like every single one campus, they worked hard, studied hard and payed tuition like everybody else, and I pretty sure they also want to graduate and have a graduation ceremony. But the same time, they realize how much privilege they are to go to universities and while every university in Gaza is bombed by Israel. That is something you can’t ignore. They aren’t ignoring it. They are doing something against it unlike you.

This topic still makes me livid. I graduated college in summer 2020. “Graduation” was a zoom recording for each department where they just read our names. My mom had been diagnosed with cancer in January of 2020 and was still strong enough that she could have gone if I had a graduation. The year after they did a socially distant graduation were students from 2020 and 2021 sat in chairs in an empty stadium 6 feet apart from each other. By that time I already had a job as well as taking care of my mom during hospice. She died on 2 weeks after so I didn’t go to that either. I think they did another actual graduation in 2022 but I didn’t go to that either. I’m so bitter about it. 5 years of my life. Going to college for a degree that actually matters. And I got no recognition for it. I don’t even have good senior photos or my diploma hanging up because no one was taking photos at the time and I just gave up on caring. Even typing it makes me emotional.

As a member of the Class of 2024 (graduating in exactly a week), I’m so glad I go to a university that isn’t putting up with any of this. My university isn’t religiously affiliated, but we do have a lot of Jewish students and our president is also Jewish. The university put out a statement saying they wouldn’t stand for anything going on on the other campuses, and we’re set to have graduation for our undergrad, grad, law, med, and doctoral students this coming weekend. See what happens when a university stands up for itself?

Does it seem like propaganda? But how so when all the images are just one search away and you can see for yourself how real they are? Does the clock always start on Oct 7th? If the university is so worried about the protest it could have held at different location, postponed, or maybe just have a separate ceremony for each department so it would be less people. My college during Covid still did graduation for each department to minimize the amount of people and everyone got recognize for their achievements. We as a graduating class have really been let down and abandoned by the education systems. And they do not care. Why must they keep doing this to us ?

I did get a college graduation, this was pre-Covid times. It was such a fun day and everyone was so happy, students and families alike. Took lots of pictures and went to the park for a picnic. I'm so glad I got to experience it and I feel for these poor students.

Personally I have never cared about graduation ceremonies, I think it's a waste of time. I graduated as an engineer back in 2021 and we didn't have any kind of ceremony, which I loved. I was just happy to be out of that place, no more spending nearly every waking second studying, doing homework, or prepping for presentations. That's not to say I didn't enjoy university, in fact I loved furthering my knowledge on topics I was interested in, and I had some amazing profs, but I never felt the need for a ceremony. You should be happy about your own accomplishments, having some public celebration of your (and everyone else's) willpower seems exceedingly ridiculous

The Israeli army destroyed every university in Gaza. Are we going to have the same concern for the students there?

I graduated college in 2020. My student teaching semester got cut in half. The university told us they would postpone the graduation ceremony to October so I bought my cap and gown. October rolled around and they said "Sike!" Twas cancelled. Instead they dedicated a brick to the class of 2020 and put it in the alumni plaza, because that fixes everything.

As someone graduating in 2 weeks from uni as part of the class of 2024, I truly sympathize with those who got their college graduations cancelled because of the protests and even moreso if you're high school graduation was also cancelled due to COVID. Luckily, I still had my hs graduation albeit we were split in 5 different sessions on the football field in alphabetical order bc of COVID guidelines so I didn't celebrate with everyone. My uni graduation is expected to go as planned which I'm very thankful for but my heart breaks for the other students across the country also graduating who got screwed out of a graduation not only once but twice!

students who are peacefully protesting, which, mind you, is an american right, are getting arrested. and expelled. again, this is allowed under american law. these students are protesting for the divestment of their college which they pay funds to. again, protesting is an american right. if you really care about american rights, where are the american rights for the protesters getting arrested and expelled for PEACEFULLY protesting? lastly, if you are whining about graduating because people are protesting against sending money to a country who is actively bombing innocent civilians, you seriously need to check your privelege. do you think if the colleges did divest their funds we would be here rn?

I graduated high school in 2020. Had a drive in walk and left. Didn’t really feel like I did graduate. I had an amazing experience being able to go to my commencement for graduation this last week for 2024. I finally FEEL like I graduated!!!! I will have these moments with me for the rest of my life. But these students won’t. I feel so sorry for my fellow peers here.

Agreed, I mean the selfish, self absorbed and false sentiment that she is pushing in this video is the thing that is *infuriating* . And the audacity to call the university encampments and pro pali students violent protesters even though they are the peaceful ones is so disgusting and rather the pro IsnotReal counter protesters are the violent ones.

BYU canceled my graduation “because of COVID” in 2021. Every other college in the state held a graduation that year, they just did them outdoors. Our stadium had enough space to give each graduate 16 seats to social distance, but the university didn’t care to make it work. I cried on the morning of what would’ve been my graduation day because it just hurt to not have one. Luckily I got a MFA and was able to have a real graduation two years later. Just watched two of my brothers graduate last week and it brought back memories of both the graduation I got and the one I never got to have.

Eh, graduation ceremonies are overrated. My high school, and two for college (one from the university, and one from my engineering class)...All were too long, too boring, too hot, listening to cliche "your life is what you make it" speeches, waiting through a few hundred people I don't know. And I'm sure my family could couldn't care less about the other students. I just wanted to go home and party with my own family/friends.

I feel very grateful as a HS 2020 graduate to have a proper college graduation this semester and that no one did anything like this.
